  • 1:02

    "Eh, fuck it."

    lol

  • If hes a porcupine when he gets older won't he shoot quills at everyone if he gets mad or threatened?

  • @electrozap101 I never understood why people think porcupines can "shoot" their quills.

    They can't.

  • @electrozap101 Porcupines can't shoot their quills.

  • POOOKEEEEEEMOOOON!!!

  • He's so cuuute!

  • at 1:03 he probly says i quit!

  • People who want to take wild animals away from their natural habitats just cause they want it as pets are cruel selfish people I think. People who take these animals in and take them to wildlife habitats, etc. because they've become too imprinted with humans or in order to ensure their survival (like this guy) are fine in my books. Just because it's cute doesn't give you the right to have it as a pet.

  • @streeTkiDwannaBe

    read the description dumbass.

  • @v8subie Talking about the people commenting on here who want a porcupine as a pet now dumbass.

He reminds me of a sloth :D

  • Porcupine: uahhh its so hard to climb!

    3 mins later.

Finally almost there ah no i give up.

  • hes like a sloth

    lol

  • It's a rodent so it's essentially a spiked guinea pig. But the temper is different. Guinea pigs are more timid.

  • Baby porcupines don't have quils yet. but any way this little guy is so cute. Is it a male or female?

  • i love it when she said come on little guy u can do it and he so cute

  • Tehdru you are so stupid that was a porcupine are that did have quills i think you are thinking of a hedgehog they to have quills that are a cream yellow not white and MARYJAMESMURDOCH you to are stupid there is not such thing as an african pygmy porcupine but that is a porcupine

  • What is it with you and badgers?

  • @Alabamastar474

He's obviously developed some sort of badger complex over the years...

  • You act like you're speaking with some kind of authority but you don't even know that they cannot "fire" quills. Nice try though.

  • STUPID ITS A PORCUPINE STUPID!

  • i wish i could actually read Tehdru's comment!

  • You can. It was "This is not a porcupine it is a badger, porcupines have a coat that is full of thick white barbed spines also known as quills, which they are actually able to fire short distances at predators when threatened. Cute video though."

All you have to do to view comments like that is click "reply" and what they previously said comes up. Then if you don't want to reply, click discard.

  • @Tehdru

    You're absolutely clueless, aren't you?

    That is a baby porcupine.

    THIS is a baby badger:

    watch?v=wYd5o6rTl6s

A porcupine may shake his body in an attempt to drive it's quills into a foe, but he can't fire them. They normally lie relatively flat on its back. When threatened the porcupine will tense its muscles, making the quills stand erect. The quills are loose, and if you come in contact with them, they will dislodge into your skin (or your dog's muzzle).

    watch?v=_r2rDBVFAv4

  • When do his quills get hard and poky? Is he a type of porcupine that doesn't get sharp quills?

  • they go hard when he's threatened, as a defense mechanism. otherwise, it's practically fur.

  • That's interesting - I didn't know that! We don't have porcupines where I live. The only time I've seen a porcupine was in a pet store, and I believe it was called an African Pygmy porcupine, and that breed seems to be quite small and "poky" lol.

  • Maybe you mean an African Pygmy Hedgehog? They're fairly common hedgehogs in pet stores.

  • Comment removed

  • lmfao omg its so chubby n fluffy i cant stop smiling

  • Sooo adorable!

  • Why do people post such mean things to each otherm especialy with a video this cool. I have only ever seen a grown porcupine, ever a baby one. So for me it was interesting to see it being handled and how it reacts, climbs etc.

    Very cool creature and video.

  • aww

  • your'e an ignorant asshole....

  • Have you ever petted the porcupine?

  • Very adorable!!!!!

  • A+ in Gym, but D- for hygiene due to long nails.

  • first time I hear someone asociates long nails with degree of hygene :D

Most women are unhygenic too then, right ? Those filthy bastard long nail growing humans

  • its true, though. Nails are the biggest cause of infection. They go everywhere and germs just multiply in the nail.

You wipe your rear end with your hand, and you NEVER get rid of all the germs.

  • Well I would hope that you wouldn't wipe it with your fingernails..

  • That critter is insanely adorable. I had no idea that porcupines were climbers...the more you know, eh?

  • Dab =P

  • DisapprovingRabbits,

How is he doing now? I so hope he's well...that little cutie.

  • I bet it's thinking "I has a stool". lolz

  • can u get them a pets

  • I had no idea popcupines could climb, I thought they were mostly ground dwelling.. absolutely adorable though :3

  • ya sure? I think the greenish/chocolate stain you leave in your undies is uglier.

  • "Is that thing even human?"

    Wow.

  • 'Is that thing even human?'

It's a /porcupine/. You should read titles. And if you want to see something ugly, you should get a look at a mirror.

  • I'm sure that's what a lot of people say when they look at you :/

  • will you keep it when its older?

  • "Cruely as pets?" Wild animals are not pets. Are you saying that all pets suffer cruelty?

  • Why don't you read the info before you start shooting your mouth off? It's not a pet. It's mother was killed by a car and he is now living in a wildlife centre as he had been imprinted on humans.

  • WOW someone missed the memo.... read the video description seriously...

This is so great! He's such a sweetie <3

  • perhaps you should read the discription before you give your unecassary comment?

  • wow guys...umbreot is responding to all of the people who DO want them as pets...

    people are soo ignorant nowadays...

  • Is it as good as....TANGO MANGO TANGO!!!!

  • I want one!

  • They're not sharp yet??

  • hmm, they look like better pets than hedgehogs, seeing these makes sounds based on mood and this one looked bit more active than most hedgehogs iv seen, hmm i wish to learn more about these porcupine's :P theyr cute

  • aww how cute. x3

  • you can even pet them, hence its porcupet name

  • THE CARPET IS MADE OF HOT LAVA

  • XD like totally

  • HAHAHAHA i used to love that game when i was a kid

  • LOL

  • rofl. o.o

    game? xD

    what game!? :P

  • ROFL!!! NICE XD

  • They're too adorable. Thanks

  • very cool

  • This would make a great Minnesota Minute video! I am with E-Democracy and we're helping to promote the online video contest hosted by the Bell Museum of Natural History as part of the Minnesota Sesquicentennial celebration activities. If you have a video that shows how people value and help to improve or maintain Minnesota's natural environment, add the tag MyMinnesotaMinute to submit. If you don't, create one! • i wonder if u actually let him go into then wild or on display in a local zoo??

  • Oww so cute! R.I.P porcupines mother!

  • i want one! when it was hanging upside down, i bet he was like "erm... could you put the camera down for a sec and help me back up please?" lol

  • These porcupet videos are fascinating. Make me realize how ignorant I was about porcupines. For example, I had no idea they were as agile and climby as this.

Ditto the other film where it's holding the bit of banana up to eat in (what a human might presume to call) such an "advanced" fashion.

  • and yes,you can pet them,hence a porcupet

  • The name for baby porcupines has nothing to do with touching them.

  • you crazy uh?

because you have never saw people raising them as domestic animals.

the name, yes, has to do with touching them

  • is a different kind of porcupine, one to be taken home without problems. I read that before

ferretocious does not make a difference between a wild porcupine and a porcupet

  • If you've ever been underneath a tree with a porcupine in it it's actually pretty frightening. I was taking pictures of one from down below after I accidently scared it up the tree and the whole time was dreading a 30 pound ball of spikes falling and landing on me ;x

  • If you read the "ABOUT THIS VIDEO" you will all see it is a rescued porcupine baby now staying at a nature center! People do NOT suck when they are saving lives...any life...

Now, how would this baby learn, since his mother died? Or would ya leave him to starve and have predators get him...He is very very lucky!!!!

On another note, this is adorable!!!!!

  • I was just wondering what kind of porcupine this is. IT'S ADORABLE!!!!!!!!

  • No, you cannot keep a porcupine as a pet. This is the wildlife care thingie mabober, and they probobly rescued it and (hopefully) return it to the wild. A porcupine is an animal that deserves to be in the wild, thats where it's real home is.

  • yes u can i have a baby porcipine and i bought it at the pet store u r wrong and yes thats where its real home is but u can still have it as a pet:)

  • No, you cannot keep a porcupine as a pet. This is the wildlife care thingie mabober, and they probobly rescued it and (hopefully) return it to the wild. A porcupine is an animal that deserves to be in the wild, thats where it's real home is.

  • ya but exactly, they could have saved it. and ur just dissing urself right now

  • what about spiders? got u there

  • what about spiders? got u there

  • Oh my GOD that is adorable! Can I have one? ;)

  • i didnt even realize porcupines climbed

  • this porcupine's soo cute!

  • cute!

bet he's thinkin, "what the hell kinda tree is this?!" :D

  • u could keep a porcupine as a pet??!!! i want one!!!!

  • where can i buy one of these guys?

  • u dont buy them probably....they most likely saved it or something../.

  • This statement makes me wonder if we are all God's children.

  • There is no God. Owned.

  • Maybe you should keep your dog away from porcupines(and other wild animals).

  • cute ;D

  • that porcupine is so fluffy 'n' cute i just wanna hug it well i would if i wouldn't get quills all im me hehe

  • that porcupine was nice but wht r u guna do when it gets its quills and all that?

  • from what I can tell it already has its quills. The place where its filmed is at a nature center so im sure they can manage a few quills :P

  • man! is that lil' creature cute!

  • He's adorable... but I must ask, how will you protect yourself against the quills? Are you going to release him into the wild upon reaching adulthood?
