  • could you post that file that you're playing along with?

  • what sticks are u using

  • Awesome! How long have you been playing?

  • sick!

  • pretty legit... played this book in highschool (with some cuts) on tenors shit was mad fun

  • Yea, everyone has to understand that there are different styles within the style of traditional grip. Different lines like it different ways. I have an instructor who likes the pinky finger curled back, and in another line I played with they didn't. It all depends.

  • what are you talking about. You can hear the pad.

  • I could be wrong, but from this angle it looks like your right wrist is locking up. Crank that sucker back and THEN let the arm come into play.

  • I agree, the only thing I see wrong technique-wise has to do with your right hand. It seems sometimes that you have an angle on the stick's rebound.

  • You're very good, man. Keep up the good work and dedication. ;D

  • yeah well his traditional grip is weird because one he is holding his middle finger out it is supposed to be resting on the index finger but not too tight so you have flexibility in the grip

  • he kinda has the jew claw goin

  • but it doesn't matter because this guy is like PRO now

  • not exactly, its really what your line requires.... back in the day(my bro marched at MSU in the early 2000s,) it used to be where the middle finger wasnt rested on the index finger but now days, i guess people have gotten lazier BUT thats because the rhythms have become more unique and fast and theres a need for relaxation in the left hand cuz most people arnt lefties

  • I agree, me being left handed. I still do it with the middle and index separated though.

  • i dont c whats weird about his tradtional grip

  • ok, ur one of the best youtube snare drumers ive ever seen. keep it up, u could make any corps u want

  • That's my drum captain. =)

    Hey paul...

    go pride of the south!

  • dam dude, thats some sic drummin

  • what kind of pad is that? looks like a vic slim pad but i can't tell. btw, do you march with scv or anybody?

  • Is it just me or does his left hand grip look a little awkward

  • that's the proper way for traditional. good job!!!

  • it looks awkward, but that's the correct way to play Traditional. Get an experienced drum teacher, as mine is, and you will see what REAL traditional is. It's what he's playing.

  • there are many variations of traditional bud

  • holy shit! nice fuckin job man! this is soo lined up and musically accurate! it's pretty crazy and impressive. hopefully everyone that's seen this video realizes how good it really is. this is definately some of the best youtube drumming out there. keep it up man!

  • only thing i got to say is, the tick! get that out and u you'll be playin it as good as SCV did!!!!! great job

  • i think they are the same sticks just in different positions and different lighting

  • thats a slimpad

  • nice stockpad... these have the greatest snare feel of any pad ive ever played with... if you know any better please let me know!

  • can i have the copy of music plzz? i will use this video to play with =D

  • Read the video description. He doesn't HAVE the music.

  • my bad

  • ehh mann... good stuff. very musical! mi fav part is 1:20 - 1:23. keep up the good work.

    memphosnare07

  • scv 04 = about as musical as dci drummin gets

  • Wow, same good stuff going on here. I'd say to keep more of your unaccented stuff lower, especially the left.

  • Very good. I liked it!

You mind sending me the recordings to both of your "SCV 04 Book" videos? My email is quaddrummer209@aol . com

    Thanks

  • really nice man keep up the work and dont stop.

  • This is freaking good. Good luck if you do Corps.

  • really good man. i hope you know that.

  • sweet.

  • where did you get the sheet music for the book? or was it all eyeballed....

  • My friend had the music to it... no idea where he got it. I already had memorized what I COULD pick out and then I just memorized what I didn't know.

  • i didn't hear, that sucks man
