  • cool! where can i get 1? now all i need to do is get near Justin Bieber!

  • lets see what it does to eye balls!

  • this vid is bad for the eyes

  • dont look into the stream of light

  • no sound

  • @asmordi Yeah, my bad. Feel free to listen to your radio at any time.

  • uh, aren't the fumes dangerous to inhale?

  • @nagori511 they can be; depends on what kind of plastic it is.

  • @nagori511 Yes, they can be really nasty, depending on the plastic. Make sure you have good ventilation; you can use a little exhaust fan too.

  • put that on a cnc machine and make some money

  • chuck norris can do that with his eyes 10 times faster

  • what are the specs on that diode

  • Oh my god i am in a youtube cage! I cant escape!

  • Did you write "Laser" or "Loser" ?

    I am guessing "Loser"

  • i have 16 dvd's i think i will make a video about this too cuz i have six lasers and i sell them for 600$

    alrdy sell 4 :)))

  • ...WICKED LASERS IS A SCAM !!!....dont waste you money !!

    try rclaserssales.webs.com

    they are real.

  • lol grammer this the internet not school dumbass

  • Could you point that at someone's head, and ingrave your name there too?

  • @snowourder No, you can't

  • @Madgyver2 fuc it im gonna point it at a girls boobs or ass and engrave my name XD

  • @Madgyver2 then whats the point of having it

  • @xGIATIx Building a driver circuit for it is a good exercise for me.

  • @Madgyver2 why so serious?

  • @kickmeout1 why so lame?

  • @PossessorMetal why so cunt?

  • @Madgyver2 that comeback could not have been any worse or any more boring.

  • @lightspeednoodles Yeah, at least I am not you. That always cheers me up

  • @Madgyver2 GOOD ONE !

  • @xGIATIx haha thumbs up :3

  • @snowourder yes you can,it just needs some black sharpie

  • @snowourder You need a knife for that :P

  • A flying pig just hit my window!

  • @ChristianCrusader1 u lucky every time i look out my window my neighbor stairs at meO.o

  • 4 euros? A dvd burner to get the diode out of costs at least 30!!!

  • @lukefeasey you don't have to buy a new one. I get broken ones for a few € normaly. most of the time I get them for free. Also new 20x drives cost arounf 15€,so check your supplier, 30€ seems a little bit pricy

  • DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG

    master chief at 0:59

  • i dont really think colour has a factor in cutting ability, though i may be wrong. im sure you could change the colour crystal and have blue or any other colour.

  • @lilHamminator It does. Materials don't absorb all wave lengths or colors equally well. This effect is one of the main reasons we see colors at all. The color of an object consists basically of all the wavelengths it can't absorb very well. You might have notice dark colored objects heat up very fast in the sun, that's because they absorb almost everything. Metals reflect almost everything, so they appear shiny and are hard to cut with lasers. Also they disspate heat quickly, so.. even worse^^

  • @lilHamminator Its got to be color there is nothing else there. A laser is light and light is color.

( Colour is spelled Color in the U.S)

  • got 1

  • Aluminum will reflect about 98% of the IR that you give it. You can use a router to cut thin stuff a lot faster than you can laser it. If you try to accelerate the cut with Oxygen, you burn a lot more aluminum than you wanted to. Mighty wide kerf.

  • What amazes me is that so many folks feel motivated to belitle Madgver2's accomplishment. If any of you critics have something worthy of posting that is a cool as this Laser pen, then please post it. Otherwise, move out of your moms basement, lay off the world of warcraft and make something cool yourself.

I have three Amada and one Cincinati lasers that run 24/7 cutting steel and aluminum. Aluminum cutting is more of a challenge than stainless steel. Any of you brainiacs know why?

  • @punkinhaidmartin Because it is a non-ferrous material (because it is just straight up aluminum) meaning it doesn't contain iron, so it doesn't 'burn' or 'melt' well. And, it's bad to 'burn' it because it produces gasses that are very dangerous to inhail, IF you are using coated aluminum sheet metal (the zinc coating will produce a white gas, that's how you know it's bad). However from a machinist (sp) point of view, it's impecably easy because it's a soft metal.

  • @punkinhaidmartin Furthermore, Aluminum Hydroxide Al(OH)3, also known as 'Alum' is used as a fire retardent as a filler in polymer applications, in a similar way as Magnesium Hydroxide, and Hydromagnesite. However, I'm not completely certain if these are any of the reasons as to why it may be difficult, but that's just my 2 cents worth....I believe this guy because I'm making a red mini maglight laser right now actually, I'm about to go to the last part of the souldering.

  • @punkinhaidmartin If (I probably am) I am wrong about my assumptions, could you explain to me why it's more difficult? I am very intrigued.

  • Laserrrrsss.. weeee

  • Look Mom, No Retina!

  • @xexorz I have protective Eyewear, genius!

  • hahahaha

  • It's real you can see smoke in the video just watch closely

  • Can it engrave anything else?

  • @fraserarts99 Only plastic and chocolate I suppose.

  • just go to a higher technical school... this is kid stuff

  • @UtopiaStayFocused So what? I worked with lasers made by Trumpf that can cut Steel like its butter. If you go to one of those schools, I don't think they will give you full access to such an expesive machine just like that. My Laser is the most powerfull one can get on a low budget.

  • @Madgyver2 that is nothing. I used a L.A.S.E.R. (remember it is an acronym!) that cut through 3 inches of titanium, and 5 1/2 inches of steel.

  • @MASTURCHEEF001 So? Why do you believe the one I used was anything less? The Trumpf model was one of the most powerfull CO2 laser cutters they manufacture. We used it to cut sheet metal but also to make blanks for the diemakers or cut parts from hardened metal parts for repair.

Does no one here get that I am an Engineer?

  • @MASTURCHEEF001 Yeah right, and I am the emperor of the rising sun. Phd in Engineering with 20y, my ass. When did you start your Master Thesis? With 12? What was you doctorate dissertation about? Get your head out of your ass you phony.

The Trumpf Laser cutters are used for as much as 3 feet of steel, and the only clearance you need if you are actually employed is a laser safety seminar.

  • @MASTURCHEEF001 that's pretty cool... i'm mickey mouse, so is my brother. and your mother couldn't get her mouth off my brother's mickey-mouse-willy long enough to go to college. your grammer is AMAZING for someone as "Educated as you"

  • @brutedude1 Word!

  • @brutedude1 "Grammar" common mistake, don't sweat it

  • @brutedude1

    "grammer"

    What's that?

Didn't you mean to say "grammar"?

  • @brutedude1 I love how people insult each other over the internet about grammar when they cant even spell GRAMMAR themselves! You also lack capital letters which is also a grammatical error. Stop being a hypocrite and get a damn spell checker man.

  • @Hematite1000 Well, your right. But the point here is that in order to get a PhD you need the ability to write on a fairly high level. That's not something you can switch on and off. So it is very unlikely that a guy with such poor grammar skills (and a Youtube channel full of of gaming videos) has a PhD in anything.

  • @Hematite1000

    Redundancy is also bad grammar.

  • @brutedude1 You misspelled "grammar" and are clearly at most 16 years old.

  • @brutedude1 Lol "grammer", is that how you spell it yeah?

  • @brutedude1 nice spelling

  • kidding me!

  • lol, theres a laser cutter at my school (that costs over £2000 ive heard) and the burning laser component in it is fucking tiny. looks like ma school got ripped off.

  • @bananasquads Its not a rip off those lasers are very powerfull probably like some watts or more

  • not real, to clean of letters

  • YOU'RE not real! =P

  • @Madgyver2 haha

  • @SofWProductions actually, i can do letters just as clean with a magnifying glass and the sun... it just takes steady hands lol

  • your eyes wont get damaged from looking at the screen. your screen can only emit a beam as strong as the monitors coloring and brightness will allow and it never emits focused light. so no it wont hurt your eyes at all when viewing on a comp or camera. in real life, high powered laser dots can cause flash blinding effects. very high powered lasers can be detrimental to your eyes even if it is only a refraction being viewed.

  • You know all he did was engrave before he pointed the the Laser

  • Yeah....right..

Also in the other video, I ignite the match with my mind powers not my laser. I am sorry, I'm such a fraud....

  • lol

  • you're dumb how do you think you can burn a CD the laser in your cd/dvd drive engraves information onto the plastic disc, really onto the thin metal coating on a plastic disk but that is why scratches make it unreadable is because the reader/burner use two different frequencies the burner being of a more intense light wave that can literally burn a tiny engraving onto the disc, and the reader can follow those engravings to turn into data, he's not a fake

  • Thats like saying "You're dumb how could someone produce enough electricity to power a city by putting a turbine into steamstream and attach it to a generator"

  • that is COMPLETELY different.

  • anyway, the point is that if laser can engrave data in a disc, then shiltoads of laser can cut it in half even

  • can it hurt your eyes while your watching the video?

  • of course

same applies when you make a photo of a mirror, you then can mirror yourself on the monitor

  • Yes.

  • WHILE WATCHING THE VIDEO?

  • so if i stare i will get blind?

  • @Shadow4909

Yes, be sure not look at your computer monitor or you may have temporary vision loss.

  • lol

  • Hey man, did you know that your monitor will emitt gama rays when you watch nuke going off :D

  • No it cannot hurt you from watching it on a monitor, as someone pointed out - the reproduction lacks the focus -

and it also lacks the intensity as well as the frequency - all it displays is the visible color spectrum - but no projected energy .......

... No you can't get hurt from looking at a painting even if it is electronic

(old CRT monitors used to emit G-rays - regardless of what you were watching - but in virtually unmeasurable small amounts)

  • thats fake

  • nope.. lasers CAN burn and you see and tutoral for this @ youtube: /users/kipkay

  • man i would hurt someone if i had one

  • you can't, well just by aiming at someones eyes

  • i would use it on my math professor....xD

  • Will it hurt damage your eyes even if its not pointing right into the eyes ? what about just looking at the beam and reflections off things ?

  • It is potentially harmfull yes. Always wear protective goggles!

  • yes

  • @joelcr250 Ya If its black electrical tape, feels like looking at sun. Imagine white wall... That hurt me a lil i got temp blinded from that and a lil dizzy

  • hey what power u using batterys or what? i have that laser diod from dvd player but its still weaker than my 4.9$ laser pen

  • I use a 6V/2.8Ah lead cell. Dvd Player wont do, has to be a recorder or "burner". Also chances are you picked the IR-Diode, those aren't totally invisible but appear as a faint red. Careful: even if it looks dim, the power output can be high enough to burn your eyes out.

  • is that from a DVD Burner or a DVD Player???

Whats the difference if u use the former?

  • It's from a burner. A diode from a burner has significantly more power output then one from a DVD Player.

  • awesume cooliest pen evor

  • umm ok?

  • sum green lasers can burn stuf evan light cigs, but your talkin $400

  • not even $400 for a good one if you are looking to buy a laser you have the cash your gonna end up spending $3000

  • check out dragon lasers

  • Are you serious? i can get a 200 mW green laser for... well i dont live in USA so i dont use dollars but roughly calculated it would be 150-200 dollars

  • @CrazySkullll

it dosnt matter how big the power off the laser is well it does but also matters on how concentraded the beam is a 50 mW violet laser could be more powerful than a 200 mW green laser

  • @kkjiikk Blah blah blah it was a reply to someone saying that lasers on 100 mW Costed around 1000 dollars which would be a huge ripoff as i can get one with double power output for 1/4-1/5 of the price

  • could u like smuggle that on a plane? its just a laser pointer no harm done...but that might be wat other people think...terrorists on a plane with a laser pointer...XP easier than smuggling a gun or bombs

  • what the flying fuck?

  • I love this expression

  • Well the device is basically harmless unless you point it in someones eye. The same goes for a toothpick.

On the other hand the sky marshall onboard who will beat the crap out of you for fooling around are not harmless at all.

  • Blind him then he wont know who you are... Some old grannie will get the blame. XD

  • You go try and take over a plane with a laser, and I'll watch you get tackled in a second.

  • Can i buy one of these from you?

  • I wonder if he was wearing eye protection while doing that ? If not he will be coke-bottom glasses grandpa.

  • I am not Hill Billy, I am an Engineer. Of course I had eye protection.

  • XD what would happen if you sneezed?, cut the table, ur arm, hand, somethign important XD

  • no there not powerful enough

  • haha:P

  • lol thats wat i use to think lmao...i could imagine that though u sneeze and half ur body is gone...james bond is so misleading

  • i did it with a 16x dvd burner lightscribe drive, but it wont burn:O

    WHY???

  • ...wouldn't using lasers made from DVD players and other disc reading equipment be bad for you to use... considering that all that stuff has low emissions of radiation...?

  • Well, the radiation here is 650nm. Which is essentially red light.

Beside the obvious retinal dangers, what's your point?

  • yep remember to wear the proper safety glasses kids!

shame about the blurry vid but i bet the plastic looks like a TIG weld using fusion

  • how did u do that?

  • Damn. If I had a DVD burner, I wouldn't open it up. xD

  • I wouldn't either if i actually bought it for the original price or if it were still working. But a broken one for 2-3 bucks? Who cares?

  • dude i just got mine! i'm gonna go engrave my name into my ipod!!

  • i find that a bad idea o.o

  • that could destroy your ipod.

  • Impressive. I was considering doing this; the effect is quite nice. However, a professionally built high-power green laser has a better operational life, from what I've read.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Sure, a professional built laser will have a better operational life compared to a crappy built one. On the other side, if the homemade unit is well built too, you wont see any difference. They don't have any kind of special tools, voodoo magic or satanic dance rituals that make the laser last longer.

However, they DO have better ways to adjust the optics, so beam quality could be signifcantly better.

  • Do you know what the precise output in mW this has? Just curious.

  • Not precise, just a wild guess. It has to be more then 100mW, probably 160mw optical output.

  • But I love voodoo magic! D:

  • can any green laser burn things?

  • Yeah, basically any laser with an output of 75mw+ can easily melt *black* plastic, pop *black* balloons, or light *dark* matches, etc. You see the trend.

  • i refuse to believe u actually wrote that

  • i can do better with my lightsaber...

  • how did you do this ?

  • its not fake your the fucking idiot iv made one they burn through plastic, cloth, paper, and rubber there all you neeed is a dvd burner diode

  • those are waaay to dangerous for modern people to own hey cant literally blind you for life

  • there illegal in the us lol

  • u can cut yourself out of plastic police zip tie handcuffs

  • Wel if u can.... I so want one !

  • i bought i laser/ ink pen at walgreens for 2.99 so i win lol =]

  • Can someone say "Great for Riot Cuffs" ?

  • very excellent

  • How it work if i point it do myself ? lol

  • what do you think?

  • how did u make it

  • hahaha, what happens if i put it on my face?

    =D

  • you got the "Idiot Mark" :D

  • weeee!

  • u rock i think it smells like tacos dont know were you others guys are smelling fish

  • people like you made it posible to fly and drive with H2o cars. keep inventing! :D

  • i tried to make one but the laser wuz like 5000nm which doesnt look like a laser point and i cant find something lower than that.

and im not taking apart my xbox360!

plz reply back i need help!!!!!

  • eeeh you cansee the laser pointer in his hand in the tight of his pointing finger !

  • if u look closely, the words "laser" were made of tiny dots... it looks like a vibration tipped physical engraver : /

but thats just my opinion anyhow

  • It takes too long to cut lines with a laser.

  • hello the video is great man.I like it.

But can you tell me how to make it please?

  • hmm why does the video keeps playing and stopping every second , something smells fishy

  • just click ahead a little. it's fine.

  • that happened to me to and something does smell fishy

  • that was really cool

  • how do you make it

  • so you gonna show us how to make it?

  • COOL MEN YOUR AWSOME
