That's not always a good thing. Sometimes the weird kid getting bullied is legitimately crazy. I defended this kid who has ADHD and Asperger's from some bullies in high school. Now I have this manipulative, remorseless, lying thief always coming around my house. Whenever I tell him to fuck off, he tries to kill himself and his mom threatens to sue. Not only that, my association with him completely killed what little social life I had.
Stand up for yourself...first ignore, walk away, tell a adult, but if those dont work nothing wrong with fighting because that will for surr make the bully stop . Some states have strict anti-bullying laws. And talk to her about her problems as much as possible and remind her to always hold her head high. No one has the right to judge anyone.

Wrong message. Bullying is fueled by the idea that the victim is weak. The most effective message would be to stand up for yourself. Once a bully sees that you're not going to take their crap it may lead to a physical confrontation, but win or lose that bully will know you're not weak and will leave you alone. Stepping in to help still leaves the impression on the bully that the victim is weak. If anything explain to the person they have to standup for himself/herself.
As a psychiatrist I support bullying to no end. Because of bullying my business is booming. Bullies destroy their victims self worth and then the victims parents pay me $400 a week to fix their whining children. And by the way, I do not charge $400 a session. I charge $200 a session but make the sessions two times a week so I can make as much money as possible. And on another note I don't see my clients as patients, I see them as dollar signs.

We are teaching kids to fight other peoples battles and to go snitch on the bully. My father taught me that if i am getting picked on to stand up for myself and fight the guy if i have to. If i get my ass beat than i get my ass beat.
@krisstopher07 No one says to fight another's fight. Stand with them and prevent the fight. When you take something good like telling a teacher or other adult in to that a child is being abused (aka bullied) by someone and label it "snitching," you take power away from the child and teach them that they they are alone and powerless. The main point here is to show people being abused that they are not alone, and that they can do something to help the bully see that what they are doing is wrong.
@TheJessicaAnthony I've seen kids stand up for each other in the middle school. I don't recall seeing it in high school though, but most bullies are "smart" enough to keep it out of view. What's REALLY sad is when adults aren't willing to step in to stop it, or worse, when they haven't grown out of being bullies themselves. Kids are still growing and learning how to be reasonable and responsible...adults should know better.
Unfortunately, due to the kind of person I am, I wouldn't just stand next to the kid, I probably would have either decked the bully in the face or shoved him to the ground. (Tried at least. I'm small, so I probably would have failed.)

I used to go to a school that was just hell with all the bullying. I guess I got lucky, I was never bullied; but the best course of action is always to make friends and if a bully does physically attack you then hit them back, even if you lose they will back off. Let them know that you will not take it sitting down. Telling a teacher normally makes things worse.

i have never seen anything in a anti bullying commercial/psa/whatever happen in my 8 years of grammar school. the bullying that goes on basically goes from 5th to 7th grade, and it's all about making fun of the annoying kids. thats whenever kids realize that some of there classmates are either cooler than them or weirder than them. i have also never seen a quiet kid like that get picked on, it's always the kid with the weird voice that wont leave "the cool kids" alone

I was bullied before i was my younger brother, we both took care of our problem, we both made the bully throw the first punch which we both ducked, then me an brother threw punches back striking where we aimed them. if you don't want to be bullied; in my mind 1 stare that bully down to where he'll either swing at you or walk away from u, 2 if the bully doesn't leave don't back down from the bully, you do that he'll win anyway in scaring you. 3 if you can make that bully see reason go for it.

When you take something good like telling a teacher or other adult in to that a child is being abused (aka bullied) by someone and label it "snitching," you take power away from the child and teach them that they they are alone and powerless. The main point here is to show people being abused that they are not alone, and that they can do something to help the bully see that what they are doing is wrong.

What's REALLY sad is when adults aren't willing to step in to stop it, or worse, when they haven't grown out of being bullies themselves. Kids are still growing and learning how to be reasonable and responsible...adults should know better.
