Without Ozzy AND the other band members that helped make Diary of a Madman album AND blizzard also, There wouldnt be Randy the Legend. He was still an awesome guitarist, but THIS album, made a huge solid concrete foundation in the music world. Randy had just the right amount of everything to put chills up your spine with some of his leads, not to mention his compositions & riffs were incredible. No one else was laying down riffs like that way back in those days. Complex stuff.
This brings me back very heavy song for its time. The opening bit of music is an old classical piece from the 1800 or something like that .Fuck great song love it
@studio163: If I remember correctly it is written by Leo Brouwer, and he is actually still alive. My guitar teacher once gave me these notes by Brouwer, entitled "Study VI" or something, and soon as I started playing I realised it's the same song I've been playing for years, Diary Of A Madman intro.

Randy was placed 85 on the rolling stones top 100 guitarists of all time list and i find that a disgrace he should be way lower than 85 at least 30 at least
a lot of people talk about what good is when it comes to guitarists. they talk about speed or emotion. but i think the best way to measure the greatness of a guitarist is to go into a guitar store and hear what all the rock musicians are playing. and you know what? it's always crazy train. who says he wasn't influential? what guitarist doesn't know that famous intro within a moment of it beginning?
i know dude i have never got that rap has what some dude singing they write a song in a day a good rock/metal song takes like a few mouth's to do this song it toke him like allmost a full year to get up to the solo!! and what does he get yelled at bye little fag that call them self "rapper" rip anyone and eveyone who has died rocking cliff dime randy kurt
@Unchined1 long delayed but there are ppl out there who listen to ALL musical spectrums -I was brought up on Fleetwood Mac, Eagles and so on. Age 9 comes around and I hear Crazy Train for my first time and I was like "Whoa!". Age 20 comes around and I'm a bar DJ, playing that "heeep Hop" crap - Nothing can compare to this music, without it, we wouldnt have the hip hop rap crap thats out. Credit for credit earned, Music is wonderful in all of its forms
This is awesome so many people on here wanna argue over the dumbest things but all of you all really appreciate true talent and just a unbelievable guitar player R.I.P Randy Rhoads

im 15 and rhoads has been my fav guitarist for about three years he the only reason i play guitar he is the greatest influence but nobody my age knows who he is except some of my friends
well in your area where i live everybodys heard of him but its sad to see that not alot of people know who he is anymore you know. BUT randys the best guitar player ever!!!!!!!!!!!
i feel the same way, only i'm sixteen and he's been my favorite for about the same period of time, and his guitar playing is amazing, it blew me away when i actually knew it was him playing crazy train, and especially on over the mountain
Hey look, Ive been a fan of rhoads since i was 6, that was 10 years ago, i still am. But, was rhoads such a big influence when he was alive? and like why do you become ten times more famous and appreciated after you die? Wasnt during this time, people were more fascinated by evh? Im not trying to sound like a douche
"Blizzard" was introduced in 1980; the first time I heard Ozzy's new band was the summer of 1980 on legendary radio station KMET. By that time EVH had changed the world and rock guitar as an art form. The music world was looking for the next Eddie, wanting to know if he was a freak of nature or a signal of a new generation of guitarist. Randy was the person many were looking for as he was different than Eddie-classically trained, formally educated and a passionate student of the guitar (more)
Eddie was incredibly innovative and brought a white hot groove back to rock guitar. Randy was musically educated and skilled, had a deep desire to learn more about music than just playing fast and loud. Since Randy didn't hit the airwaves like a neutron bomb as EVH did, it took awhile for people to understand what he was doing and how he was doing it. Musicians were influenced by Randy as they could see he knew what he was doing. That's why RR has this staying power 25 yrs after his death.
you are, as you of course know, completely correct! Been a fan of 'Diary' for decades and had NO idea it was an interpretation of Brouwer's work. Thanks for insight! peace
bucketheads talented, very. but randy blows him away. i get cold chills every time i hear this album, when i hear bucket head play im like, how in the hell does he do that. but randy was one of the greatest and there will never be another randy, ever. and it really sucks. im just saying buckethead can play good but thats about it.

Rhandy was a legend, greatest guitarist ever in my opinion, but legends aren't just born. Practice people, practice, it's not enough to dream, you gotta chase those dreams. Sociesty is generally less accepting of "Guitar Heroes" today with all the hip hop and grunge metal.
yeah the angel picture. my favorite rockstar pic ever. got it over my bed R.I.P Rhandy. We will always love you. now your in heaven having a cold one with dimebag and Hendrix.
I saw Randy Rhoads a month before he died...to this day I find myself grieving for his loss. Not only was he the greatest guitarist ever, but the hair was unbelievably gorgeous! I tried many times in my teenage years to get it to look like Randy's.
I actually went to the city where Randy was buried. San Bernardino i believe. We were in LA, and my parents drove me to Randy's burial point. I went to his grave and put some flowers on his grave. I've never felt a more traumatizing moment. bout 5 feet below my feet, my favorite guitarist was buried. RIP Randy, betcha showing Jesus how to rock, with Jimi Hendrix, John Bonham, and John Lennon. Rock on.
Randy actually said he wouldn't mind inspiring kids and being called a Guitar Hero. Look today, Randy inspired Zakk to play and Dime, he's inspired a lot of neo-classical metal guitarists, he's inspired kids to play. Randy was a God of guitar.
Yeah, my two favorite guitarists, Dime and Zakk said if it weren't for people like Randy, there would be no Zakk or Dime. Think about that? And Zakk is now refered as one of the last living guitar heroes left too. Personally, Randy, Dime, and Zakk I consider them all equals in guitar playing.
Hey I didn't say I called him the last living, I just hear it a lot lately and they've even posted it in a couple guitar world magazines when they interview him saying "People refer to you as one of the last living guitar heroes." There are still plenty of them alive like Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, there are still plenty alive. And eventually there will be a new guitar hero out and about, but there hasn't been one for awhile.
Very cool Vid,and a Great Tribute to Randy Rhoads,I remember the day he died very well, and as an Ozzy fan..since his days with Sabbath,my opinion is that "Diary of a Madman" is the greatest Rock song ever made!
Thanks a bunch for posting this Video,It brought tears to my eyes..and broughyt back a whole lot of great memories for me..JUST AWESOME!!!
Grrrrrr......

Tools sounds better? OMG you must be kidding. Am I the only one who thinks this? The original recording cannot be beat.

Tool sounds better, although this version is kinda okay. It doesn't have the mystery and beauty of the Tool version. 8 out of 10.

You can suck my tool. Randy Rhoads redefined heavy metal guitar while Tool is an overly popular nu metal abberition.

i heard that they all just hung out with each other alot, not that randy was influenced by them i dunno my research might be wrong lol

Rock on.

before i heard this song. I didn't care for classical guitar. But after hearing this i play it all the time.
sethkowns 3 years ago 3
Randy actually said he wouldn't mind inspiring kids and being called a Guitar Hero. Look today, Randy inspired Zakk to play and Dime, he's inspired a lot of neo-classical metal guitarists, he's inspired kids to play. Randy was a God of guitar.

randy was the god of guitar, he inspired ppl who ppl think now are guitar gods
Trogdor8freebird 3 years ago
Yeah, my two favorite guitarists, Dime and Zakk said if it weren't for people like Randy, there would be no Zakk or Dime. Think about that? And Zakk is now refered as one of the last living guitar heroes left too. Personally, Randy, Dime, and Zakk I consider them all equals in guitar playing.
blacklabelsociety46 3 years ago
Last living? As if they're a classifiable species o_O theres plenty of legends born each day, just gotta keep your eyes peeled
D0g63rt 3 years ago
Hey I didn't say I called him the last living, I just hear it a lot lately and they've even posted it in a couple guitar world magazines when they interview him saying "People refer to you as one of the last living guitar heroes." There are still plenty of them alive like Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, there are still plenty alive. And eventually there will be a new guitar hero out and about, but there hasn't been one for awhile.
blacklabelsociety46 3 years ago
wouldnt call Zakk a legend or hero just a super-guitarist
