There is a LOT of iron in that block. My dad had a 52 G (56583) that was bored out .750!!! Had a head from a '38 G and a straight gas manifold. It dynoed at 65 hp. I pulled a 12' CCA field cultivator at full 8" depth in 4th gear; a 10' fertilizer spreader, a 10' disk, and a 10' drag all at once in 3rd gear; and a 5 knife anhydrous applicator at 12" depth in 4th gear. To quote an article from Two Cylinder magazine: "Compared to the A, the G was a bully!"
dont worry about taking off that straight pipe. the muffler makes 20% more hp on a dyno than the straight pipe on my stock B, 48, we even tried different length pipes & tuned on it awhile. oval muffler for a 530 makes factory rated 28hp on the pulley & best we got with straight pipe was 23. same day back to back.
Was this engine already broke in when it was on the dyno? I buddy of mine has a 51 G .090 over aluminum pistons with a gas manifold and it made 55hp. Only difference is he is running a straight stack and a K&N air filter.
@79fordblake Ya, there is probably 100 hours on the engine. Every dyno is different. We put a fresh Farmall H with powercraters on it and got 28 hp on the dyno. We put a MM Z that is pretty fresh too on this dyno, 28 hp. All low readings in my opinion. But, it is just for fun. I took the straight pipe off. My 3 year old niece don't like it that loud. And she loves her uncles Deere. Thanks for watching.
@plowboy1943, yeah I hear that, I love these old deeres. My buddy uses his G for pulling only. It will pull the 7500 pound class in 2nd gear. I got three A John Deeres,
