yeah, my compliments-you remember to face frank gambale.continua così-pick ups emg-good sounds.I don't love the pick ups emg or similare, but I listen other guitarist and in this case the mxr have a good sound
DUDE! You're playing the guitar I've been looking for since I was 13 years old, an '88 Les Paul custom w/EMG's and that beautiful crimson finish. How much do you want for it? I haven't seen that guitar anywhere!
If your have 1MEG pot for level, you are pretty much stuck with havint to have the level all the way. You can try and replace the pots for 100K. I got it like that for a while and the output was more pronounced. If you are using Germanium Diodes, try replacing the diodes to IN4148 or red LED's, this will in turn provide more output , be ready for a change in tone with any of this mods. Good Luck.
I think that this pedal sounds really well with a chorus pedal after. I build one myself way back but used 1n270 in assymetry and yes the distortion was over the top with added compression form the Diodes. I used a dual opamp OP270 very HIFI low noise. The volume knob 100kA is really hard to use I would recomend a 100kB for volume. It gives all the volume at 11 o'clock. ----This pedal does not work as a booster-- unless you change the diodes to LED's in assymetry
Hi there, I used IN4148. In this video the pedal is completely stock except for the Pots. I used B100K for the Gain and A100K for the Level. I have since replace the Pots with 10K and 1M reverse for the gain. Check this new video to see how it sounds when used as a clean boost in front of the amp. Replacing the potentiometers, tamed the pedal a lot and turned it almost in a clean boost. The IC Opamp is a 741.
You will get more distortion if using Germanium Diodes. The IN4148 will give you a cleaner sound. Using or adding LED's will clean the pedal even more.
Oh, ok! Increasing the resistance for the Drive pot increases the R2/R1 gain factor for the opamp, and increasing the resistance for the Level gives more voltage drop across it, and hence more volume?

I have a distortion + and the output needs to be on full all the because its very low. Is your clone like that? Can any mods be done to fix this?

Hi! Great tone! :-) Just wondering, did you get the circuit from TonePad? Coz I'm planning to build mine next week!
JohnJeevasingham 3 years ago
Yep! I replaced the pots with 100k and it change the tone and the gain. Stock it is a great boost. It is a crunchy pedal. And a pretty easy build.

Thanks for the tip! :-)
