When I saw someone other than Elliott giving the presentation.... I was kinda weary. I'm used to seeing Elliott answer questions, so I didn't know how someone new would handle it. Now that I've watched the video... I think someone is about to get a new subscription.
I am currently doing John Romaniello's Fat Loss Forever program and have lost 8 pounds in 5 days on the 10 day rapid meltdown. I am currently in pretty good shape, 204 lbs with around 14% bodyfat, and these workouts are absolutely brutal. Yesterday I did a density workout where I ended up lifting over 55,000 pounds in 53 minutes plus 45 BW pushups. By far the most weight I have ever done in EDT blocks(I used to do 20 minute versions of EDT Blocks). He knows his stuff, very good program...
Lol, what are you? Stupid? Do you know how many calories people use on average throughout the day? Cardio is NOT overrated, cardio makes you overall, more healthy. Obviously, with the rate of obesity in the U.S.A., cardio is underrated.
the person who asks the question looks way healthy. Cardio is overrated for him. Roman is not saying that cardio is overrated for all the obese people in America.
hey man, stay in the gym for 1 and a half to 2 hours and then do cardio for an hour to an hour and a half each day. It keeps me and shape and gets me starting position for high school footaball. IT WORKS!
so i have a question if you gained body fat and yo do cardio twice a week for three hours cuz i swing dance is that too much? i have notice more body fat surrounding my abs. i weigh 175 pounds and i was eating barely any carbs. i have uptake my carb intake on those days i do my cardio 2300 and then go back down to 1800 on weight days which is three days a week. am i overtraining to the point that my cortisol levels are too high?
dude i had the same problem , i got ripped but not ripped ripped , i just started to get small and lost alot of muscle because of the more cardio i did
This is great advice also ive noticed that doing cardio on my high carb days and avoiding cardio on my low carb days has been more beneficial for me overtime. Then again that's just me. But also being on low carbs for too long is bad for you so you have to be careful. It's all trial and error though.
@gigsgigsgigsgigs geez thank you for having a brain! His whole thing in ketosis is wrong. Ketosis comes from eating to much protein. The more more protein you consume you increase KETONE BODIES. These things give you bad headaches among other things. I will agree about his recommendation of the .8g of protein. Its a little above what the body is actually uses (which is 90g a day). you can eat x amount of cals a day in grass, but if your getting x+20 cals you still gain weight.
@CivicSiGuy2007 Your wrong in almost every way. You enter ketosis by limiting carbohydrate intake to almost non existent (under 30-40g) for about 3-4 days. When gluconeogensis occurs your body converts protein into glucose which can only happen when your body is depleted of glycogen, and its difficult to replenish glycogen during such a low carb diet.
And then you go on to say your body only uses 90g of protein a day? That is simply wrong, no further explanation is needed.
@NJnaturalBB Not wrong.. Pick up a text book instead of a muscle and fitness mag. for the sake of arguing, why would you remove carbs so "you body turns carbs to protein"? Why not just have something with sugar? Ketosis is a result of TOOOOOO HIGHT of a protein intake and not enough carbs. For example, the HUMAN BRAIN USES CARBOHYDRATES for energy. When there is not enough, it uses ketone bodies. Text books > M&F. The human body is more complex then you may realize bub.
@CivicSiGuy2007 A keto diet isn't even a high protein diet, its higher in fat than protein. The reason you enter ketosis is because the body does not have enough carbohydrates to replenish glycogen stores, thats it, its not because your consuming 1-1.5g/lb of BW in protein. Gluconeogensis is what the body does to prevent blood glucose levels from dropping too low, since you know, your barely eating ANY carbs..
I don't understand the point of doing cardio. studies prove that after 4-6 weeks its useless because your body is used to it, so it tries to minimize energy burning (because its doing the same exercises for a long period of time).
lifting weights remains the best and most efficient way of burning fat.
if you really must run, then do so in the morning right after waking up, on an empty stomach (you'll burn fat 3 times faster ).
if you can run 20 minutes after working out, then you're not pushing
well explained ..totally agree with him about the cortisol thing..also loading on vitamin C pre and post cardio or weight lifting session might help as well.
Way to get complicated on something that is so simple, he looks to be around 11-13%body fat, he needs a strict diet, and doesn't need to worry about his cardio, what he is doing is fine. I'm a trainer and I was barely able to understand what this guy was talking about, it shouldn't have to get that complicated, only the Olympic bodybuilder need to get this specific . Have your carbs more towards the morning and lunch time, after lunch, try only lean cuts of meats and vegetables. Good luck
@misterRDF Yea, sorry, my cameraperson was actually one of my clients and we did the video right after training. She was completely exhausted. Sorry about that!
@Tarion666 Well, while there's no such thing as spot reduction per se, there are things you can to do help address this area a bit more. Which is why I wrote a book about it.
WOW all i have to say is thank you so much Elliot and Roman! I will take your advice and fallow it 100% You guys are so very knowledgable and it shows! I appreciate it!
Awesome, Thank you very much Elliot and Roman, really like the fact that you bring people in, you are true athlete in my book (if that matters) just for the fact that you are NOT know it all. Oh btw, saw your family pics, very beautiful family
@rqm420 I agree.......I use to think that more cardio will help you burn fat fast...Yeah, it can but its not the only thing that you can do. I started doing the three day split routine 50 minutes each workout/ with less cardio and I got cut up really fast.I dont know how it happened but it did...... Monday chest and shoulders& triceps 15 min slow to moderate cardio, Wed Legs 15 minutes slow to moderate cardio, Friday Back and biceps slow to moderate paste cardio.......
@rqm420 more specifically, higher density=more shredded. The body is quick to adapt, so you have to get progressively more intense sessions if fat-loss be the goal. Progression is also key in muscle and strength building.
When I saw someone other than Elliott giving the presentation.... I was kinda weary. I'm used to seeing Elliott answer questions, so I didn't know how someone new would handle it. Now that I've watched the video... I think someone is about to get a new subscription.
