MinusG - I visited this croc farm, I met Mick, I watched him sit on Gregory. I asked Mick about croc farms because I had moral issues too : they provide meat, leather, help the tourist trade and educate us about crocs. I learnt crocs aren't dangererous, they do what they do because that's nature. Breeding crocs, no different to breeding cows, and the farms are educational. Even if crocs are bred for leather, at least it is sustainable and doesn't rape & cause war like oil based plastics.

Mick explained that for every 1kg of food a croc eats he puts on 0.75 kg of weight. They are fed on raw chicken, so most of that weight is protein - i.e. muscle. They energy from the chicken fat, and given the size of him he'll soon burn that off given they don't get fed a great amount. A croc can go one year without a meal.
