I had my first real drink in the Keystone! There was a guy who used to go in there who dressed and looked almost exactly like Rod Stewart. What a to**er!
Weaste had some thriving pubs until those faceless wonders from the town hall wrecked the community. What have we now? A haven for dick heads. R I P Weaste.
The crescent is still with us !!! tap in the crescent salford and watch the video ,absolutely tremendous,a great example of how a great pub can survive .Get in there for some liquid action

Great photo's remember walking down lower Broughton road when it was like that buzzing with people seems like a life time ago now. Been in a lot of them pubs but my local was the Racecourse from the early seventies till it went shit remeber going in the Castle the first night it opened hated the beer Greenhalls....UGH
How many of these lovely old Historic Salford pubs have been demolished due to Town hall planners. Do you see any improvements that they have supposedley made? How they Fuck around with peoples lives and home environments.....FUCKING BUNCH OF TOSSERS!

Nice Video. Thanks. But where's The Duchy and The Maypole? My grandmother worked in both of those fine Pendleton pubs for many years. It's a real shame the way the place is now.
Super pics, most now history. A few I wish you could have included, loved to have seen the Racecourse and the Castle, But hell, what a super slide show. Been in most of them, hic, hail the Barbary Coast, where has it gone?
Nice slide show, wish some of the pubs i grew up in were there though, 'The Champion' and 'The Langworthy hotel' both near salford precinct.Those were happy days.

Didn't realise how many there were! Just think of all those boozy nights! FABULOUS! I'm an Irlam o'th Heights girl myself, but I did do the odd Cross Lane night. Stag nights consisted of a half in the first pub, double it in the second, double that in third, etc, NOBODY finished the challenge!
nice post recognise most pubs had my first pint in the gas tavern regent road 1976 (hot summer) landlord roy landlady lil as you walked in you was in the vault, pooltable jukebox.
Its the people of Salford who have ruined the place, not the councils, and I live here.
