Locksmiths acrosss the USA are going out of business Because of a Nationwide locksmith telecommunications and internet fraud as seen on Google: $15,$19,$25 or 10% offLocksmith (every city name) All part of the Dependable Locksmith Fraud, Bronx New York call center, all Middle East Foreigner run. Thousands of fake locksmith listings in 411, which intercept all local locksmith calls See: Google-Denver Channel 31 video Locksmith fraud. This is In its 4 year now, ask the FCC and FTC why!
If people didn't lock their keys in their house/car in the first place then they wouldn't have to worry about paying a locksmith! It's like going shopping; one store might have something you want for $50 cheaper than another store. You can't go and bitch to the BBB when you find out that you paid more. It's business! Boo fucking hoo.
First of all, The guy who paid & 1700 is a fucking moron. I wish people who are bitching about locksmiths ripping people off would start bitching about something more important like car insurance and health insurance providers ripping us all off! It's business! It's freedom. If they have a license to work or are registered in that state then it's fair for them to charge what they want to charge. If they are registered than they ARE NOT phony!
@mafspin They don't have a license , they don't pay taxes , are not registered at a legitimate address , they are often working illegally in this country , they are not trained and they lie and intimidate people into overpaying! They are Phony !!!!!!!!
Anti Semetic????? This is not about anti semitism, but the facts are the facts.
Most of these scam companies that have spread across the nation are Israeli and are deliberately ripping people off.
These companies seem to be organized crime from Israel. It is what it is.
Recently the federal government has charged a company that is mentioned in this news story with Money laudering, Mail fraud, Wire fraud,, etc. David Peer current owner of Dependable locksmith was one of three charged.
So, if a guy shows up with a sloped head, then you should just tell him, " I am sorry, you have a sloped head, and therefore you do not have the capacity to tell the truth, because you have a compromised frontal lobe."
Uhm, yeah; and people wonder about this? I had a guy come to make me a KEY (from my old-- broken- key).. he screwed it up, destroyed the broken one, and left me not able to start my car.. charged me OVER a hundred bucks.
I went to the BMW dealer, bought a NEW ignition system with keys, put it in MYSELF, and paid about 60 bucks for it.
Wait a minute...the key was already broken so he didn't disable your vehicle. You broke your key and that's why you called him.
Not that all locksmiths carry your exact ignition needed either.
For a locksmith to carry all his expensive tools and equip to your location isn't free. Other calls missed because you needed him because you didn't take care of the key before it got soo bad. He comes out (and BMW's ain't a walk in the park) works on your junk nightmare and you don't want to give him $?
No; wrong. Yes, my key was broken, but it was not broken INTO the ingition.. my son had rescued if from the door-lock, and when the guy came, he made a key with the WRONG blank AND he broke my ignition, trying to force the wrong-sized key into the ingntion... SO, I actualy had to replace the ignition. The guy ALSO locked the steering-wheel with his fat belly, so it was a major chore. I ended up drilling out and replacing the ignition, MYSELF, and cost less than what HE charged to break it!
I wasn't there for the exact goings on but think he may have overcharged some. There are big locksmith co's that will do the very same so don't limit it to just the small guy.
All these ads coming back to one call taker is outrageous and the ring leader prosecuted for his scam.
No, you were not there. And, yes, this guy DID try to screw me. I have had very good experiences with locksmiths and have had very BAD experiences (well, for sure that guy who didn't know what he was doing). One guy was SO nice, I embroidered him a shirt while he was trying to remove the key from my ignition that the other one broke. HE told me to replace the ignition and charged me much less- while he was here much longer, too, than the first one!
By the way; I own an embroidery business, and IF I screwed up and put the wrong logo on dozen shirts for YOU, would you pay me because I spent time and money on them? Believe me, MY equipment is at least as costly as that of a locksmith.. but, really; IF I screwed it up, do you think YOU should pay?
Personally, I would never charge for my screw-ups.
Your'e right, they are dangerous. Not only are they destroying peoples locks and wallets, but we have found master pins in residential locks. Still not sure what motive, but I can only imagine.

File an injunction to stop Google - at the federal court house using a paralegal
to help you fill out the form. This may stop the $15 $19 $25 10%off consumer
bait and switch fraud, which is how they get most of their calls now.
Many lawyers don't want to do this because they will be flooded with
legal forms from Google lawyers.

It would cost less to replace the whole door and frame.
Maybe he was charging by the hr and it took him a week?
Anyhow, there are just as many crooks in other businesses and it's pretty rare to come across one of these bogus locksmiths.
Locksmith co's are trying to put the "SCARE" on so you call the ones with full page ads to pay just under the maxed out charge.

SS; they are carpet-baggers ONLY because they are kicked out of so many countries..
And, of course, they blame it on the people of those countries; the WHOLE world is anti-semitic, don't you know???
Yeah, I know; I am sick of that crap, too!

Can't these people do anything in a legitimate manner?
Deport them all to israel

haha.. I would LOVE to deport them, but we would have to start with our government and that's not going to happen (at least any time soon).
Maybe WE should make some new "camps", just for them?

No satan-headed-assholes necessary!

Every one that I've run into has said the same thing, "...oh its a kwikset, those are very difficult to pick will probably have to drill it..."
What a rip. I've even heard of one saying the same about a weiser. I haven't laughed that hard in quite a while.
