This was the first game I bought when my family got a PC. I remembered thinking it must be some Chinese bootleg (now I know that Capcom actually allowed this travesty), but it was okay to help me get used to playing games with a keyboard. I did get my ass kicked by that stupid dog a number of times before I even made it to the main part of the game. Damn!!

umm... I was playing this game earlier and it went WAY to fast. It was like 3 times the speed yours was playing like. I couldn't get past those conveyor belts because there was literally not enough time to start running in a different direction. So I thought the game was made like that and I was really shocked. is there a setting im using thats wrong or what?

@qilieun Yeah, it was programmed with much slower computers in mind, so you'll probably have to run it from a program like DOSBox (free, check google) to play at a normal speed. And then you can use the F1 and F2 keys to adjust the speed even further from there.

- Typical Mega Man 8-bit graphics

- New stage layouts

- MUSIC

- Classic Mega Man enemies like Mets and Sniper Joes and Bubble Bats

- Bosses with GOOD AI

- Better weapons

- Basically, a whole new game inspired by shit, but good!

- (Lets agree to axe either Torch Man or Oil Man to have only 8 robot masters and change some other names as well,)

It's amazing how bad the licensed Capcom games for DOS were until Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. The no music part in inexcusable since Konami ported an almost NES perfect version of Castlevania using the PC Speaker. Even Sega managed to pull this off with Golden Axe. P.S. They also managed to make Street Fighter 1 even worse than the arcade and TG-16. It was released at the same time and had graphics that made Double Dragon on the NES look like Street Fighter Alpha 3 in the arcades.

WTF, PC speaker was NOT standard sound for DOS games in 1990, the Adlib/Soundblaster standard was long established by then... For a 1986 DOS game yeah, but even by '87 a large portion of games supported Adlib/SB.

I actually own the original of this game; actually the third game I ever owned for a PC. It looks bad here, but believe me...it plays even worse. I think the controls were specifically designed to make players cry. The sequel, Mega Man 3 (yes, Mega Man "3", no relation to the real one for NES) is better, but only in the way getting punched is slightly better than being kicked.

Heh, yeah, I liked it as a kid because, hey, it was Megaman and I didn't know any better. I remember hating the keyboard layout even then though. "J" to jump? What were they thinking. Luckily I was playing this with a game controller in DOS Box, totally different experience.

And really? I think MM3 PC is way worse. All the stages are gigantic mazes, it seems even less Mega Man-like to me...

I was thinking more control-wise...the 3rd one just has tighter controls (and I do like the unrealistic swimming for some reason), as crappy as they still are. The only real props I have for this one is the original bosses, whereas in 3 they recycled old bosses with new names and weaponry. And I still have it out for the disappearing block portion of Voltman's stage...that part is so ridiculously stupid it defies explanation.

Yup, I was.

That's an odd problem, and I'm not sure what might be causing it. I know it overrides certain function keys, which sucks, and crashes when I try to alt-tab out of full screen, but I've never heard of your problem before. You should try asking on the DOSBox forum.
