  • Much respect to the late Kurt Landrum, the voice on this track. Miss you Kurt!

  • @supersonicman96 Actually the voice on this track is Joe Smooth.

  • @housemanchi --wow I know Joe and all these years I never knew this was him-wow--thankx for the info!

  • How many ultra-raunchy house and electro-funk tunes were made in the 80s with the deadly combination of the Juno 6 and 808 ? Insane.

  • Wow, this came out in 85? That's some seriously old-skool house music right there. I remember hearing this song in the late 80's when I first got into House, but I didn't realize it was already 3 years old...

  • Your right the begging of the beat came from New Order(Blue Monday)1984 but New Order took this beat from Kraftwerk(Radio Activity)1975 same begging but slowed down.Kraftwerk formed in 1970 to me are the GODFATHER of Techno and sonic beats.Look what came from underneath there belt remember the truth shall set you free :)

  • #OMG :)

  • time to jack jack jackjack...on speakers xD

  • kraftwerk are the godfathers, the creators, the pioneers of this beat everything else is imitation. the truth will out eventually... its simply a matter of time.

but don't take my word 4 it. youtube;kraftwerkhomecomputerparis1981... and make your own mind up.

  • Im jacking my speaker right now woow!

  • 1985: amazing! years ahead...

  • wow its all about that bassline lol

  • @acedaface954 I agree! The bassline and the stutter T T T Time to Jack. That stutter drove househeads crazy.

  • @Kiri527 man i wish i could've been there.

  • Is this 85?

  • CHITOWN SOUTHSIDE ENGLEWOOD HS. THE COURTYARD DAYS..

  • the best ever

  • the legendary Roland TR-808. do a search on it on here!

  • Argh, it's way too expensive :/

Do you know anyone who sells a 707?

  • @plainlazy2097 There is a female vocal version of this, don't know if many remember it. Is it on here or does any1 have it?

  • @mimric That is the remix your thinking off, it was recorded in my buddy's studio in villa pk,IL. they sampled his dog barking and used it on the track! It was released on the underground record label.

  • @lNOOBlHippie Roland TR-303 bass though, no?

  • @lNOOBlHippie roland 909 drum machine...

  • GUYS HELP MEEEE

im lokking for a well known house song with a very well known piano part in the middle. the song came out in the 80`s.

    PLEASE HELP ME

  • Erm.... my friend.. there HUNDREDS of House tunes from the 80s with a piano in them.

Give me something else to go on & message me & I'll see if I can help u.

  • i already found the song. its children from dave darell

    but thx

  • Whooooah there matey ! You said 80s !!!!

    That's more like 2008 !

And the original Robert Miles trak came out in Jan 1996.

  • With the attitudes of some younsters here on YouTube towards House Music, you wouldn't have made it in Chicago's clubs, you'd had got the brakes beat off you! House Heads Unite, Etienne

  • @martinique110 Actually, I am very warmed by a lot of comments from youngsters who are discovering the origins of House music & listening to the stuff for the first time, through YouTube & all.

Once u hav House in your soul, u hav it forever.

  • Is it "Strings of Life" by Rhythm is Rhythm? That (to me) seems to be one of the essential piano/house tracks.

  • no sry. but i already found it. it is a remix. the song is from dave darell and its called children.

  • D J ron hardy would play this and you better be ready to work jacking all night music box forever

  • Ahh Yeah!! Chicago South Side!!! Where you at?!!!

  • what does jack mean?

    could someone explain.

    House music is the best.

  • I think it's basically humping anything like other people, speakers, walls, etc. Soulja boy of the Muzic Box in Chicago back in the day.

  • never ever compare/mention soulja boy in a sentence with the Muzic Box again or you will spontaneously combust!

  • I dunno why u got some thumbs down for your comment kkr203. U are absolutely right. Watch "History of House Music" here & that is exactly what "jacking" origianlly was.

  • It's hard to explain, but I'll try. "Jack" is a term used at that time to describe house dance moves that in combination with the repetative beats and lyrics of house, would cause a euphoric feeling that would make you want to dance your #$%!@ off. It was clean--- meaning that was a pure thing...NOthing vile about it. dance to this

  • No doubt ! House music is the best!

If you like House, and you like to move, you've jacked!

It's a specific dance move. But don't worry bout the specifics, it's fundamentally about freaking out to that 4/4.

  • it was a style of Dance that you just let loose and let yourself go.

  • to me house music, really took shape when it was created not recycled. like jaime principle and frankie knuckles recorded your love. to me that was the start of house music as a documentary said, the year zero in house music, artists are true gods of house, like chip e, farley jackmaster funk, steve silk hurley, dj pierre, those guys are gods. they created the music. ron hardy played the music, no doubt a big boost, but non cant touch larry levan. he is the true god father of house music

  • Ron Hardy died of Aids, I know he had a mad drug problem back in the day. I cant say if he caught aids by his drug use or his life style. Regardless his legacy lives on, straight, gay doesnt matter his music brought people together. Ron Hardy is a House Music God.

  • Farley is the only DJ to call himself the Godfather so as far as I am concerned it's his title for for my money the best DJ was Ron Hardy. Other DJ's would be DJing and people would still yell out Ronnies name. Ron Hardy was the peoples choice but what made house good back in the day was artist werent going around screaming i'm this and i'm that, they let the music speak for them. That my friends is REAL house. Chi-town stand up!!!!!!

  • well said, i agree Ron Haardy is the true God Father. shame that the drugs got the better of him!

  • @plainlazy2097 NO, Dj Godfather is the godfather. Dumb asses.

  • @youboobzer Vito Corleone is actually the Godfather

  • @28thStonyisland i think they should do a documentary on just ron hardy that would be interesting

  • @houseofjrk

documentary about house music and jack exist... i watch doc on google videos.. great movie

  • TIME TO JACK!!

Im 14 and when i talk about the jacking the kids all get lost!

    Great upload!

  • lawl my young padawon that is the spirit of the old school u must teach ur fellow peers the way of teh jack

  • So great to hear u young folk feelin & luvvin this stuff. xx

  • @thecalmmusicalspirit kid you are way beyond your years. good for you.

  • Class upload... 5* ) P Oldscool Fool

  • To all the ol skool true HOUSE HEADS,..make sure you don't miss the "Chosen Few Annual House reunion picnic" in Chicago 2009 July 4th weekend at 63rd and Hayes (near the lake)...last summer, it was 8,000 people...this year, over 15,000 are expected! Get there early around 8am, set up your tent, bring your grill and your drank...and get ready to be HOUSED!......(

  • it was off the chain last summer!!!!!!!!!

  • damn this is a special record...really amazing

  • Wasn't it bobby q spining on kkc

  • GO McMENTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FARLEY,FARLEY,FARLEY,FARLEY,

  • This takes me back to the house parties, around 53rd and hermitage. cottage folks were jackin it up.

  • I definately agree that BMX was the shit...But hold up KKC used to put it down to if you were close enough to pick it up..Plus alot of the time it was uncensored...Now thats real

  • Look all this may be true..Now I used to go to the marathons at the box back in 85-86,Ron Hardy is the man..I am not confused my favorites are Ron hardy,Farley,Steve hurley, and Frankie Knuckles...In that order..I will say I have been to clubs all over the U.S. The box is my favorite followed by the Sound Factory in New York..And I am a straight male just love HOUSE MUSIC

  • No disrepect to the gay community, but I tell ppl i love house, they straight think i'm gay

  • I know!

People are like "where's your pacifier?"

    Ignant fools!

    no disrespect to the family

  • "party Hardy"

  • keep it real Farley was the Godfather

  • Farley was NOT the Godfather. Farley stole just about everyone's music and ideas. Farley was very important with spreading House on WBMX with the rest of the Hot Mix 5. There's been dispute over who is the "Godfather", but the 3 in consideration for me would be Ron Hardy, Chip E and Jamie Principle. Jamie being the 1st to ever make a House track w/ Your Love.

  • lol that is possible and he labeled every mix Farley Farley... etc. Farley

  • Daaaammmn...I remember back in the day music box, warehouse, aka's,this shit here made people for real jack...Anybody remember the parties at Mendel Highschool? Chicago most famous for its ribs, women, house music and of course all is one our Gangstas!!!!!!!

  • if you have been to these clubs, then you know Tweey is the best dancer. I dance near the front of the warehouse. and yes,one of the best dressed

  • Takes me back....man I wish I had my 1200s!

  • This song makes me just wanna groove!

    <3 house. :)

  • damn ya'll are lucky to grow up in chicago and detroit!!! miami was boring as hell back in the days for me, we play bass but aren't nearly as ecclectic and open minded as ya'll!!

  • thank you, thank you! You should come to party over here! Trust me we still go crazy when we hear this at a club!!

    Peace n House PPL.

  • I'm from Chicago and grew up in the 80's Jackin, but don't shit on Miami. We in Chicago were jackin to Miami artists like Freestyle who did Don't Stop The Rock and "It's Automatic" and Debbie Deb "When I Hear Music". You guys had some good shit too.

  • Summer, 1985 Jr, High, Chi _`burbs. I'm on my boy Malik's porch at 11 dark 30. He has his box and we are listening to the Friday Night DanceParty on WBMX! This track was always in the mix! Thanks for the memories.

  • Only people from Chicago know about it. WBMX was the baddest fuckin radio station that ever existed. We were glued to the box on Friday and Saturday for the Friday Night Jamz and Saturday Night Live Ain't No Jive Dance Party. Blew up house with the force of the Atomic Bomb. Much Respect to the Hot Mix 5.

  • remember the six turn tables?

  • I moved to Atlanta years ago. Are you guys still throwing old school house parties in Chi-town? I'd love to come to town for one?

  • damn! this make me think of like 9 years old. and i was jackin then too, chi-town!

  • you guys are missing the point entirely.

Now everybody find a body and jack damn it :P

  • 3rd line down on the credits part of this album is my brother, "MICHAEL WILSON" the sounds of Chicago. Look closely you can see it. Luv u Mike..... They squandered my brother, put a black label on it and played/sold in the UK. He didnt make a dime off this or "its house, like this & time to jack". Graduated w/Chip E, from Kenwood in Chi 84', He aint all that.

  • i didnt know that but i guess not alot of people would. if thats the case then thats well harsh! what was your brothers role in the production of this EP, did he actually write some of the material?

  • Not sure what all his role entailed. I do know that he pd for the recording studio and other financially related recording fees.

  • search for history of house on youtube and watch all the vids... they talk about this record on it!

  • i thought Farley was the God Father?

  • So was Chip E in many peoples' minds.

  • cool

  • Farly stole everyone's musicand ideas. Shit he even stole the name "Jackmaster" from Steve Silk Hurley. Steve told him that he was going to chane his name to "Jackmaster Silk". Calling Farley the Godfather of House is like calling Judas the messiah.
