ok i have a 1990 ford f150 custom, with an inline 6 300, m5od transmission, 8ft bed, 2wd and 3.06 gears, i cant find anyone else that has my set up, most 8ft beds are 4x4 and have 302's for alittle more horsepower, so im wondering if my setup is rare? any info from someone would be nice
@1990fordf150custom No it's not, at least not here. I've seen quite a few of those here with Inline 6's. Personally, I'd rather have the Inline 6 over the 302, but that's just me. However, both are good motors!
@BeboAltizer definitely go for it, make sure to take good care of it! they're great trucks.. if you get the inline 6, you'll have an unreal amount of torque at a low low rpm.
i have a 93 f150 4.9 that ive had for a year and a half and i love it. bought for 800 and it had 119,000 at the time. now 132. live in the detroit mi area and drove to florida and back during a month layoff this past late december. got my k&n filter charger kit and installed last week. hate that they dont make an actual cold air for this year truck but oh well. 211 well spent because u can feel a good difference even though they say its only a 5hp increase. feels like more.
@ihenderson55 honestly, i'm quite fond of the sound of Borla w/ gutted cats. Or flowmaster. Either way, gutted cats give these trucks a gurgly, deep sound. But that's just opinion :P
@abram7117 This thing can tow insanely well. It had such a massive amount of torque, and it was very low in the powerband. It had, if I recall correctly, around 160hp... and about 270lb/ft of torque?
@jdshaq in case you aren't wondering why i've been deleting your comments, i'm sorry, but i knew my truck better than you did. Maybe i was wrong about the video, but I don't need you commenting my video numerous times saying the exact same thing
Yeah.. this truck had so much torque, I had to literally BABY it until about fifteen.. as you can tell, if i mash the gas around 20 it spins and spins uncontrollably :/
Thanks! Yeah, that was actually a bad launch. It's really all dependent on how I give it the throttle, depending on how it shifts -- if I flat out floor it, it's around 10 seconds. If I time it right, I can get it around 8. Only problem is my tranny, hahaha. Goes into Overdrive around 55. Any ideas?
wow 8 sec is pretty damn quick for that motor. what is it a shortbed reg cab? i hope...cuz my '97 5.4 4x4 reg cab's best time ive got is 8.59. (actually timed it to the hundredth wit the tuner)
Yeah, i've considered buying a chip for my truck.. I'm cheap though.. So yeah. I'm pretty sure that if my truck was a standard, or at least shifted better, it'd be a decent bit quicker. I like it a lot. and yeah, shortbed single cab -- my other vids show it off. 8.59 isn't bad, those 5.4's can haul ass if you do them right. :)
well it was well into the 9's before i did anything to it. the 97 only was rated at 235 hp and 335 ft lbs... now id guess im around 270 hp (k&n filter, flowmaster 40 series, edge evo level 3) but still isnt that quick but oh well, it weighs nearly 5000 lbs...
Well, I don't know what was wrong with your tranny, but I'd say it still had good pulling power in OD with that 300-6 :-) Do you miss it? What do you have now?
How has that car been reliability wise? When I worked in the garage, they seemed to be very troublesome. Not knocking it, hope it does fine, but I'd be looking into another vehicle. I say this nicely as possible.
Only done one oil change so far, no spark plug change/air filter clean... Just keeping her clean etc... and she's running great!
Only problem though.. the Transmission "O/D Off" light seems to enjoy flashing ;P
it still drives normal...
actually, i'm looking at getting another truck. Probably an 02-04 Dodge Ram 1500... w/ the 4.7 v8 if I can find it, hemi if the rest of the truck matches ;)
I knew it wouldn't take too long ;-). I don't know much about the 4cyl 626's, but the V6 ones had a lot of engine problems... especially head gaskets and electrical problems from what I saw.
Hope ya get it all figured out and get back into something reliable.
Haha, yeah it was great for quite a few months.. but it's got quite a few problems, think you may be able to help me with any?
My main concern right now is a fierce vibration. I replaced two motor mounts, and upon removing the old ones, they were completely terrible and ruined.. Replacing helped, but the problem still remains a lot. Any ideas?
hey i have a 95 f-150, with the 300 in it, and i was looking at the flowmaster 40 for a deeper sound like yours, and my question is, is that all you have done? put a flowmaster 40 on and maybe duals out? or what all did u do?
well, I had my 2nd converter replaced with a hi-flow cat, although I don't think it made much difference. It's a 40 series flowmaster, K&N Air Filter also, and in this video I have dual turndown's. It has a 3" Inlet and two 2.5" outlets. Personally, if I was you, I would NOT get turndowns... get the sound from out of under the cab -- drone is ridiculous at highway speeds. I say get it ran out the back somehow, or maybe lightning style, or however you want it -- just the drone is really bad. GL!
pretty good,...faster than my 300. check it out. i plan on buying a new car hopefully sometime in april or summer at latest. i've driven my truck to hell and back and the onlything i needed to replace was the waterpump. i think it deserves to have a peaceful rest of its life. which could possibly be longer than mine with how tough these motors are
thanks! yeah, it really sped up when i replaced my 2nd converter -- it was cloggeddd bad. but it's a lot quicker now, just gotta time my throttles to where it shifts good. sometimes in drive it starts off in second, which ruins my 0-60. it was in this video. what kinda car you gonna get, and are you selling your truck or no?
im looking for something with 4 doors maybe 2. if a v6 i want a low discplacement one like around 2.5-3.0(except ford taurus'sthere slow and get shity mileage). or a 4-cylinder car with decent pep to it. im looking to average around 25mpg's or up. but no im not selling the truck. its reliable and it could come in great use so im just gonna let my parents keep it in the garage or something while im still in school(college)
Look at your pumpkin. On it is a tag. It should say something like 3 08 or 3 55. There will be an "L" between the 3 and 08 if you have limted slip. As hard as your truck takes off, I'd say you have 3.55's. Of course my motor is more than likely to be more tired than yours due to the mileage difference. When I had short tires with 4.11's my truck flew off the line like yours.
Haha. Someone offered me 6500 for it.. dad said no. when he told me mom about it, she slapped him lol. Eh, to be honest my dad is the one looking at selling it lately. He's the one who brought it up to me, the selling idea -- he's a dodge man, as you can tell from the cummins in the BG of some others. I know I love my truck, but eh. I love dodge too.. iunno =(
Parents did and I paid back. They agree, just need to get all the rattles out of it lol. Then I may consider selling, maybe. I do know that tomorrow I'm getting my pipes ran out the back...
Those engines sound similar to the cummins I6 haha....the 300 i6 is one badass engine

WOW!!!!! ~12 sec!!!!! not to shabby indeed!!!! is the exhaust all you have done to it?

@BeboAltizer yes and it had a K&N air filter at the time
it would've been a lot quicker if it didn't have the same gears.

moves pretty good for a 93. does it have any towing power? I heard these vehicles only had about 155HP stock from the factory.

mine was ~8-7 sec... :/

you shifted to early!!!!!

it always shifted that way.... i was basically flooring it at 70mph.. yeah it'd get up to like 90, but still, :/
