i have got to get this game, the real space shuttle is awesome in person, but bringing the space shuttle to your home is even cooler, does Wal-Mart have this game, cause i want it SO bad.
to get closer to the iss you need to have a lower orbit. The lower the orbit the faster the spaceship will move. To slow down as you get closer you need to increase the height of the orbit. but if you get above the height of the iss you will slow down and move away from the iss. It is simple physics
@FSXTutorial, to open the doors, you press Crtl + Alt + Space (bar). That brings up the payload bay and RMS arm menu boxes. You click on payload bay and power up the bay. Release the door latches and click the switch for the bay doors. They should open.
Hello there. Listen, I have a dilemma with the wing controls - I play Orbiter on a notebook, so it lacks any numpad keys. Is there any other alternative for controlling the wings (can I reconfigure the keys or something similar) ? Thanks in advance.
That's all right - I finally discovered how to reconfigure the keys and I can pilot any craft with ease now. Of course, a joystick would be even more comfortable... ;-)
Basically with the numpad, but 90% of the Space Shuttle's flight is flown whith the GPC (General Purposes Computer); you can download it free. Only docking operations are flown manually in this game with the Space Shuttle.
Installing addons couldn't be easier. Just extract the zip files inside the Orbiter's main folder (like C:\Orbiter) because they usually were zipped with each file in the proper folder.
Just use the path that is indicated in the zip file. ;)
Hi! Thanks for your comments. In fact I did it, I already have SSM 2007, but in my opinion both games are different philosophies. Orbiter is an "open" simulator, I mean, you may programm your own missions, Shuttle missions, follow the apollo programm or even explore the space by yourself. Sometimes it need to do a lot of calculations. I found SSM 2007 very realistic on shuttle systems, much more than orbiter, but also too much limited; it's a "follow checklists and touch buttons".Anyway, thanks!
Fair. I tried ORBITER and found it to be very buggie... But i'm seeing some here have had better luck than me. I did enjoy the visual quality of orbiter... They did a great job with the shuttle. ( I.E. transparent windows. ) Yes, SSM2007 closely follows a mission sript, There aim is to keep it as close to the historical record as possible, Which means no "freelancing." In that aspect maybe i'll give Orbiter another look-see.
True. Bugs and lots of addons needed are the "dark face" of the Orbiter... SSM2007 runs too bad on my machine (prob. my graphics card). I enjoy more orbiter, but not doubt they did a great job on SSM2007. ;)
Hi! Many thanks! In response to your question, this is the 2006 Patch1 version of the Orbiter (the last one) and I've installed addons like Shuttle Fleet V4.0.0, Hi-Res Earth Textures, new contrail, sun and cloud textures, ISS Fleet 2.0, and Launch Pad39 KSC scenario. You can find all this addons on the many orbiter's addons web pages; all free!!

No, it is not. Orbiter does not have any video or intro. It's recorded with Fraps and edited with Pinnacle. Thanks.
