Spacek = Whoever the top 6 ends up being, Habs have a loaded defense. Price will have his best season to date, he is still adjusting to the NHL game. Pacioretty, Desharnais, Cole are pretty much having their first full seasons on the team. Markov is actually 100 percent now and isn't rushed like previous times. People don't realize it yet but the Habs have all the pieces to be a contender or make a run the next couple seasons. Oh and Gomez sucks.

@bruinsrapecanadiens and @careypricerules1, technically, Tim Thomas IS the best player in the NHL, he did set a save % record, won the Stanley Cup, and got the Vezina and the Conn Smyth. Don't get me wrong, I am A HUGE Habs fan, and Carey is my idol, but Thomas had the better stats. Price does have 38 wins and 8 shutouts, the most in the NHL, with the 72 starts, after an amazing season, but Thomas's stats were unreal. I hated Price when he played against the Giants, but he became one of my favourite prospects when I saw him in the WJC. Very disappointed with the way the Habs faithful jeered him, but this season he proved the bandwagoners why he's going to be the best goalie in the league some day. Make BC proud Carey.

@Hurley474 so what you are saying is that the only way to judge the success of a goalie is based upon the success of the team? That is pretty damn poor reasoning. A goalie can have a successful season if the rest of his team plays poorly, just like a team can have a successful season with their goalie playing poorly. Was Stamkos not successful last season scoring 51 goals, did he not play well? Did Cam Ward not play well? Success, as an individual, is seperate from success as a team!

@Hurley474 Yes one of the dumbest ever. GAA and save % are a hell of a lot better than wins in evaluating goalies cause unlike wins they are determined by the amount of goals your team scores, and therefore almost purely defensive stats! But the best way to evaluate a goalie is to actually watch them play, and anyone who has watched Howard and Ward (and clearly not an idiot) play this season would say Ward was the better goalie this season.

@Hurley474 St. Louis had more goals scored than the Habs, by a substainal margin (10th in the league compared to 21st). And for all the injuries the Blues had, the Habs had just as much defensively. Price was better than Halak this year by a good margin. Price wasn't traded because his upside is much higher than Halak's.
