I saw a video on youtube where a fisherman who lives on the Gulf told a reporter to come down to the shore line of his property and take a look. He did and what he saw were crabs crawling out of the water onto the fishermans lawn. The fisherman said he had never seen that before and started to weep. Their way of life is dieing and they will have to go else where to make a living. "Grapes of Wrath 2.0!
@detunner so you where part of the dustbowl migration ?. thats amazin to me yo ucan remember this stuff, yes Steibeck was an amazing writer.. east of eden is equally beautiful..
So Im currently reading this book, about 3/4 through, and I would highly encourage everyone to read it. Its a little slow tempo at the start, and very sad, but a great piece of work.
Every politician in DC should be required to watch this movie before taking office, then they would know what people that have to work for a living go through
People buying houses they can't afford in the first place. Companies wanting hand outs. To lose your job and can't pay is one thing but to buy something you knew you shouldn't or couldn't is another. My house is worth 52,000 or maybe less. People need to take responiblity for their actions. If you haven't learn that buying things on credit is wrong, I am glad to tell you. Borrowing money digs a hole that is difficult to climb out of
Most of the loans that were made were subprime loans, and the lenders were told to "steer" people toward the subprime even though they were eligible for non sub prime. Minorities were purposely steered toward these loans.
this movie is reality and teaches you that big gov't is good(FDR), and small gov't (dumb liberty minded rednecks)benefits the wealthy elite. Americans are too dumb to realize this.
how much money did the hollywood studios make showing the pain of the people????
how many of those hollywood studio **** got kicked off their land????
how many of these hollywood **** of today are going to make money out of the agony of the people.. aided by friends in wall street ???good questions....of course, there are no **** on wall street....they´re not to blame...right....how many neocons are ****????
if all the americans would of fought to the end im sure the law and the bankers back than would have backed off.maybe i think much like the gangsters back than .every one was staving so they decided why not rob the banks .
Critics have always pointed to Citizen Kane as the 'best movie ever made.' However, I would put Grapes of Wrath at the top of my list. It helps also to read the book. Interesting comparision to Triumph of the Will. IMHO, while I agree it is propoganda to refute the comparison is quite simple. Triumph is a documentary. Grapes is a docu drama meant to enlighten people to the hardships people were experiencing at the time. The economic underpinings are well portrayed in the novel.
"The Grapes of Wrath" with Henry Fonda and the incredible Jane Darwell as his mother, stands today as one of the finest examples of sensitive American cinema. It is an incredible combination of gut-wrenching scenes threaded through feel-good scenes that make you laugh and then sob. God bless John Ford. Dennis
Uh, that's in your opinion which is a stupid one at that how is a craft that had just started back then better then it is now. When you have guys like Denzel Washington Will Smith and Tom Cruise who play their roles so well you believe they are those characters
haha, acting has been going on for centuries you fool. And if you knew anything you would know that movies today are principally commercial, which means they appeal to philistines like you.
Sorry that was my brother. First off STFU you're an idiot check my account and look at my subs then tell me it's nothing RETARD. Lastly if those movies you speak of were so great acting wouldn't have become what it is today people would revert to watching old ass movies like these and not the new ones. And don't say Old Movies don't do well because i can name 8 that almost everyone has seen and are still being watched today from when I was a child.
One example Remember The Titans, everyone I know has seen that...How many people have seen The Grapes of Wrath since it's SOOOOOO Great. Almost no one, also if they were SOOOO good. Why do we have re-makes of so many movies. So please SHUT UP and stop trying to sound arrogant and smart it just makes you look like an ass
A five year old couldn't type with no grammatical errors or make over 300 videos. Then download all of them and combine it into 1 music video. Like I said you're making yourself seem like a douche right now but please continue if you want...
What a ridiculous comment. It's like comparing how many people read nowadays Dan Brown's Da Vinci code as compared to Shakespeare or Steinbeck himself and say Dan Brown is a much better writer, one who has surpassed old classic writers... what a fool!!!
No it is not. You are an idiot. How can you compare this movie to nazi propaganda. 7 million americans starved in the depression during the Hoover era, movies like this are needed to warn people away from right wing greedy extremists values created by the neocons.
East side of Stockton CA still known as 'okieville'.
Hearing the unabridged audio book (XM) opennig my eyes.

"It's time for Hollywood to stand up again for the downtrodden and the dispossessed."
I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Scott. Why is Hollywood evading the most pressing issues of our time?
