  • Is his doublebass way off in the end or do I just not get this?

  • there are a lot of people out htere that just can't comprehend it's statistical density in it's basic form .lol like zappa would say . in other words it's just too much for their little brain to handle lol.

  • 1:42 maybe in this part he was looking her wife

  • Truly amazing! Without a doubt brilliant! Love the merging of acoustic and electric! Something I'm looking to explore!!!

  • At the last part, it seems as though an earthquake has hit the area, yet he's still happily drumming away!

  • i think he is the best asian drummer....

  • @DrummerZful You don't have to think about it, because it's true :3

  • my speakers nearly died here

  • Didnt he come up with the zidljian k hybrid series. those are probably my favorite cymbals ever

  • さすが、日本が世界に誇る天才。フレーズも独特でチョーかっこいい。めちゃめちゃセンスがいいです。他の追随を許さない圧倒的な存在ですな。

  • You can tell that he really enjoys what he's doing, just with that smile, and a polite "thank you" at the end.

  • Akira Jimbo is the true multitasking musician-octopus on the drumset! Souds amazing even without his signature electronic pads and triggers... his left-foot clave is awesome!

  • When Zildjian wants you to help them create a new cymbal line, you know you're doing something right :P

  • This guy is absolutely fantastic!!!!

  • Asians can do everything

  • 神!

    すげえ・・・

  • is he playing that block with his left foot???? wow skill

  • It was nice Akira!!!

  • I saw him once at a clinic playing with his friend, both amazing. The incorporation of Electronic and acoustic to create a 1 man orchestra is pure talent.

    YAMAHA!

  • 56 Dont Like The Fucking Drums?

  • The best thing about watching Akira play is seeing the joy on his face as he plays.

  • holy crap, he's....umm....good

  • 1 word

    fuck

  • jesus H. christ. this makes tony royster look like a child.

  • the best of the best. No other drummer compares. If only more people listened to Casiopea.

  • keren cuy

  • trop facile,lol!!!

  • One word.

    Amazing.

  • This guy is overrated. All chops, no musicality.

  • @Bango61

    Dude, please, explain yourself.

  • @Bango61 youre an idiot.

  • Asian = Cheat

  • how his do that?

  • he makes it look so effortless! WOW!!!!

  • I am just surprised 53 people out there gave this a thumbs down. What the heck is wrong with people>? Can't you just enjoy your life without tearing talented people down? I'd loooooove to see any ONE of those 53 people accomplish 4 way independance with a clave in 6/7 doing single stroke rolls at blazzing speeds over it, with a casual smile playing 3 different signatures in free form in front af a huge crowd. This is a great video Akira, you rock.

  • @JMLdesigns

dont woeey man, i dont think they can ever hear it

  • @JMLdesigns

I am more surprised that Lady Gaga is called "singer", when she is only a puppet.

Quality is not mainstream. This is a rule.

    :-)

  • @JMLdesigns the guy is great no doubt, but honestly i dont see what is wrong with people not liking the video, maybe they dont like drums, maybe they dont like how it sounds, who cares i like it but i dont expect every damn person to thumbs it up.

  • @JMLdesigns oo damn... I have yet alot to learn about the art of being a percussionist, my class mates say being a percussionist is easy; cant wait till i show this to them hehe.....arrogant little bitches.

  • @rendez121212 yeah I freakin' hate how people think drummers and percussionist are simpletons... or their instrument is easier pfft...

  • @rendez121212 Show them Akira, Horacio Hernandez, and Dafnis Prieto for some added goodness. Throw in some Dennis chambers too...

  • @JMLdesigns If i'm not mistaken there is no such thing as 6/7 time.

  • @konarider haha there is...its really hard XD like....REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY hard

  • @JMLdesigns well i guess u wanted to write 6/8 not 6/7, tho he doesnt play the original clave but the rumba clave which is in 4/4. To stop being a smartass i want to say that akiras independence is fucking incredible and if i would ever rate a video by "thumping" i would of cause thump him up.

  • wonderfull !

  • @pooperscoopr69 - Great opinion - let's see your video - no really - put you video where your mouth is. You must be one hell of a musician and I must be living in Bizzaro World because I have never heard of you.

Look forward to seeing your video there Poopboy

  • that was really awesome!

  • Ta Ta, Ta Ta Ta.....!

  • dont rate this drummer in the slightest

  • Jajaja and some guys said that Joey and Portnoy are the best! again jajaja

  • @comicelaya joey is shite but prtnoy is awsome.

  • double peds are just too dam simple for him.. props! *bow

  • Exceedingly unmusical.

  • @pooperscoopr69 ...just cuz you cant comprehend the beat he;s playing dont say its unmusical. he's using an afro-cuban musical standard 3-2 clave pattern, his phrasing is precise but not the typical phrasing you might be use to hearing. and then there is his dexterity and vocabulary...its not a common thing to hear someone play this way....but the musicality of it is superior.

  • incredible speed, precision and technique, but kinda dull to listen to. i just couldnt get into it

  • the master of independence

  • for the most part it seems that he is really feeling the rhythm, story telling, and giving away a part of himself through the music and - merely pounding out a beat and in that is his originality paired with technical skill. Its like having a good vocabulary to be able to express your most accurate thoughts. Paired also with a sense of humility that does not offend his accomplishment.

  • i love his left foot. i love it. he just keeps it going no matter what. friggin beast!

  • Ii guess all the dislikes were from people expecting him to to drum as if he's in a metal band. Stupid people they are.

  • Damn this guy sucks.

  • @abloobudoo009 please leave. like NOW

  • four years ago, and this hasn't even hit a million views? something's wrong...

  • holy fucking shit

  • excelente baterista !

  • Impresionante, genial, brillante, excepcional. \m/

  • I love how he smiles when he knows he's doing something baller :)

  • the clave is freakin impressive as hell!

  • wwww

  • there was another casiopea's drummer which style was pretty complicated and difficult but i don't remember the name

  • @Satiaraha

    Takashi Sasaki (1976–1979)

    Akira Jimbo (1980–1989, 1997 (Part Time)-2006)

    Masaaki Hiyama (1990–1993)

    Noriaki Kumagai (1993–1997)

There's the list of all of Casiopea's drummers.

  • i saw him do a drum clinic. all i could say was WOW

  • this is one of my greatest influences in drumming. my respect to this man

  • sucks!!

  • @canidian1 yeh....eat shit!!!

  • so relaxed and cool. this guy is sick

  • Ебашит))

  • Verdammte sch... ist der Mann gut!!!!

  • Always love Akira Jimbo

  • why does he use a double pedal instead of two bass drums?

  • @Medsas i've never really understood the point of 2 bass drums. The pro is they look cool. The con is they take up room. I think drumsets with 2 bass drums are just for show.

  • @trashbash2001 oh yeah if you have limited room you don't need it, but I think a pro like Jimbo can afford it....

  • @trashbash2001 it rings out better when you get 2 bass drum. one drum with two kicks lacks the pump

  • @trashbash2001 even worse are the drums sets with 3 or even 4 bass drums...its just for show, not other reason, if anything, its less convenient.

  • @trashbash2001 2 bassdrums are better because then you get a better sound because there are two drums - there is more "oomph". But the main reason I would take two bass drums over one is that with a double pedal, you always have the left foot lagging due to the drive shaft. Having two bass drums with two equal foot pedals is a way (although expensive) to get around this problem. I just hate having to deal with sloppy drive shafts.

  • @metalmike83 I have to agree with you on all of that.

  • 0:33 No way!

  • this is frickin awesome! one of the only drummers i've seen that REALLY looks like they're enjoying themselves :D

  • He is one sick individual...I want to bear his children.

  • Awesome!

  • dang he can play the drums, awesome tecnic and polyrythm.

  • damn °_°

  • How does he play the wood block and open and close his hi hats at the same time?

  • @decentdrummer911

    I believe it's a metronom

  • No, metronomes give a straight tempo. You can see his left foot move at the exact same hits as the wood block.

  • @decentdrummer911 it looks like he uses his left foot for both, possible using a modified pedel with a clutch or whatever they are called (im not too tight on termonology) basically its a switch you can flick to the side and it disengages one function of the pedel, or you move your foot to a position where you kick the pedel and that lever at the same time and it works both, it can be used to make double bass beats with one foot and stuff. Im just educated guessing tho

  • or just two thin pedels side by side and a standard clutch on the hi-hat hmm, fascinating though. he has incredible limb independence

  • I saw him live once here at Guadalajara, MEX. He do uses his left foot to hit both the bass drum AND the wood block. He twistes the ankle so the heel is on the pedal for the wood and the toe is pressing the pedal for the double bass drum. It's a pretty akward position, but he really masters the technique, so he can keep the double bass beat, but spicies it with the wood block. Pretty amazing...

  • no he shares his foot with the two pedals

  • He's using both sides of his foot . I saw it once in one of the older vids. cool technique

  • @decentdrummer911 he i hitting the wood block with a left food pedal! (you see thomas lang do this many times)

  • I saw him live once.

  • Wow.....amazing.

  • how many limbs does he have? man i wish i had half of his talent

  • 0:33

    FERA

  • u just jizzed my pants

  • lol. you should probably re-read that.

  • i meant:

    I just jizzed my pants

  • advanced but rough

  • amazing

  • geht auf meinen kanal

  • Die Cowbell hört sich immer so geil an =)

Das coolste Video mit 'ner Cowbell ist das Tribute-Konzert für Buddy-Rich mit Dave Weckl und Co.

  • MAYBE UR A TRAVIS BARKER FAN

  • he is incredible. one of the best drummers i have ever seen

  • i see akira jimbo playing drums and i..............jizz in my pants!

  • severe chops

  • the snare sounds perfect

  • The independence is very heavy.

  • i love how he looks so happy when he plays....and hes got really funky beats too

  • @rdaniels95 he´s happy because his parents survived the a-bomb.

  • i love how hes just fucking smiling there.

  • really one of my favorite drummers, if thats possible....

  • limb independence much???

  • agreed.. what coordination its unbelievable :/

  • Separates the men from the boys.

Shame I haven't even hit puberty yet...

  • Awesome Japanese player!!!!

  • akira jimbo is the man, nice groove, and feeling, plus keeping the clave going like that is pro

  • at 03:30 he´s totally freakin out :D

    awesome!

  • what is that thing in front of his bass??

  • It's a Yamaha Subkick. It's a low frequency capture device. It captures frequencies below 100Hz and its designed to bring out the natural sound of the bass drum. It has a 6 1/2" woofer to capture the sounds and is shockmounted inside a 7 ply Mahogany/ Birch shell. The outer part that you see is a mesh head which adds some sustain. and it has an XLR output just like a normal microphone. i have used it many times recording. it's awesome

  • one of my favorite tools as an engineer, back in the 80's and 90's i would use a 15 inch speaker as an input transformer till the subkick came out

  • it's a subwoofer for the bass drum to bring out the "woomf"

  • Yamaha subkick. Gives you more low end in the bassdrum when paired up with a PA system.

  • dave weckl is better

  • well duh.....that goes for everybody

  • he is a monster...1 of the best in the world...

  • Meraviglioso

  • yeah very good ! but missing something??????

  • Yeah. I agree. I'm not feeling it. Not enough grove for my taste. Maybe the camera sound isnt helping? Who knows. But respect.

  • Oh. My.God.

  • 1 of his best solo

  • This guy is amazing... End of discussion!

  • what? not feelin it? this guy is awesome

  • I saw this guy in concert AMAZING

  • It's good, but I'm just not feeling it.

  • from 2:43 until 2:55 so great!!!!!!!

  • kamen rider playing drums lololololol

  • he looks like he didn't really want to be a drummer, but he just has the talent for it.

  • Although this guy is technically awesome, but i feel, he lacks of feeling. Different with Ian Paice from Deep Purple.. Somehow I can "feel" his drum is singing.

for Akira's fans dont b upset. he's still the best in asia though after gilang ramadhan

  • I'm with you,he doesn't get the feeling,sounds like a machine

  • the best in asia

  • shut up haters...this guy rules

  • same part i liked most;)

  • este cabron mas Feo no puede ser, pero toca super brutal de bien.

  • LOL

  • ulf stricker and his brother bodo stricker are better..but he is very great too^^

  • 0:34 fucking awesome beat over 2/3 clave! this guy is amazing.

  • gotta love japanese drummers :D

  • SAMPAH!!!!

  • Who do you think you are? Sampah is indonesian language for rubbish..

do you think you can be that good?? or I put in your indonesian language > apakah kamu bisa sehebat dia?

    Grow Up man...

  • talk english both...

  • bodoh kw ya yang ginian kw bilang sampah??

  • akira's face show he is happy behind the kit cool drummer......qnd from japan too...sick!!!!!!!!

  • Well i would say it has some latin, because he is playing basic 2:3 clave with his foot, while doing a timbale style solo on his snare and toms. and the double bass isn't really that fast, and it doesn't ruin the video, it gives it a unique style.

  • My goodness, It's about the music.

each musician puts his or her touch. I don't like poka music but, I know that those musicians are playing coolstuff

that goes with that kind of music. We are acting just like those church people who think that only they know what is wright.

Chill out my bro's we are in this together.

Steve Gadd said that Peace theprofessorwilliam.

  • Peart's solos are more of a performance than a technical display. He is a fine drummer, but he isn't great technically. Drums solos were started, so drummers can show their technique and skill.

  • Yoshiki is better

  • Another drummer with ZEN like skills. Yes very admirable skills. Can you imagine how his skills as a martial artist would be.

  • lol

  • Keep your worthless uneducated opinions to yourself please. How can you watch a latin drum solo and say with a straight face that there's no rhythm? And... your type of comments are always followed by "check Neil Peart out". I'm absolutely sure that mister Peart would appreciate this solo himself and wouldn't like to have some random noob comparing himself to every damn drumming video on YouTube. They're both amazing drummers and you should go feel ashamed in a corner.

  • I absolutely agree

  • Why worthless?? and why keep them to himself?? Wtf are you talking about? This is the point of commenting, expressing opinions. I agree with him, there's no groove in that video, yeah, he plays fast as hell but that's it, how can YOU say this is a latin drum solo the moment half of the vid is covered with lightning speed double bass drumming? I dont see why two cowbells in the offbeat give this speed-show a latin touch. Maybe you need to keep stuff to yourself, no?

  • So the double bass at the end spoils the whole solo? You could've just put it that way and not start nitpicking, you troll. I'm not saying Akira's latin-playing is the best in the world but saying that this solo "has nothing" is going too far.
