Why is it accptable to depict white males as gunmen,murderers,whorehoppers,drunks,coniving politicians,ultra-racist bigots against even themselves,Irish v. Italian,And that they ALWAYS rampaged over the peaceful,harmless indian tribes. Little is ever mentioned of the John Brown Society,an anti-slavery group who saw its members jailed and executed. Why dont they focus on some of the vile,repugnant acts of the indian tribes,they did their share.Whites didnt take scalps til they saw indians do it.
This show isn't too bad with rich characters, fine acting, and stories about a little recognized part of the Old West. The worst thing is historical inaccuracy like inaccurate clothing here and there, terms used that didn't exist in the 1860's like "Trench Foot", and the portrayal of the tribesmen. (That last is the worst. Does anyone think they'd leave behind one of their own as happened early on or would hesitate to wipe out Bohannon and the group of cavalry they clearly got the drop on?)
This show is a disappointment.. my father and I were big fans of Deadwood which had us hooked from the first episode but this show has been a let down so far. I feel it shouldn't even be compared to Deadwood, anyway will continue to watch in the hope that it improves. Also the fight scene in episode 5 was so painful to watch because of how bad it was...

The eruption of the civil war was the moment in American history when the true Americans were replaced with irish and german immigrants dressed in Union uniforms.
@THEJESUSOFJOHNSTOWN He means that many Irish and germans fought in the Civil War because there were many irish and german immigrants at the time. Many irish and german regiments were formed in the Civil War like the famous 69th New York brigade.

So far the first two episodes have been amazing.
But, it want be another Deadwood.
I don't think we'll see all the cussing and nudity like that show.
