Seems like every Nirvana vid on YouTube has people saying things like "Man, I wished I lived in the nineties" or, "Nineties rock was so much better than now."... The truth is, kids, that like now, the majority of the popular music in the nineties was souless garbage. Nirvana was simply one of the few popular bands that was any good at all...They were sharing chart space with Garth Brooks, Celine Dion, and Michael Jackson. Dont get the idea that the nineties were flawless....

@wasabiP The problem is that you cant expect the mainstream (MTV, Rolling Stone magazine) to cue you into decent music....It takes a bit of searching and effort on behalf of the listener. If you live in a town that provides it, go out and see shows from local bands and support them if they are good.

And, most importantly, dont forget to look to the past for great music that influenced bands like Nirvana to begin with (Sabbath, Johnny Thunders, The Vaselines, David Bowie, all the way back to Leadbelly)
