  • Let me get this straight... Citizens can't have guns but everyones bodyguard in DC carries one? And that's somehow right, just and fair? Double standard maybe?

  • your stupid!!!!! 1 and 3 are the same thing!!!!

  • 28 people are communist.

  • THIS IS F&%KING CRAZY!!! THEY ARE PUSHING THE AGENDA!

  • Anyone who wants guns banned had a bad experiance with them or is just ignorant. Like charlton heston said "they dont know a semi auto from a sharp stick"

  • Why don't these guys just say the 2nd amendment? Its crystal clear.

Doesn't matter what the Gov ,supreme court says.

  • making a law against guns won't stop criminals fro getting guns. criminals don't care about a law against guns, they'll break the law. they're criminals, it's their job to break the law

  • theres an old latin proverb that roughly translates as " when catapults are outlawed, only outlaws will have catapults"

the way i see it, and correct me if im wrong, but wouldn't a criminal hesitate before muggins some old lady. if that old lady might be packin heat?

guns for all or guns for none, and seeing as guns for none is impossible, guns for all seems our only option =D

  • VICTORY finally it took the supreme court to show liberal pinheads IDIOTS self protection is right like free speech

SHOWS YOU HOW STUPID LIBERAL ARE AND THEIR OVER ALL MENTALITY

why does America keep voting democrats in office HHHMMMM

    Obamaitis: The latest liberal disease.

  • Chief Justice Roberts is being forced out off the supreme court, black mail?

conspiracy for sure, spread the word

    or else

Say good bye to the USA and say hello

    to AMERIKA

  • Heritage holler at your boy.

Love you guys, thanks so much.

  • The gov. needs to realize everyone will carry anyways. And cops should get there heads out of ther asses and not enforce these laws.

  • All gun bans should be met with civil disobedience. These laws are null and void under the Constitution, thus it is our civic duty to not only protest against the induction of these laws but also to refuse to obey them when they pass.

  • duh

  • Why do they need a complete outlawing of guns?

TO CONTROL PEOPLE AND NOT LETTING THEM THE SLIGHTEST CHANCE TO REVOLT, FOR EXAMPLE WHEN PRIVATE PROPERTY WILL BE ABOLISHED!

How will they be able to ban all firearms?

THEY NEED PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING AND EVEN DEMANDING IT, THEY NEED A GOOD EXCUSE!

What would be the single best excuse for it by far? You don't konw? C'mon ..

THE ASSASSINATION OF OUR BELOVED PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA BY WHITE, SUPREMACIST RACISTS !

Who would not accept such an excuse?

  • I would not accept such an excuse.

Who likes Obama that much anyway? As if white supremacists with plans to kill Obama follow gun control laws anyway.

  • What scares me is how many people are begging and demanding that their rights be taken away.

  • I know right.

  • thank you for clarification.

America was deceived, he is not my president

  • As an atheist, hispanic, asian, 23 year old male living in the US of A, I am glad I still have the right, and every law abiding citizen around me, still has the right to bear arms. The best defense against tyranny is a well armed populace.

  • + fuc*ing 1 dude

  • thank god our guns are free at last! dosent mean that we should stop protecting our first freedom (the 2sd amendment)

  • I noticed that the majority of comments here center on calling other people names. I would suggest that most of you read a book titled "The dark side of Man" written by Michael P. Ghiglieri - published in 1999 by Perseus books. I think it would clear up some misconceptions held about mankind & what makes violence seem so easy for him. The mind is the weapon - Everything else is a tool. Look at England and any other country that has banned guns - did it stop the killing - no - read why.

  • the day some government personel come to my home to take my righteously owned guns will be the day I hand them over bullet heads first and as part of a message to all people who own guns (the militias) that we must prepare to resist tyranny.

  • Listen very closely people. Once we lose our firearms we will lose our freedoms and can be controled like people are in China, Russia, Cuba and all other fascist states. A COUNTRY THAT DISARMS IT'S CITIZENS IS A COUNTRY NOT WORTH LIVING IN. There is no questioning the 2nd ammendment.

  • like i said

    living ina world ryte now

i guess we have to need/have firearms

I PROMISE YOU THIS "HATERS OF YOUTUBE!"

BY THE TIME FUCKN PPL WALKING UP AND DOWN "MY" STREETS OF "MY" HOMETOWN INFRONT OF MY HOUSE WITH THER GUN AT FULL ""A-TEN-HUT"

IMA HAV TO SLAP A "HO" Bleave dat "HOMESLICE"

  • If the goverment ever wanted to take my guns.

They would have to come get them. After they make it past my wall of lead. I have plenty of ammunition.

The goverment is to big and to important to leave in the hands of politicians.

  • buy more ammo man guns are going to get banned and martial law will be dropped next thing you know we are all getting invaded by foreign troops buy more ammo before it is too late

  • GUNS should be banned so that the WORLD would and SHOULD be RUN by HUMANS

only FAG WEAK SCARED ASS PUSSIES USE GUNS

GUN PEOPLE; try using your fist, I bet you get KNOCKED THE P"HOC OUT

  • I think 94w whatever may be a caveman. I bet you are a 12 year old english punk... or a pussy ass hippie.

  • nah im a whit polynesian from the 808 state

wer im from The Fist is a Deadly Weapon

im not a hippie, but i smoke weed like a hippie

  • but if you use your fist and a guy or his buddy has gun that your not aware of then your going to be in the newspapers

this is 2008 people dont have rules in the streets

  • this one of the dumbest comments ive heard dude what are 14 or something you must have never been in the streets jail or nothing your just running your mouth

  • But if i did not have a gun My wife and child would be dead, I came home one night last summer and someone was in my house. need i say more.

  • shut the fuck up you idiot you know nothing if guns are banned we are all fucked the second amendment states that if the government is not representing its citizens to its full potential we have the right to form a militia and over throw the government once guns are banned and the martial law is dropped you will see what i mean do research BE INFORMED PLEASE DO RESEARCH ITS HAPPENING IT IS REAL ITS GOING DOWN

  • @94WAIPAHUblocc

My gun is not to kill people, it's to defend myself...

    your a dumbass

  • If banning guns would stop crime and violence. Then we will also have to ban kitchen knives & pointed sticks

  • you can see how well gun bans work. look at chicago. its a county wide "free gun zone". It gaurantees your victim is helpless. All criminals have a free hands there, because they cant get shot except by the police, and we know they are everywhere right? You could do what the Bradys say, give them what they want, like your wife to rape. OH! and your daughter too. I hope he doesnt kill them while he's at it. And make him some coffee so he can keep his energy up to hit then next house. Thank him!

  • Brady came up with a grading system for different states, giving better grades for more gun control. Ironically enough, the states with the absolute lowest grades have the lowest crime rates, and the states with the highest grades have the highest crime rates - is there a connection here? To me it is just bizarre we hear so much about gun bans in the name of safety. There's no way someone can prove taking guns away from ordinary people stops crime dead in it's tracks.

  • Exactly, thus the UK gun ban shows us how well it works. I went onto a british site about some coat that came with a swiss army knife and the owners of the store were nearly attacked because of the thoughtless endangerment of society!

... WHAT?! Its a 2" knife! But then again knife crime is absolutely rampant there.

Simple. Its the PEOPLE that are criminals, not some chunk of lifeless metal, be it knife or gun.

  • I heard in Britain and Australia they also banned any knife with a sharp point. Because if we ban all knifes that can be used for stabbing no one will ever be able to stab someone right? In prison people make knifes out of bed springs and toilet paper, and they're very effective stabbing weapons. It's the one thing about Liberals that really pisses me off, the answer to the world's problems is always another law. But on the other hand conservatives have (ugh) Anne Coulter to be ashamed of.

  • I think we need more gun rights. The right to keep and bear arms is a right not only that protects us from criminals but it also protects us from the government. i think that all FIREARM bans should be lifted. it is completely legal to own an assault rife in some states you just have to pay the government to get a "pass", and pay allot of money for the firearm<-stupid......

if i want a 50 cal rifle or a SAW its no ones business but my own. people think were free we arnt free.

  • "Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

    -Thomas Jefferson

  • you know you just need to sat one or 2 words "2 amendment" because what he is talking about is the extended words of the consitution

  • George Mason:"To disarm the people (is) the best and most effectual way to enslave them."

  • I go to George Mason University and they will not let citizens with concealed carry permits carry on campus.

    It is ludicrous.

  • Thomas Jefferson: "And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. ... The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

  • It's more like, the government has become unconstitutional!... the right to bare arms will FOREVER stay constitutional!!! - No matter WHAT crappy bill or bogus law comes about to the contrary.

  • ejb812 -

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

    -Thomas Jefferson

Right On!... and why the heck is ejb812's comment marked as spam!?

    It shouldn't be.

  • Just the other day I had a vocal Obama supporter tell me that guns should be banned because of situations like Katrina, because the government wasnt there to protect people. I quickly pointed out that that is the exact reason we have guns is because the govt. more times than not is incapable of protecting its citizens. It bothers me when ppl are Democrats and think that means that they cant support the 2nd amendment. Both McCain and Obama are not fit for leading our country. Write it RON PAUL.

  • Exactly, but with all the chaotic mind control/blackops & reverse psychological warfare, chemical lobotomies/fluoride & pharmaceuticals in the water, etc., it becomes easier to see how ppl are so duped by misinformation, and buy such B.S.

But,I think that I'd much rather have a gun for protection/self defense in my hand, than a jar of vaseline, like some ppl seem content in doing. - U are TOTALLY right, about the Katrina incident; all the more reason for us to NOT give up our guns!

  • Hey yall if guns kill people then:

    pencils cause peepul to misspel

cars cause people to drive drunk

    spoons made Rosie O'Donald fat

  • GREAT SAYING (sorry if i replyed to you and your comment is old) BUT EXPLENATION MAN!

  • A gun is an inanimate object. It has no feelings, a life, nor a conscience(cant spell). Before the gun there was the knife. Before the knife there was the rock. Everything has the potential to be a weapon. If you are going to ban guns then ban everything that is either sharp or blunt. People will continue to kill people. Its just the tool that will change. The ones that want this ban are ppl that thnk evry prson is a decent individual. The truth is we are not.

  • Why would anyone want a gun ban in DC? More opportunities for target practice on certain people...

  • A-MEN!! y760nitro.

  • if we made guns illegal why the hell do you think criminals, who break laws, wouldn't break that one? like o yeah they'll rob banks and murder people but O god no they could never go against our gun law! *gasp*

  • the goal is 2 make it much, much harder for criminals to get guns - if they can't get guns, they can't use them. Its not a matter of whether or not they have the moral resolution to break the law. Also, guns are the number one cause of death for children. They mess around with them, thinking nothing wil happen, and they hurt themselvs accidentally. Finaly, England, among other countries, have banned guns, and it had only 36 homicide gun deaths last year. The US had 10,000 gun homicides last year

  • Damn, I leave YouTube for a week to get something done and you guys can't even handle these libtards? Who let so many of them in here! SHIT!

  • GUYS!! STOP ARGUING! They are liberals, you know better than to argue with them, the are worse than a wife! They already have their mind made up, don't confuse them with facts!

  • Feel strongly about your right to Open Carry?

Is your right to free speech ok as long as you cover your mouth?

Please sign the Florida Petition to Open Carry, go to flopencarry . com and join us at opencarry . org

You can also sign the Texas Petition to Open Carry at petitiononline . com / texasoc / petition . html

  • That's "you're" stupid. Contraction of "you are." (Spell check.)

  • What the fuck does that mean "EAR CROW LIBEAL PINHEADS" someone plz tell me cuz I got to write it down I might be one you know what they say if you don't know what something is you probably are it?

    EAR CROW LIBEAL PINHEADS

  • overall is not two words use spell check once in a while.

"why does America keep voting democrats in office?" Since when? Since the last two Bush terms? Aren't you republicans satisfied enough with two terms of a complete dumbass fuckin douchebag?

  • Can't compare Europe to America; good guys with guns do not kill people it's the criminals in the inner cities who kill their own kind (black on black, brown on brown, etc). White suburbanites do not commit these crimes... they have weapons to deter a random criminal act against them. If I own a gun, I'll probably never use it but I know that I can protect myself from some thug without a conscience. Europe doesn't have crime like the US does b/c it's homogenous.

  • Plus they don't have a large border with a fucked up country like Mexico. But Europe is becoming less homogeneous and their crime rate is on the rise and they are responding by restricting the rights of their good citizens. We should ask the ovine America bashers now whether they'll want us to step in when the shit hits the fan or just have us sit tight so they can show us how courageous and civilized they are.

  • if you going to ban guns do it country wide. Tho you have so much os it no point! In UK all we can do tackle it best we can and should never have guns! Tho USA had it for years and year why the change?

  • "That the subjects which are Protestants may have arms for their defence suitable to their conditions and as allowed by law;"

    UK Bill of Rights, 1689

  • Heres how DC will keep guns from citizens:

    Guns 380 99 bucks.

    Registration Required by city $1400!

See how many guns they will let out the door.

This was just an example, but expect some extortion fee of somesorts. Just remember what Uncle ScAM has told you "Freedumb is Not Free".

  • That would be infringement and clearly against the constitution.

  • Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my gun.

  • I agree with the sentiment. Coulda been better put together though in my opinion. Thumbs up though for reporting on our 2nd amendment liberties.

  • I know and why the hell do Republicans keep nominating liberals!

  • my favorite t-shirt has 2 check boxes. the one with the check in it says "gun owner". the other one says "victim."

  • venison, does the victims check box have a bullit hole in it?

I know when I am carjacked, I'd prefer to get out my psychology degree and try to talk the guy out of blowing my head off for a 26 hour free ride.

  • ;-)

I love how the unbiased data continues to show that more guns in the hands of law abiding citizens reduces violent crime and people STILL have this doomsday attitude about this.

  • To all you anti constitutional socialist liberals out there:

Neener, Neener and once again, NEENER! :-D

  • i heard a great quote the other day ... "snipe the left."

  • Good quote jbrazil! We should snipe the left.

  • LET FREEDOM RING!!

This is only the beginning liberals/carpetbaggers; only the beginning!

OUT OF MY COLD DEAD HANDS!

  • You sound just as douchebaggerdly as that fuckin' douchebag Charlton Heston. Fuckin' douchebag. Glad he's dead.

  • people have the right to bare arms its in the constitution

  • What about the right to arm bears?

  • Unconstitutional? But Obama said that it WAS Constitutional back in late 2007, so it must be.

But wait, he changed his mind today (now that the polls are in) and he agreed with the court. It WAS unconstitutional after all!

Thank God for the polls! We need polls so Obama will know what to do!

  • tidycat: you are a moron. do you even know what a glock 9 is? you throw it out there like it's some kind of high tech weapon. have you ever even handled a gun. get out and educate yourself in reality before you start running your mouth. and your argument is completely backwards. the fact that we have everything you listed is even MORE reason to allow law abiding citizens the right to defend themselves. fucking dumbass.

  • It's people like you who escalate the situation and cause more need for gun control. Your "eye for an eye" mentality makes the whole world blind.

  • tidycat, you continue to sound like a moron. this is not about "eye for an eye"; this is about SELF DEFENSE. "people like me" like the option of being able to defend ourselves. "people like YOU" are welcome to continue being an easy target.

  • Okay, I continue to sound like a moron. But you fucking gun-nut people are just douchebagging the country up to the verge of extinction. Oh and I HAVE shot a gun. My brother's a gun-nut (doesn't mean I have to THINK like him, does it?) We went on the firing range and shot his "GLOCK 9." Wasn't the adrenaline rush I was hoping for. Doesn't that sound like a douchebaggerdly phrase? Gun-nut? Doesn't that sound like something a douchebag would strive to be?

  • tidycat, yes, you DO continue to sound like a moron. This isn't about loving guns or being a gun nut. It's about self defense. Does EVERYthing need to be spoon fed and repeated to you before you get it?

What does you not getting an adrenaline rush from firing a gun have to do with the right to defend yourself?????

  • PS. "you fucking gun-nut people are just douchebagging the country up to the verge of extinction" and "What about the right to arm bears?"

Congratulations. With that mindset, you're on your way to becoming a fucking psycho activist if you aren't there already. You have absolutely NOTHING to back up your moronic statements. It's people like you that are running America into the ground.

  • And what have you brought to the table? All you've done is contradict everything I've said, and at the same time made yourself look like a GUN-NUT who sits in a dark room, armed to the teeth, waiting for someone to "give you a reason."

    Whoop-ee-fuck-in-doo.

  • " All you've done is contradict everything I've said." waaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Oh, sorry. Should I call you a WAHmbulance? Typical activist crybaby. Insult me and then cry when I don't agree with you.

You're evaluation of me is a perception you've applied to everyone who owns a gun. All you know about me is that I believe in self defense and that I know you are a dumbass. Your reaction to that knowledge makes you even more of a dumbass. The more you post, the bigger a dumbass you become.

  • What statements have YOU backed up, you gun-nut?

  • & by the way, WAHmbulance has been used, like, to death. You should get a newer phrase. Like "Beam me up Scotty, there's no intelligent life here."

  • tidycat. you are a dumbass. every post you make backs up that statement.

  • Congrats to the law abiding citizens of D.C. Now all you need is a competent mayor and police chief and you'll be good to go

  • IT PASSED!!!!!!!

  • I love guns, they are so yummy. Guns are why Americans are not wimps like the French. Guns will be the best tool to the individual in a major situation. Guns are the only weapon in which a woman can make her self equal or even superior to a man.

  • ban gun America will more freedom than b4

  • Isn't taking away a right reducing freedom? The law abiding people go through the steps, follow the laws, and practice responsible ownership. There's no reason to fear law abiding people with guns... unless you're a criminal.

  • You are a moron and I'm glad to point that out to you.

  • Sure, when some criminal pulls a gun on you and demands for you to pull down your pants because he is going ram it hard into you, then you will enjoy your freedom.

I love the people like you. Because once they are victim of a crime the first thing they do is to get a firearm. Being a helpless victim has this effect on every human. Sure you can learn a self defense discipline, but once you stared at the end of a barrel kung fu will be of little help.

In your case just carry a lubricant.

  • He is right.... the right to keep and bear arms does not come from the Constitution. It comes from God, it comes from the first breath that you take in this world, it comes from FREEDOM. Bears and Indians have been replaced by terrorists and muggers. Stop believing that the "Police" are going to save your ass everytime you get in trouble.... look what happened in Katrina .... when there are no cops arround, you don't need 911 you need 1911 .. the Good 'ol .45

  • so true

  • You are a gimp, the indians have been replaced by thugs and gang members bears have been replaced by murderers and rapist. Feel free to tape your mouth shut.

  • Horgyboy, the US has over 20,000 gun laws on the books at the federal state and local levels, included in these laws are strict punishments for the use of guns in crime. An armed robbery, for instance, where a gun is used is punished far more severely than the same crime committed with a knife. You use the term "Stupid americans" then, ironically go on to make a clear demonstration of your total ignorance on the subject. Good job dumbass.

  • search england gun ban update

  • You are a retard, gun control doesn't mean crime control or do you think criminals care about laws? Englands crime rate whent up 40 percent since they ban guns explain that eurotrash. Go to endland and feel free to et stabbed instead of shot what a big change in crime you blame the person not the instrument. Right to carry states in the U.S hav lower crime rates than gun free states explain that.

  • If guns kill people then I can blame my pen for misspelling my words! Gun control does not make sense.

  • pro guns.

    * Concealed carry laws have reduced murder and crime rates in the states that have enacted them. According to a comprehensive study which reviewed crime statistics in every county in the United States from 1977 to 1992, states which passed concealed carry laws reduced their rate of murder by 8.5%, rape by 5%, aggravated assault by 7% and robbery by 3%.4

  • Guns don't kill people. Democrats who ban guns do.

  • Guns are bad, mmkay. But banning them is not the solution. It's a terrible idea to ban pretty much anything, even guns.

  • guns arent good as all, don't you see, they're not bad either.... they're neutral, it depends on whos hands the gun is in. and when the law obiding citizens don't have guns, and criminals (drug dealers, gangbangers, burglers, muggers ect) have guns, and normal citizens don't, the criminals basicaly control the streets like a mini dictatorship.

  • The reason marxists oppose the 2nd amendment is because it is a defense against genocidal tyranical governments, defense of property rights and the right to live. In marxism. people have no rights to property or to live. also most democrats/marxists are criminals who support disarming their victims.

  • If gun control works why did DC have the highest homocide rate in the country after guns were banned? Why is it in every nation and city where guns are banned or restricted, crime goes up? No matter what the law says criminals will always get guns. Want a gun fast? Go down to the east side to where the black van is parked and the hood inside can get you one off the street.

  • You're exactly right. Gun control laws in this country have proven to be a huge failure. In areas with restrictive gun laws, crime goes up and so does violence.

  • I think the only way to objectively view this issue is in this Youtube video. It's only a few minutes long, if you're serious about this issue, on either side, you should watch it:

    youtube(dot)com/watch?v=3KANI2dpXLw

  • Youtube won't let me post URLs, so replace the space with a period:

    shortText com/vc75co

The first article was written by a UCLA Law Prof who gives dozens of examples of how the 'basic grammar' means exactly what I've said it means, context nonwithstanding.

The second is an NRO article which quotes experts on grammar and usage (even pro-gun control experts) who also confirm that the main clause is not conditional on the 'militia' clause. I'll go with the experts on this one.

  • Also, even if your interpretation were correct, the condition isn't met by the National Guard. We view the National Guard, right now, as being the replacemnt of the militia (this has been codified into law). That doesn't mean that someday, with a congressional vote and presidential stamp of approval, that there will be well regulated state militias, and we don't know who would serve in those militias. So even if it were conditional, the condition can only be met by "the people".

  • This is -really- getting off topic, but as a Socialist, I'm absoultely FINE with our nation having a high GDP. I'm all about society as a whole prospering after all. The real problem I see is inheritance. You claim that in a "free" market that one's end prosperity is a product of their own determination. Yet with the VAST differences in inheritnace, the two extremes of the cycle of poverty and mass-inheritance, it's simply not the case.

    -continued-

  • A socailist is one who believes "All men" truly ARE equal, and should be given equal rights. As in the modern world, money is power, we believe in giving everyone an equal STARTOFF point. From there, success or failure is up to them.

I would agree with you that the idea of equal wages for all, as has been the case in some "communist" nations is indeed absurd. It fails to reward those who work hardest. Where we disagree is that I accuse inheritance of doing the same thing.

  • I really wonder how many people will have to be killed that guns will finally be more controlled. its stupid to say "gun ban is unconstitutional". 200 years ago or whenever they made those rules people still believed in witches. whats the big deal? just change the law, the world wont end. but something must be wrong with americans. I live in central europe and I havent heard of people going on a shooting spree in spar. maybe we are too busy with drinking wine and eating strudel.

  • yep just change the law...you think it will help? If someone was going to murder someone the wouldn't say "oh man they're illegal!" no they'd just go buy one off of the streets. outlawing guns gives all of the guns to outlaws. We need them for our own defense and if we turned them over during a ban that would mean that we are law abiding citizens and that we wouldn't do anything wrong with them anyway.

  • its also unconstitutional to go to war without the consent of congress, I guess that doesn't matter though.

  • Joint Resolution to Authorize the Use of United States Armed Forces Against Iraq:

SEC. 3. AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES.

    (a) AUTHORIZATION. The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in order to

    (1) defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq; and

    (2) enforce all relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions regarding Iraq.

  • 1) There was never an ongoing threat to the US posed by Iraq

    2) We'll ignore enforcing the resolutions against Isreal shall we ? despite there being > 14 to Iraqs 8 at the time.

The senate was lied to and evidence was falsified. This authorisation should never have been given.

  • You clearly don't understand how U.N. resolutions work if you feel the comparison of resolutions aimed towards Israel are equal to the ones aimed towards Iraq. Look up the difference between resolutions passed under Chapter 6 (all Israel resolutions) and Chapter 7 (Iraq resolutions). It's like saying that someone should not be convicted of murder because someone else wasn't convicted of jaywalking. Iraq violated the resolutions by not cooperating, threat nonwithstanding.

  • I don't know if anyone checked the link with my response, but the short of it is:

    1) You're wrong in your intepretation of the grammar. The first clause is one reason, followed by a completely independent clause.

    2) The overall document context (which you completely ignore) clearly doesn't define "the people" as being "the militia".

    3) I don't need to add anything to the sentence ("If one is to be... they must...") to have the sentence mean what I've said it means.

  • DC gun ban is unconstitutional.

Nationwide gun ban may be in our future.

3-31-08 Bush to expand Federal Reserve Bank's power.

    Bad, bad, bad!

Bush to extend the power of the Federal Reserve Bank.

    By Michael Meurer

Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan's Feb. 25 testimony to the House Budget Committee provided an unintentionally candid look at the Bush administration's deliberate fiscal policy of bankrupting the federal government to justify a sweeping program of privatization...

  • Give us our guns back! This is UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!

  • Alright, go to the AOK corral. ^^

  • So, the final argument here (#3) is basically that the ban is unconstitutional because it is unconstitutional? Nice. I guess if you talk down to enough people they might believe it?

  • well, the right to bear arms was intended so that the gov wouldn't contain too much power so there was power to people so when they say unconstitutional, i believe its like taking power from us

  • it is such blind faith in an antiquated constitution that has americans living in such a violent society. The right to carry a gun is nonsense, it was espoused by men who did not have the foresight to see what damage it could do to a future society. it is time for americans to realise that, despite the incredible job they did, their founding fathers were not infalable. The reason i care is because america exports its culture throughout the globe.

  • The right to carry a firearm goes hand in hand with the right to self defense and that IS NOT nonsense. Our founding fathers knew exactly what they were doing when created our nation's most sacred document all those years ago, to insure that there was no such thing as an omnipotent authority that can do whatever it wished to the people with no checks on its' power.

  • the US is fast approaching a totalitarian state with omnipotent government and unfortunately with the uneducated consent of the people (a majority, not all) - in the meantime thousands of people are killed by people who legally carry guns. Are you scared when you walk down the street at night? I'm not.

  • Look billy, everyone who carries a gun legally in this country knows they can't just point and shoot at every person that pisses them off, that's illegal. No, people who carry legally aren't trigger happy gunmen just looking for a fight, if that's what you're implying. Most of those deaths by those licensed to carry were in self defense or accidents, not malicious intent. As a matter of fact, I feel perfectly fine walking anywhere.

  • As for your comments directed about my nations' present state, NEWS FLASH-these last 8yrs weren't the first hard times during Americas' existence. We've had plenty of dark moments through out our nations' history and still the country has persevered and righted itself when it needed to, so don't give me this totalitarian state bull. No U.S. President can stay in office forever.

  • "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Seems clear as day to me. The 2nd Amendment IS an individual right just like the other ten that's already there. In no way am I going to believe that those in a States' militia are the only ones allowed to access firearms.

  • Protect our 2nd ammendment rights it's the patriotic thing to do! I know patriotism is a foreign concept to these right wing traitors and domestic terrorists. Don't think we've forgotten about the Oklahoma city bombing and the coutless clinics in the 80's and 90's traitors!terrorists!

  • I'm a LEFTIST myself... I'm just surprised at all the idiots who can't actually READ the Second Ammendment. It states VERY clearly that the purpose of ownership of guns was for the MILITIA. In modern America this is the National Guard. Please, show me where it says ANYTHING about civilian ownership. I'd really like to see that part. ^^

  • My position happens to be pro gun ownership because I want the option of killing these right wing republitards at will or if confronted by them in the future. You do see the logic in that. However, I concede and agree that national healthcare is the ONLY option because everything else the republitards have tried has been a MASSIVE FAILURE! It doesn't make sense to have different programs because of the cost. And besides the corporate welfare state has yet to EVER reduce the costs of services.

  • Heh, well, I can't say I really disagree with anything there when you put it that way. xD

  • given the number of foreigners coming to the US for health care, Id say socialized medicine is a failure. Australia has tprobably the best system. Basic govt coverage with private supplemental insurance

  • The illegal Mexican immigrants are coming here mostly for employment opportunities, not the healthcare system.

  • i am talking about candians and europeans..the cleveland clinic is the #1 hip replecement center for canadians

  • it does say the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. So it does appear to be an individual right. However, since the right to keep and bear say machine guns is not allowed nor are nuclear bombs or b-52s, it is clear that govt can ban certain types of guns, just not all guns. Also if we stayed with original intent as conservatives like to do, only muskeets and pikes can be allowed and everything else banned

  • Haha! I suppose THOSE can stay legal. xD

  • ok, smarty pants...

Would you agree that the word "people" in the US Bill of Rights and the Constitution refers to the citizens of the States? I.E. "Well the People ..."

    2nd Amendment:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

See the word People in there. Guess what that's you, a citizen.

  • LOL! This is just basic grammar. The first phrase is clearly a conditional one. Thus, what is stated later hinges upon whether or not this condition is met. Basically it is saying, "If one is to be part of this well-regulated militia, they must be allowed to keep and bear arms." In more modern language.

  • Not much room, to view my response make the following a normal URL by replacing the space with a period -

    shortText com/93jupe

ShortText is a pretty nifty online tool.

  • "The people" are referred to five times in the Bill of Rights and once in the preamble, do you believe that all of them refer to the militia? It seems more likely to me that the militia reference is an example of necessity, but the right remains with "the people". Of course you can prove me wrong by providing an example where "the people" refers to the militia elsewhere in the Constitution.

  • Grammar again. In THE SECOND AMMENDMENT, "the people" is a logical subset of the militia. In other contexts it is not set up in this logical manner. Sorry...

  • As my example shows, even ignoring the context, the grammar shows no conditional phrase. You had to add that yourself. The context is just icing on the cake.

  • Amazing how conservatives want to protect our right to own a gun but where were they when the patriot act was signed? Only 1 or 2 true conservatives spoke out against it knowing that it was unpatriotic. Gotta love the right wing they're all kinds of fucked up aren't they? TRAITORS!WHERE WERE YOU VERMIN!

  • courtneywbradley:

"The nation of japan has the population of a large American city, not a good comparison. Japan also is a protectorate of the U.S. and militias are not nessesary."

Um, where to start? Japan has a population of 128 million people (16 times the size the most populous city in the US, New York City) and regained it's status as a sovereign nation in 1952. It ranks 6th in the world in military expenditures.

  • I should clarify my position. I'm all for nationalizing health care in the US and there are many things that these smaller countries do right that the US could do which would make healthcare better in the US. I thought Sicko was well done with the exception of certain comparisons. I just think that the comparison of countries like Sweden (who's population is about the size of North Carolina and has the ethnic diversity of Utah) to the US is patently absurd.

  • very few countries have a purely nationalized health system. UK doesnt, Australia doesnt, Germany Doesnt, Sweden doesnt. Even the proponents of national health care are woefully ignorant of other countries health systems

  • Did you know that France has a nationalized healthcare system and they pay no more that 24% in a vat tax. The average tax in the us is 36% and what do we have to show for it? but a war with no end in sight, a 10 trillion dollar deficit and a health insurance disaster on the horizon. We have tried it your way and it is a MASSIVE FAILURE. Everyone knows that corporations are in collusion with each other and that's why the prices keep going up. Managed competition is a complete and utter FAILURE!

  • The people LIKE the status quo in France. You claim it is "horrible", but really the total payments including those in taxes are LOWER than what they would be if everyone paid individually... Buying in bulk (aka nationally) means lower prices per unit. It's a simple fact of economics.

  • that is a horrible comparison. France pays 24%VAT plus income taxes. In the US our equivalent of a VAT would be less than 10%

  • The corporate welfare state created under the republicans is a MASSIVE FAILURE. The promises of managed competition lowering the prices of goods and services has been completely elusive due to corporate collusion on pricing. If you have a different opinion I'd like to hear it. If you can name one company that has been able to lower prices in the last 10 yrs due to the disney magic of managed competition to lower prices then please site the company and an example. Thanks I'll be...waiting.

  • bleunt: You're comparing a country of 9 million people to a country of more than 300 million people. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing what would happen to Sweden's "lower kills by firearms" if Sweden ever allowed any type of diversity within it's borders. Of course, since Sweden practiced Eugenics until 1976 (sterilizing non-whites essentially) that's not likely to happen any time soon:
