They seem to be implying that Gabby's awkwardness is because she's MTF, but she's been shown to be a geek, and the sort of behavior she shows I have witnessed often in Japanese anime fans. :/ But let's scapegoat it with the fact she was born a man.

No, transgender and transexual refers to your gender and sex (boy or girl, male or female, body parts, appearance, etc), sexuality refers to the sex/gender of the people you are attracted to (gay straight or bisexual).
The political movements and organizations often combine, because while the struggles are different, both groups are fighting hatred based on immutable (either unchangeable or shouldn't try to change) physical attributes. The trans group is relatively small, it's useful for them sometimes to combine energy with the gay movements and orgs, because they are often larger and have been around longer.
Gabbie isn't touchy feely because she's MTF, she's like that because she grew up as an anime kid. It's obvious that that's the reason, you can even tell it in the way she holds her head and how she walks. Most people get over it in middle school but some can hold onto it for a long time..
I don't really see how Gabbie being touchy-feely must be because she's MTF. I can see how it might be related, but it could easily be just an "awkward kid" type of thing. Awkwardness can easily and often happens without transgender-ness entering the picture. (And I say "awkward" with affection, it's not an insult.)
I wish I could just get it through her head that see is a WOMAN. She keeps feeling like she had to tell ppl she was born a man, no one can reasonable guess she was born male. I would think she was a foreign female. That's no one else business unless they are in a physically intimate relationship with her!
