You are teaching them proper body mechanics and focused intention on the target (the candle) but it 's only the air that they move that blow out the candle, not Qi (chi).
It's like teaching someone how to crack a whip. Proper body mechanics will have a stronger effect on the air masses around as they are moving it better. Better motion = better pushing action on the air around them. No need to mystify it saying it's energy being projected...
