After the lighter hydrocarbons in the gas are burned off the supply of gas, it will stop running. You can only burn the vapor until the heavier hydrocarbons and additives remain. Believe me, I have a patent on a fuel system that uses all the fuel.
My Triumph Bonneville use to do it regular, start and run on what was in the Carb Float bowls, it was only after a quarter of a mile down the road when it spluttered I realised I hadn't switched the fuel tap on ..

Make sure that any future use you put a spark arrestor before the carb....it's for your safety!
The last thing you want is an explosion because your carb backfired!!!

@fondness1012 I did and it mowed the yard twice on less than a half of bottle of gas 5 acres
