That's just how it is in this game. The pitch is higher than it was on DKC2. Though sometimes, he sounds like something completely different when he gets hit.

Slight Correction: The 'B!' coins are used to pay Boomer on Kremtoa, which can be accessed as soon as you have the Hover Boat. Boomer will destroy the rocks blocking the entrance to each level . 1 Stage = 15 'B!' coins.
