@lancepappazecus okay so your a cadet from here, but uhm, the one thing seperating this school from the others is that its considered a vocational college, so at the least you can get scolarships, the army (if your looking to become a soldier), Grants and other federal aid, where as at ATP, even though you get the same licenses in 5 months, the 54,000 you have to pay unless you have VA benefits.
@Sharod101 you don't get the same thing in 5 months for $54K. ATP does not give you all of the information up front. There FAA pass rate is horrible, they don't teach you squat they expect you to learn it all YOURSELF. That is why only one or two of their locations is FAA 141 approved, the rest is part 61. ATP is NOT accreditted either!! BTW, do you REALLY expect to meet the new 1500 hours of flight time requirement in 5 months?? Do the MATH... another one of ATP false marketting ploys
@derail160 well most people stay after their 5 months, to instruct with provided living and a base salary ($20,000+/yr). so if you stayed 10-18 months, you would get 1. most of your money back, 2. you'd build more experience than you would at DCA.
in my opinion, its based much more on what you can afford, and how much time you're willing to give up. 54K vs 90-100K (or even 220K at ERAU), and giving up 5 months+instructing, 2 years or 4 years at ERAU
@Sharod101 instructing at DCA will earn most of your money back as well and because DCA is accreditted, I was able to transfer 36 college credits to ERAU and shaved a year's worth of college tuition off my costs. I have had the unfortunate experience of flying with ATP pilots and sadly will never fly in those inept people again. Alyhough ATP has many locations, most of them are holes. ATP has a poor FAA pass rate, and ATP's training is no where the caliber of training that you get at DCA.
@derail160 well i'm not planning on attending ERAU period, unless the army pays off at least 50%, 45% more on scolarships and grants, i'll pay max 15K a year at ERAU.
but i'm planning to go to Westpoint maj in physics, get post academy school done (at DCA because its an institution, not just a flight school), (if not than Purdue Uni, FIT or ASU, maj in physics, minor in aeronautical sciences, a complete bogas degree, and business, and army ROTC) and do my time in the military, and go civilian
"Building more experience than DCA is a false statement/ Most all of the senior flight instructorsat DCA have over 1000 hoursTT w// 800+ DUAL instruction GIVEN. We will all need 1500 hours of flight time for regionals - You're not going to get 1500 hrs of quality flight time in 12 months so 2 years is very realistic and DCA"s program knocks off a year of college b/c they're accreditted. Better training in better aircraft - that 's the DCA difference - Like most things: You pay for what you get.
@lancepappazecus well you are not far away from the truth.I was there 11 years back and the things there where us you said!!!! All nice and smiling until you get there remind's me the military first all nice and smile and then good luck!!!! Anyway that was long time ago!!!!Airlines are the same crap!!!!
@lancepappazecus I really don't understand your complaint. I experienced the exact opposit. I put forward my best attitude, spent time in the learning center getting FREE HELP & TUTORING WHEN NEEDED and stayed out of the bars and other distractions and completed 0-CFI in about 11 months spent about $55-$60K on training. My charges were always correct and I kept track of everything I spent. Always presented myself in a professional way - had no problems!! Looking forward to CFII and Standz...
@lancepappazecus The place has a learning resource center where you get FREE TUTORING, you have ground school instructor AND a separate flight instructor. There is now a studemt mentor program. I group studied with my class mates and room mates.... You get out what you put in to it. Sounds like you didn't put too much in to it......
@lancepappazecus Wow! Looks like you have nothing better to do except sit here on the blogs and point fingers and complain how it's you against the world. We all know it's everyone else's fault but your own Love the abusive threat Pure class Tells us all about the kind of person you are I think you have clearly proven the type of jealous hater you are wth your threats of broken noses. It's actually kind of funny how rowled up and defensive you got. Dont bother replying. Enjoy your miserable life
Or just join the Air Force and go to UPT, where they pay you to learn to fly, and continue to pay you as you rack up hours. And was that a yaw string I saw on that landing clip? HAHA. What was that, a glider? We don't have that pussy stuff in the Air Force. Were those clouds in the sky I saw HAHAHAAAA. We don't put up with that shit in the Air Force.
DCA is really expensive because you do private in comercial in SR-20 (correct me if I am wrong)
But the SR-20 is and EXPENSIVE aircraft and 190 hours (141 required for CPL) Is really high when mutiplied by the rental cost of a SR-20 (270/hr at my FLight school)
You are correct that you get your PPL & CPL in the SR20, however I'm not sure where you're getting your hour totals from. DCA is a Part 141 flight school and the req'd hours are a lot less than part 61. The nice part of training in the Cirrus is that you are getting TAA and glass experience. Don't believe the 200K figures being quoted earlier, that's way off base. DCA's price on the SR20 is quite a lot less than 270/hr
@FlyNtheUS I thought i had read that the required time for a cpl in 141 is 190 or around there I could be wrong but I personally would like a flight school to put more money into nicer multi-engine aircraft than the primary flight aircraft which if you notice the ME aircraft arent very nice due to the focus on the SR20
@SpartanW98 They have a partnership with ERAU in Orlando and you get about a year's worth of college credit. There are a bunch of DCA instructors at ERAU - Orlando
Decided against just straight aviation schools cause i wanted a bachelors in aviation and management. So i went to Ohio University where im doing the double major right now. With hiring the way it is it couldn't hurt to have a 4 year degree to be ahead.
I learned to fly at DCA 18 years ago (Comair Aviation Academy then) and I do not care what anybody says...It is a great school. Yes, there are other schools and many of them are good too, some maybe better some maybe not: If you are not 100% commited to acting like a professional pilot from the first tour until you have made instructor and worked as an instructor then you wil NOT do well at DCA. The path to an airliner right seat at DCA is a difficult one for a selct few.
What does everybody think of Flight Safety Academy or Pan Am????
DCA has great aviation connections, improved inventory and a new dorm building but a poor management and a proven neglegance attitude which MUST improve!!
Im going to ATP in a few years. And guess what i get the same training as the people at Delta connection academy. and guess what im not gana be 100,000 dollars in the hole. by all means im not telling you not to go there. But how the hell are you gana be able to pay off a 200,000 dollar loan when you are only getting paid 20-40k your first few years? just remember debt is a dream killer guys!
@packerfan084 yeah its debt killer but if you love avaitaion and thats your dream you will follow it weather you are in debt or not thats why the goverment made finacial aid which covers for the things every flight school has that im going to attend embry riddle and i dont care about the cost im not rich im gonna try finacial aid
Good for you. That's your decision. I just do not want to still be paying off loans thirty years down the road, and barely scraping buy. I want to live a good lifestyle. But that is how i view it. If you view it like that than i respect your decision.
@packerfan084 yeah dude i umderstand what you mean and i understand but if flying is a dream g ofor it i currently fly cessnas and piper at a regional airport and i have 10 hours and sometimes lifes tough because u dont know what i gro thru so whenever im in the air i feel free and i feel like nothing is wrong and everythings good thats why i would persue your carrer no matter what it takes
Very well. Then you don't know how to manage money. You don't need to go to Embry-Riddle to land a job at an airline and neither do you need to go to delta connection academy. They both teach you to pass FAA check rides and that is it. Go wherever you feel fits best within your budget. Don't think going to one place or the other makes you a better pilot because it does not and in my opinion, it is not worth the cost.
kfster00: I went down there and visited and it was so much more than I had envisioned it would be. They are bigger and they are so much better organized and proffesional than the other 4 flight schools I have been visiting including the Las Vegas ATP location. Why are you so mad? You sound like you went there and failed... If you don't like the place then why even bother watching the videos and whine about it!
I cannot wait to go there. I'm going down this MOnday to tour the academy with expected start date in September (Granted I get accepted) This was a great video, thanks for posting it. How is the training there. I hear that it's the best in the nation and that they are very professional and will do everything they can to help you succeed!
that place is a rip off!! 2000 for each ground school. Incomplete lessons to repeat lessons will end up costing you over $100,000. You will never be able to pay it back.
They take you 100,000 dollars to do PPL through CFII. They are such swindlers. And they don't give you a guaranteed job interview for airlines. I've seen friends washing out from CFI training and they never got hired as instructor after spending 100,000 dollars plus living expenses in Sanford. My advice: DO NEVER GO THERE. I had an airline interview without going through Delta Connection Academy.
Great video. I was wondering if you would recommend Delta Connection Academy (Aerosim Academy) Did u get a job with the airlines afterwards?
