I saw a video on youtube where a fisherman who lives on the Gulf told a reporter to come down to the shore line of his property and take a look. He did and what he saw were crabs crawling out of the water onto the fishermans lawn. The fisherman said he had never seen that before and started to weep. So Im currently reading this book, about 3/4 through, and I would highly encourage everyone to read it. Its a little slow tempo at the start, and very sad, but a great piece of work.

Critics have always pointed to Citizen Kane as the 'best movie ever made.' However, I would put Grapes of Wrath at the top of my list. It helps also to read the book. Interesting comparision to Triumph of the Will. IMHO, while I agree it is propoganda to refute the comparison is quite simple. Triumph is a documentary. Grapes is a docu drama meant to enlighten people to the hardships people were experiencing at the time. The economic underpinings are well portrayed in the novel.

"The Grapes of Wrath" with Henry Fonda and the incredible Jane Darwell as his mother, stands today as one of the finest examples of sensitive American cinema. It is an incredible combination of gut-wrenching scenes threaded through feel-good scenes that make you laugh and then sob. God bless John Ford. Dennis
