That is because EA sold out to people who are all about hype - and not really about cars. EA overcomplicated a simple formula - taking a car and racing it - and turn it into a story lined drama (playing it out in the streets). And then claim to reinvent the game. GT, GTR, Forza, PGR, all used the same simple formula, with their own respective signature-like delivery. Art imitates life - not movies.

This is where they should have been in 2004 or 2005, imo. Better late than never, I would say.

I've never been a fan of graphics like that in racing games though, imo they need to be more realistic, instead a all bright and colourful.
