Its funny how all the comments side with the mentally ill patients, but never with the suffering family members. ;] and i think the husband is upset because his child was almost killed over something stupid, so he asked dumb questions, sort of like, sarcasm.
@britishgurl2000 When I was inpatient the bathroom was always locked. We weren't allowed to go for 1 hour after meals and 30 mins after snacks. When we could go the door was a curtain and the nurse could see our feet while we went. I you really have to go during the times slots the nurse simply watches you closer
dear god! the doctor's clueless! "she's a bulemic.?! no, she HAS bulemia. wow! this is idiotic! "we have a new bulemic." REALLY?!!!!!!!!! UGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!
I don't know who decided that was an ok line. It's the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. God, if someone asked me that I'd be obligated to punch them.
Also damn, what psych ward/ ED ward gets TVs in their own rooms? I know of some resi places but I haven't met a hospital yet that gives us that sort of fun times. "fun" hah.
"because she is a bulimic" oh fuck that shit. I'm so glad ED treatment has come further than "she is a bulimic" "that's what she is" shit. @mcpelicanus "stupid bitch"? It's called an illness. A sickness. A disease. Would you say that about a cancer patient who hid their illness for their family's sake?Like my mother who hid her cancer from me until I'd finished my finals...was she a stupid bitch? Fuck that. Take a class or two in LIFE please, and get the hell over yourself.
@MsPelicanus are you going to continue to comment your bullshit on every single video? please go somewhere else where you can talk to other assholes just like yourself so you dont offend another person suffering from this illness.
@Citrousful Pretty much took the words out of my mouth. Find out your wife has a serious illness and you flip out at her? Definitely a healthy relationship. Also since when did these nurses in the hospital have the right to tell her what her room mate has?
They are just attacking her!! THAT IS TERRIBLE!! SHE IS SICK!! SHE CAN'T HELP IT!! And how unprofessional out in the open like that--instead of being compassionate they make her feel like crap!! That is terrible. And her husband is a JERK!!!
They are just attacking her!! THAT IS TERRIBLE!! SHE IS SICK!! SHE CAN'T HELP IT!! And how unprofessional out in the open like that--instead of being compassionate they make her feel like crap!! That is terrible.
Ok, eating breakfast there would drive me crazy! All that noise, the nurses watching you, the other patients watching you, and looking at everyone else! It would be horrible!
I could handle it most times, but right away in the morning would be the worst. -_-
@WitheringChild That's not fair. How do you know that you wouldn't react the same way to something so traumatic? It's easy to judge him, but the fact is that he had every right to be hurt and angry that she was keeping something like that from hiim. Especially in light of her refusing to let their daughter have sugar (a sign that she is projecting her issues with food onto the girl).
it's very interesting to see a time when bulimia was almost unheard of and most people didn't know wat it was. It's hard to find a person who doesn't know wat bulimia is now.
Everyone who is criticising this - The husband, the doctors etc.
This was made in 1986 when far less was known about ED's (and most mental illnesses for that matter). Also when someone is ignorant whether now or in these times they will react. If you knew someone was hurting themselves and endangering their life who you loved, you'd be scared, upset, angry. If you knew more about it you'd know how to react and how not to, but it's hard.
@milkshakegirl1 See, out of the husband and the doctors, the husband's the best. He knows nothing about this. Yeah, he's very angry with her, but he doesn't know anything about the ED or about EDs in general with her. He's hurt. Not really his fault.
Wow...how humiliating. The doctor just comes out and tells the dude and shes like not even ready to admit it yet. I know shes in danger..but come on. Its a bit forceful. Why didnt he sit down with her IN PRIVATE and talk about it... like some therapy sessions or something. This is horrible.
@LMNFanNTVadBuff haha yeah but she's doing much better now. she was recently on celebrity rehab and for her past life style she is one of the more educated addicts and she really understands her disorder.
@DyingtobeThin56 She's good now. She wrote a book, not long ago and, her father molested her, at a young age. She's hangin' in there, and I hope she is doin good. She was arrested, twice: 1977 disorderly conduct and possession of cocaine (found in her purse by officers) and 2008 possession of drug paraphanelia.
@LMNFanNTVadBuff yeah i remember my mom telling me about her dad and such. yeessh. what a tragic story but good for her considering she is able to write a book about it :]
My gooood! her family's reaction is just absolutely terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As is the institution! To cure an eating disorder you have to get to the core of the problem psychiologically, not only cure the symptoms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is so awful
My family was so supportive of me when they found out I was bulimic. I don't know what I would have done if they'd reacted the way Kate's husband reacted....it makes me really grateful. That said, this movie is so painful to watch.
@Cherrylips333 Being an adult doesn't mean anything. If a court finds you to be incompetent when it comes to your well being you will be forced to go and you can't do anything. You'll be like Britney Spears where you're an adult but you no longer are allowed to make choices for yourself so you are basically a child.
Its funny how all the comments side with the mentally ill patients, but never with the suffering family members. ;] and i think the husband is upset because his child was almost killed over something stupid, so he asked dumb questions, sort of like, sarcasm.
