Just noticed that the sound @ 0:53 is the exact same sound made in Ace of Spades when you get the enmies intel, which is a game that uses Ken's Voxlap engine, small world.
Ah, my childhood and playing this on my grandparents' computer. I was the only one to get past the first floor, because we were terrified of the monsters. X)
This game is pure retro! And you can download it free too, because our friend ken released it as freeware. Download it on dosgames.com BEWARE: When you've got it unzipped, run KENSBFIX.EXE instead of KEN.EXE. Also, sometimes if you run it in Linux (dosbox) the sound won't work for some reason.
@VTS1337 Oh, when I was playing the game today on the High Res mode on DOSBox, around the 2nd level, the game crashed and I got this wierd rainbow like screen and then the adlib music just stops. IT SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME AND I TURNED MY HDTV OFF AND THEN RAIN OUT OF MY ROOM.
Then I went to press Start and then turned the TV back on to close DOSBox while trying to not look at the screen since I had a fear that it might pop back up when I right clicked on the program
@Dakkiller1 I don't know...I never played it that much, as i am a casual gamer really. Ken's Lab is buggy, even in it's later v2.1 form. It must of been some rendering error. Also, DOSBox isn't perfect as an emulater, so it could of been playing up. I heard that Hi-Res mode can ensue issues too.
lol, Ken sounded like such a wuss back then, and looked pure hurtin' in the title rollout
He's a goliath now with an adam's-cantaloupe for an apple =P
Screw Silver, Ken was pure Gold, man! Ken Goldman powered my preteens: Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, and most importantly, Blood were so ridiculously fun!, esp. co-op and Dukematch.
I wish Ken had never left the gaming industry. The sands of time want Ken's Quakeyrinth!, & his polygonal engine post-Build.
Get a better computer. I'm serious. Emulation is not as simple as you would think and requires a lot of processing power to run efficiently. Unless you can post your specs to see if you already have a decent rig.
For the first time, I had a Ken's Labyrinth dream. I dreamt that I was on level 16, and I only had flying saucers for enemies. Everything else except the music were different.
I don't know if the saucers, ghosts, bees, and bats can fall down holes. I doubt they can, but I'm pretty sure that the other enemies can fall down holes.
In level 16, I almost got killed by a Thunder Dayzee and my own shots with the bouncer. Eggman took away my jelly gun and homing missiles, so I have to use the bouncer...AGAIN.
How am I gonna deal with the fans if I'm either in episode 1 or 2? I hate fans. There are no doorways (and fans) I have to go through in episode 3. Else, I'd have to get recovery items or gray cloaks as well as pay ten coins and be stuck with a slot machine.
Level 1, level 7, and level 12 are insanely hard. I hate those levels. Level 3 has Stalfoses and ghosts for new enemies. Ghosts take one shot, but with the bouncer or jelly gun, Stalfoses take one hundred shots to kill, twelve shots with the purple potions or homing missiles, and one with both.
The only thing that outshined Ken's programming prowess were his superb original music compositions. He should have concerts and and sell CDs like Yanni.
I have had level 1 stuck in my head since 1993. I emailed Ken once! He in fact has a plugin for winamp to let you play .KSM files (his own standard, of course) so you can play all his songs on your computer.
There are a number of things I easily get scared to in games. One of them starting in the second episode is when you start dealing with the bees and (especially) the beehives. I get scared to look at them. Thankfully, they can be destroyed with 16 shots or eight rockets. Ken Silverman was quite a young man to great such great games and game engines. He'd be the kind of person I'd willingly award a lifetime acheivement award or something to. By the way, fun game! I played it and beat Episode 1.
Lulz i remeber playing this game when i was like 2, i had the creepy version, and around every door i would always close my eyes or scream! There was always something around every corner. As a matter of fact it still creeps me out now.
Best Ken's Labyrinth vids ever! They are extremely interesting to watch. I recommend this game is easier than Wolfenstein 3d. Not that I've played this game before, but the vid was awesome, really.
Never heard of this game probably because im 2 young to ever have =D since I was 3 when it came out but damn under the right circumstances I would have played this alot. It looks hella fun =D

Ken Silverman made a marvelous work with the soundtrack. Too bad they're all 30 secs long or less... Someone needs to make some remixes from them :3

Nope, I'm not shooting any fountains, because not only are there secret passages behind them, but there's Capters in them, too!
