How to setup Linksys router port triggering

For people with Linksys, there is no username, just type in: "admin" as the password, and nothing else.

My brother and I are trying to play wirelessly on the same router but having issues. It's a linksys.

I have set up my port triggering as follows:  Triggered/Forwarded Ranges: 88-88, 3074-3074, 53-53, 80-80.

When both Xboxes are connected, one will have open NAT while the other strict. Am I missing something here? Is it modem related? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Forgot to mention...my DMZ is disabled, Upnp is on, and MTU is set at 1364.

@MrJannik666 youre router is kind of like a database for youre internet. Ask your mom or dad what it is. Tell me what brand it it and ill tell u how to reset it.

the address to type in the browser varies based on your ISP use what ever the gateway is (ip address minus the last set of number(s)

also the password can vary based on the router model try searching for your specific models default password.

Open ports 7777 and 11138

Make sure your firewall knows that it's okay to open these ports. Soo it's going to be like this port 7777 to port 11138

@EYEG15 DON'T DO THIS!!! You are opening way too many ports!!! Its like leaving your back door open for people to steal stuff. Only open 87-89 UDP, 3073-3075 TCP&UDP, 79-81 TCP and 52-54 TCP&UDP. They are all the Ports that XBL use and only open them on your Xbox 360's IP address (you can find this on network config on Xbox). Also NEVER enable DMZ because it opens all the ports on the selected internet protocol.

make sure UPNP is turned on also, and set your xbox ip address back to automatic DHCP if you had changed it previously to static.

Probably the best "port forwarding" tutorial out there. The others are either douchers who can't speak properly or a dbag whom thinks he has to go into intirely to much detail. This is so quick and to the point.

Also, 192.168.1.1 only works for me, when using my linksys router. Other routers tend to have different IP's.

@xXxSnakierWolfxXx Reset Linksys Router to factory default and power cycle router two too three times.

Update router firmware from linksys.com and upload to your router.

Once new firmware is uploaded power cycle one more time, Then type 192.168.1.1 on your URL

@davidkarji11 ok what you need to do is locate your default gateway, so what you do is

1. Click start

2. move mouse over to "Run" and click it

3. type in "cmd"

4. when the command prompt pops up, type in "ipconfig /all" (without the quotes)

5. then look for your default gateway number and type that in, that will be your router's IP address

ok i get that but my router site dont have these features.i mean it only has basic setup,advance setup and status.it dont show no application&gaming kinda stuff.my router model is gigaset sx682 wimax.and the wierdest part is that it dosen't even want any password.what the hell am i using can u pls help me out here.

@adnan51093 dude just add '/admin' to the end of your ip address on your web browser and the main menu should show up. Once you put in the password you should be able to change the settings. Btw I've tried port forwarding on the sx682 for my ps3 but it didn't work for me.

@KratanakTV you will find all of the COD or MW2 ports are going to be 3074 i believe TCP, if not that then UDP, if that don't then try both, plus you want to open port 80 TCP

Reset linksys router then reset your linksys wireless card on computer."note" make sure that old linksys information is not saved on computer or esl it's going to keep saying unable to connect. This should help you out.

Set a different Static IP for the xbox and you have to open the ports for the specific xboxs on your router

This works for wireless as well. Note (I'm running off of my computers pci card to the router which is in my living room its about 30 feet away and I have a strong connection.) If your running Norton make sure to set your xbox360 to allow in full trust. linksys router still filters a bit of information that comes from the xbox360. You will see a speed difference as you play

so hold on, what does this do exactly and will it work for wireless? I play my 360 online and my connection drops every 20 minutes. I also got comcast which sucks, plus i got a laptop, desktop, house phone and 360 all wireless connected to my linksys router. Will this make it not drop anymore?

Yes, less drop time more play time. OPEN ports and you will see. If your running wireless make sure to set bitrate at a high speed for your xbox360 so you have less of a lag if anyone esle is going to use your internet you will have a high transfer rate.
