Soooo happy you found this and shared it with us all. I think it's a great song. I don't know why this wasn't released, but thankfully I got to hear it.
This is from ABD 2K (Archives be Damned 2000) if you try and torrent it somewhere on the net you will find it, along wtih about 70 other Neil Young unreleased songs... Enjoy.
What a message!! I can't ever get enough of Neil Young and his music. He has to be one of the most expressive, emotional, creative artists of all time. So proud to be Canadian. Thank you for this post! So much!! min :-)
lacadam - nice .. I like it. But nothing from Neils unreleased stuff is as good as Everybody's Alone. The lyrics may be flawed but his voice and guitar are raw , stark , haunting me. Also some love Pochahonas but not me - Welfare Mothers on Live Rust was better as well as Powderfinger which is a masterpiece. Listen to Neil and creep Rick James of the Mynah Birds circa 1965 .. now that is a good song.
@1after909 Well sure it's my opinion as there are not many facts when it comes to taste. I just feel it so strongly that I said it. I do not try to be controversial .. I guess I just am.. take care.
dude your videos are excellent, imaginative and inspiring. Neil is my favourite, and your vids of his lesser known stuff here on youtube have brought them to everyone. Nice job!
One of my favourites of unreleased Neil songs, I have this one on the "Rock'n'Roll Cowboy" boot collection. The pictures you've found fit the mood perfectly, thanks for sharing these.
Great, great song - Listen to Water Boys To Close to Heaven, Thomas Dolby's I Sacare Myself, Sheryl Crows I Believe, and Bob Dylans If you See her say hello. You may be impressed. Tell me what you think, I'll be interested in your responce.
This is easily the greatest Neil Young song he never released...and that's saying a lot. This song should have been a classic "hit" in his library, but here it is as this brilliant fucking song of sadness and descent after a break up that teared him apart emotionally..fucking brilliant. Only Bob Dylan's Blood on the Track album comes close to the feeling Neil was feeling during this period. If I didn't say it already..Neil Yougn and Bob Dylan are easily the 2 greatest songwriters of all time.
You must checkout The Waterboys Too close to heaven if you like this one, Thoms Dolby's I scare myself and sheryl crows I believe. Dylans If you see her say hello is classic, the Blood on the track is really good.
Hi thanks barcelonaterry, over the years I've collected a lot of live bootleg performance's so much of his unreleased material are songs that he might have planned to put on an album, but never did for whatever reasons...I have a lot more, I enjoy sharing these songs..i'm sure fans like you enjoy them as much as i do..and who knows when the archives will be released...
Hey, thank you for posting great songs like this! I love Neil Young, he's the greatest, and it's good to be able to find his stuff out there. :) -Jen-
This is great Jon. Reassly beautiful song. Knocks spots off anything on Chrome Dreams 2 in my opinion. One of the most beautiful songs of his I've heard -- why's he never put it out?
completely agree with you david on both points...as to why he didn't put it out who knows...in his introduction to the song he said he had just written it, so that was in 1976...the albums he put out at that time were American Stars and Bars in '77 and Comes a Time in '78 both of which were more folk country tinged...so my guess would be he felt that song didn't fit the albums we was releasing...he's got plenty of other great ones he still hasn't released!!!
It would be lovely to have a live album of the best unreleased stuff - a Time Fades Away for the 21st century. sure fire number one. This song is also better than anything on Stars and Bars and Comes A Time!
Wow

@smoke117 In case you didn't notice, it was UNRELEASED. And yeah, Lennon/McCartney have nothing on Young/Dylan.
