  • i just love your video on credit. but, the dollar is about to collaps. the world economy is about to distance itself from capitalism. IMF-WORLD BANK as quiet as it is kept AFRICA IS ABOUT BECOME INDEPENDENT and that means that the British Pound and The Euro are going to feel the effect.

  • Damn you fine!

  • the economy is terrible =[ iit is a sad sad day [about the currency]

  • The ending is suspenseful. Can't wait to watch the next episode.

  • if the canadian dollar is greater, whoa did we get screwed by bush and stealing not only the presidency but our value in dollars.

  • I remember when Canadian money wasn't half the value of a dollar. In 2004 I could fill the tank of my Acura vigor with premium for $20 (a little more than a dollar a gallon). I went to get gas yesterday and full service was $4.70 a gallon. Thanks Mr. President

  • Should have kept some Kuwaiti dinar and exchanged it later when it's worth more and the dollar is worth less. =p

    On to Ep. #5! =)

  • I miss NY.

yes, the currency exchange tells you a lot. It is definitely a sad time for our economy.

  • Is this what happens when we fight an unprofitable war? I thought wars bring in money just like all the others have. Why are we in this war again? Gas prices have risen and we have nothing to show for it.

  • Thank you TomKen for breaking THAT down!!!

    -TonyaTko

  • 1 o'clock in the morning is just going to bed for me, lol. Tonya you're just so great, watching you at the currency desk, you can talk to anybody and seem so carefree and happy. You're my ray of sunshine here on youtube! Long may you entertain us.

  • I loved this video. Your so lucky I adore New York . Hope your having an awesome day.

  • that laugh at the end is crazy LOL

  • Wow, I remember when I went to Montreal a few years back and the rate was 1.42. Craziness

  • Hey Tonya!!

  • HEY GIRL! How are you?

    -TonTko

  • Hey Tonya! I love you little observations! It's a sad day! That's the Truth! -Dennis

  • With a cheaper US dollar, it's time for other countries to buy US? Right?

It all evens out in the end, you'll see.

Besides, paper currency in the US is FIAT currency, backed by nothing but what it can buy. It's a numbers game.

  • You're right about the FIAT issue... but why should the US be turned into an exporter where the bulk of our survival depends on the purchases of others?

You want us to live our lives as a country catering to others for survival?

WAKE UP! You ppl are going to make me do a video about this!

I'm getting angry! I HATE THE SINKING DOLLAR!!! H8!!! I hate the WEAKNESS that it indicates!

    -TonyaTko

  • :0) to quote you Tonya, "you ppl?" Hahaha, just kidding sweetie.

  • Tonya, your dad seems to be a pretty cool guy, thanks for sharing.

As far as the dollar v. dinar or canadian dollars, all is not glum. When the dollar is cheap, the other countries come to buy American products for a change(no pun intended).

  • ARRRRRRRRRGGHHH!!!!! Anger.... boiling.... must... calm.... down..... GGGRRRRRRR

    -TonyaTko

  • what did she pull out?

  • LOL! Watch ep #5

    -TonyaTKo

  • You are cute as a button! Personally, I don't care if the dollar is worth 10 cents! (so to speak) I think life here, in the US, beats the pants off of the value of money. And let's now start talking about women living in Kwait! You know what's up. And have you been to Canada. Check the cost of living there. Lastly, I don't see anyone halling-ass to leave the US. Although I wish some folks would get the 'h' on up out here. It's gettin crowded. Just my OP.

  • Whats wrong with the women in kuwait? They live like QUEENS! They are rich, and they are worshiped by their husbands, they RUN things in KW. Perhaps you may be referring to Saudi or someplace other... but you are way off the mark with the standard in Kuwait. Check my "Epic year" video and check the portion from kuwait... I got footage of women with no head scarves, happy children (uncovered) And me standing in front of a mansion where inside they had housemaids, chefs, gardeners etc!

    -TonyaTko

  • I don't live there and never been, but I did hear, and could be wrong that they, Kuwaity women, cannot drive or vote. They do not have a lot of say in their political make up. Now if that's wrong and they can walk, drive and wear freely, then I'm on the next plane as a single woman - they like single women?... Otherwise, I'll take my 10 cent dollar, get me 10 cents worth of gas and drive to the closest voting machine, in pumps and shorts... with a low cut blouse... showing my cleavage!

  • "Personally" you SHOULD care if the us dollar is worth ten cents. Things wont get cheaper here my heart, in fact, ppl from OTHER countries will swoop down in here and buy the things we CANT afford, like housing etc. (You would be amazed how many $3k/month apartments in time square belonged to Arabian people... now Japanese, & also Europeans.

You say you dont care if the dollar falls bcz you like the standard of living? LOL! Let it fall ENOUGH and you'd be surprised by the "standard!"

    -TonyaTko

  • Nice vid, Tonya. I didn't think they'd let you do all that filming in the airport.

Also, our (Canadian) dollar has been above yours for a while now, which is awesome cause it used to be a punchline, but now your buck is the drum role :P But don't worry about that... start worrying when you hear talk of us SHARING a united currency.

    Xox

  • Whats wrong with a UNITED currency? The people with the "Euro" SHO aint complaining!

    -TonyaTko

  • In theory; nothing. Tearing down borders is rarely a bad intension. But what "great" NEW borders will go up? ... ?

  • YES ITS A SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS FOR UNCLE SAM....god help us its going to take some real vision/courage/will and fortitude to turn this country around_ whats ironic with all of the improvements in security/infrastructure investments in manpower since 9/11 kennedy like most american airports is still a mess

  • THANK YOU!

  • Those security investments are mostly against Americans. One year before 9/11 I stood on the cockpit of the airliner I was training to fly and I made the comment that cockpit door wasn't good enough and my classmates laughed at me. Now I find that EL AL had secure cockpit doors since the 1960's and I'm mad.

google the "The Gottlieb-Tartaro Report Issue 082 October, 2001" and scroll down to where it says "thwarting hijackers" and you see what I am getting at.

  • "EL AL" Is that a middle eastern airline?

Its crazy to be in a country like America, and a STUDENT could identify a security weakness. NONSENSE!

    -TonyaTko

  • When Obama is President, we will be back on top again. Lol...you met a perv along the way..lol!! well thats better than me having a gay guy trying to buy me a drink at the bar at the airport...lol ..traveling it cool!

  • a drink is a drink isnt it?? Well I guess its what they WANT in exchange for that drank! LOL

    -TonyaTko

  • I would say that if that man was attempting to secure your favor, that alone wouldn't signify his being a "pervert".

    Unless of course there were intervening varibles;

    a. He was a pervert regardless

    b. There's something about yourself you are not telling us ;) tee hee.

  • your dad is right. how can "cold" be pretty? lol

  • Comedy hour continues! (rolling eyes)

    -TonyaTko

  • Yay - we are nearly on par with the US Dollar! Looks cold there in NY - can't wait for part II. =o]

  • Sad sad day... look how other countries cheer for our deflation :-((

    Sad sad day! LOL :oD

    -TonyaTko

  • Yes that Canadian Dollar is gaining on the US Dollar. I used to be able to go to Canada and get $1.50 for every U.S. dollar...Soon we will be using the dollar as toliet tissue.LOl

  • LOL!!! you are so silly. well THATS what my bulletin says!

    -TonyaTko

  • That is crazy..because honestly I did not even read the bulletins today...I just went straight to the new videos.

  • All Three New York Airports, Kennedy, LaGuardia, and Newark are all crazy. lol

  • Flying just really isnt as much fun as it once was... go overseas and you have no problems... well LESS problems and the ppl are nice.

    -TonyaTko

  • Great video. That's weird about the currency exchange.

  • I'm rarely as cool as your pops when I travel. It's such a mess these days. The Charlie Chaplin silent film analogy was pretty appropriate. Hope you're having fun!

  • My dad plans way in advance. He starts packing t-shirts and small things a month ahead of time... he'll have his suitcase open on the floor, and everytime he passes he may put a little item in there (USUALLY!) but this time around, watch episode 5 to see WHAT he packed and why he was through getting ready LONG before me!

    -TonyaTko

  • The Canadian dollar is getting stronger and stronger and it's having an adverse effect on our economy...so things aren't all rosy for us either. We're losing markets in the US, because it's costing more to import.

  • Costing more? How? if your dollar is stronger you should be able to import stuff for less

    -TonyaTko

  • So sorry I wasn't clear. It's costing more in the US to import from Canada. Two years ago, the US dollar was worth about 1.40 here, so it had more buying power in Canada...now it has less, so we are suffering. Forestry is a big industry where I live and it has been hit really hard. Mills closing all over Northwestern Ontario. No jobs, people are leaving in droves.

  • WOW :-o

    I had no idea

    -TOnyaTko

  • Sorry, I wasn't clear. It costs more in the US to import from Canada. So our exports are down. Forestry is the main industry where I live and it has been hit really hard. Mills closing all across the region, some permanently, high dollar and high cost of energy are killing us. It's nice to shop in the US now. 2 years ago it cost us $1.40 to buy a US $. They say it will stay at par now for a while. Who knows.

  • *greetings from canada*:)

It's more expensive for the US to "buy" imported goods from Canada b/c of the exchange. But then cheaper for us to buy from the US because of higher currency.

  • *greetings from canada*:)

It's more expensive for the US to "buy" imported goods from Canada b/c of the exchange. But then cheaper for us to buy from the US because of higher currency. Actually the $CD has been high for awhile now.

  • not so. Check the cost of living.

  • Nah, we're not on top anymore. Thats why they're giving the country to OBAMA! He is the fall guy! LOL! No.......just playing. He'll turn it around though. Real talk.

  • THERE A SAYING, IF ALL THE BLACKS BECAME MILLIONAIRES OVER NIGHT, THE WHITES WOULD CHANGE THE COLOR OF MONEY. JUST SO WE COULDNT CLAIM OUR PRIZE.. BUT THERE IS ANOTHER OLD SAYING MY parents use to tell me... play thier game until you get inside the door, then flip the script on em... ONLY TIME WILL TELL...

  • There really is enough for everyone. Note too, if everyone had a million dollars, it would only be a matter of time before 1 or 2 peoeple aquired most of everyone else's money. That is truth!

  • miel001? The Truth? According to which resource? If everyone had a million dollars then a million dollars would be worth a hundred bucks.... no one would be able to acquire all the money, we'd be too busy bargaining to spend $30,000 for a Big Mac (like in Jamaica -- and other parts of the world)... thats where inflation comes from; too much money in circulation. :-)

    -TonyaTKo

  • How else then is wealth 'wealth' acquired?

  • Be careful carrying around those Kuwaiti dinars in the airport, you might be put on the no-fly list :-(. Also, did you hear that the euro hit an all-time high of 1.5 today?

  • Are you SERIOUS!!??? This is RIDICULOUS! I knew I shoulda kept some Euro!

    -TonyaTko

  • Just invest overseas. That's where the smart money is going.

  • Invest overseas? How? My dollar can buy less than half a pounds worth of stuff.

    -TonyaTko

  • Buy silver. And jump some dollars into the forex market.

  • Collectibles can be a good place to diversify that portfolio. Aditionally, I have been looking at no load mutual fund that is in the emerging European and Asian markets. I'm leaving the established IRA's where they are, but this year I'm doing my new IRA contribution in the mentioned fund.

The US government just announced they are replacing their aging Boeing KC135's with Airbus product. Honda is pulling it's motorcycle production out of Marysville Ohio and taking it back to Japan I belive

  • I take it you don't have a brokerage account. e.g., Scottrade...? etc..

  • Go to T. Roe Price's web site and look up no load mutual funds. When you get to that page, scroll down their top picks and appoximatel five or six down, you'll something labled approximately "emerging european and asian markets". Check out the returns on that investment and the comments made by the brokers at T. Roe Price.
