Cave isn't one to remember his lyrics by heart and when he releases an album he doesn't like to think about it afterwards because it would only distract him from his new projects. Often at gigs he has the lyrics on the floor/to hand, but still there are many versions of his songs that are maybe one or two lines different. Sometimes it seems like its a totally different song at each performance because of lyrical/emotional differences.
