  • i love how six and baltar have the same facial expression :p

  • Well Ellen was indeed one of my main suspects when I was first watching but her apparent "death" made everyone think otherwise...

  • Awesome. I completely forgot about it, and yet it was planned.

  • I never understoon why Adama gave Baltar a nuke unsupervised then Baltar gave the nuke to one of the peace people; which the other 6 used to blow up Cloud 9. Like who would trust him with anything?

  • Yeah, that part was a bit unrealistic, to say the least. Besides, they ring radiological alert if a ship that is still hundreds of miles aways has nukes on board, but a nuke on a civy in the midst of the fleet goes completely undetected?? Hmmm.

But anyway, it's such a great show that I'm more than willing to let it off the hook for these minor weaknesses in the plot. ;)

  • Bah, I meant to write "sound radiological alert" not ring it. Sorry, minor brain fart.

  • This isn't really foreshadowing her being a Cylon. This was just a general "ooh, she's evil" foreshadowing. Remember when it seemed like Ellen had all these evil plans and was going to do something terrible? Then they flipped her character by the end of Season Two and made her good. Ron Moore himself had admitted they had no idea who the Final Cylon would be until they started Season Four.

  • @eddiesocket lol, that seems very sloppy- i went through the series thinking they had everything planned out even from season 1.

  • I remember when Gaius DID test her if she was a cylon .

Wow first Boomer than this , the detector was soo useless.....

(Not including when Tyrol was "tested")

  • Boomer was revealed, and he didn´t want to tell Ellen´s Status... nice one^^ gaius always saves his own ass :D i like him so much

  • @Nephtys1

I assume the detector didn't work on the Final Five. Because Baltar would've known about Chief and Tigh, too. There's no way such high ranking officers wouldn't have been tested first.

  • @eddiesocket

baltar didnt make the tests. he stopped the work too soon. only kara, sharon, ellen and adama onscreen (as far as i remember)

but yeah, the final five seem to have different bodies. if i remember correctly Tyrol was on Ragnar and wasn´t feeling bad as leoben was

  • @Nephtys1

I'm glad you said that. It always irritated me that Baltar never told anyone about Chief and Tigh, even years later. I guess if he knew about Ellen, he wouldn't have much cared by the time the New Caprica storyline started up, plus for all he knew she was dead.

  • I remember wondering if Ellen Tighe was a cylon back in season 1 but only because I thought she looked like an older version of No. 6. I thought maybe she was thrown in there to 'seduce' the older men like Adama. I soon discarded that theory.

  • Whoa... that is nuts, never thought of that.

    Man such a great show!

  • I NEVER WATCHED T SHOW!

    but interesting!

can anyone tell me the whole plot?

  • Errm, no ... you'd have to watch it lest you want us to spoil it for you.

  • such a good scene. colonel tye!

  • It wasn't much of a surprise to me as it was confirmed in series 1 that she was one. Didn't understand what all the fuss was about.

  • @redplague

It was never confirmed. Ron Moore himself didn't know who the final Cylon was until Season Four.

  • What do you mean it was never confirmed? It was confirmed in series 1 with that machine.

  • @redplague

No it wasn't. Baltar told everyone the test was negative, then privately told the Angel Six that he would "never tell" what the results really were. We were never told she was a Cylon until Season 4.5

  • I don't have the DVD but I'm thought we saw a screen saying that the result was positive when she was being tested. I vaguely remember it and was the reason why I thought all along that Ellen was the final cylon.

  • @redplague

Do you really think that people speculated for years about the identity of the Final Cylon, and you , and you alone saw that the test was positive while every other viewer missed it?

  • I never looked or participated in any forums on the subject I only watched the programme so for me there was no speculation. Yes my memory of the series might not be correct but what is that it was said (in this video) that she was a Cylon.

  • this is how i knew that ellen was the final cylon before it was revealed. i was re-watching season one, and since six is clearly an omniscient being, everything she says is important.

  • I loved how six looked pissed as hell. God, she's so fucking hot...

  • An older and shorter version of Ellen, jeje, 6 is taller than Ellen!

  • my theory is that Ellen is an older version of number 6 that would explain why tight and caprica 6 have a connection

  • LOL...I thought the exact same thing. Ellen may just be an older number 6. Also, remember that Tigh kept having visions of Ellen made up as the 6 in captivity. You know, Ellens face but the 6's hair and dress. LOL

  • I was hoping admaril Cain would be the last Cylon

  • why the clue... "you have heared my voice countless time yet dont know who I am"?

  • Exactly!!! When Ellen was revealed it shocked me because she fits only one of the clues, i.e. the last supper picture. Ellen doesn't fit any of the other clues. She ain't a mother figure, unless you want your momma to be a drunk, plus she has no kids. We know her name and we always did from the start. That's why I'm starting to think that everyone is a cylon.

  • So baltar knew all along who was the final cylon because he tested ellen...

  • starbuck is a cylon? gimme a break!!

  • We still don't know how come she's found her own body though. Maybe she's a new cylon? Maybe someone created her?

  • Well, they did pluck a few organs of her in season one.

  • She found her own body because she died. The one who discovered it was an angel.

  • There wasn't anything about her being an angel there.

  • Where?

  • Honestly though Ellen Tigh is the final Cylon? Come on who cares about a minor character that we havn't seen for over a season being a cylon?

  • Nobody - biggest let down in BSG. So anti-climatic.

  • I have a suspicion that there may well still be a 13th Cylon. It would certainly match up the symmetry of the 13 colonies and the use of the number 13 in numerous episodes. And I still think it's Roslyn. Ellen is just to put people off the scent until the end.

  • Everyone's a cylon. The groundwork has already been laid for this possibility. Giaus only pretended to test the crew to see if they were a cylon. The opening of the first season was 'Some are programmed to think they are human.' -Duh, what if there are no humans. Throw in Kara's death and resurrection and yeah, I'm thinking that everyone is a cylon.

  • That's impossible because cylons made tests on bones from Earth and then found out that they were cylons. So cylons are able to differenciate humans and cylons.

  • The Cylons didn't test any of the 'humans' on board Galactica. This said, based on the last episode it's doubtful that everyone is a Cylon.

  • I always thought it was Starbuck's father as he was artistic and wrote the tune that awoke the Cylons.

  • i think they just did it cuz they really didnt want any of the others characters of importance to be cylons as well to make sure were wondering about kara cuz if elle wasnt revealed it would have made the suspcision high for kara to be the final cylon!! i do wonder what happened to her though i guess we'll find out soon enough

  • and like all cylon chicks she was a slut ^^, but on the other hand so is kara :P

  • haha, I remember that. Funny how this scene seems now. It doesn't mean they were hinting at her being a cylon. Tyrol had been locked up back in season 2 because Tigh believed he might be a cylon. That wasn't what the writers were trying to convey though. The audience was nudged into feeling sympathetic for him. Back then they were just hinting to the fact that Ellen was nothing but trouble. That was reinforced when she had President Roslin's would-be-assassin killed after he had been captured.

  • What is the point? RDM didn't plan out the identity of the final cylon before the season 4 himself!

(he says that in an interview)

  • Indeed he did. But at least he's staying true to the clues that he did INTENTIONALLY lay out. So whether or not he PLANNED on having those clues pay off in revealing Ellen as the 5th Cylon, the fact still remains... there were clues laid out :)

  • agreed. Like the ones where the chief is attracted towards the temple of five, the blood drops with number 8!

you make a valid point :)

  • If it's true that RDM didn't plan out the identity of the final cylon before the season 4, then RDM sounds like a bit of a hack.

  • RDM only decided with the writing team about Ellen toward the end of season three. He admitted it explicitly in a recent interview.

  • It does make sense though. Maybe Ellen and her husband built the first resurrection ship.

  • Really interested and well spotted episode. I had completely forgotten about this little moment, and the end of the particular episode where Baltar says he'll never tell...it just gets swept under the carpet...now on the other hand it opens up a whole load more questions, which Battlestar always successful manages to do, and most of the time gives answers. Now we need to solve the riddle of Kara Thrace.

  • Well I had a feeling Ellen Tigh was the final cylon for some reason when Doctor Baltar says I'll never tell about Ellen's test results I was thinking at the end of season 3 Ellen is the 5th cylon still dont know about Kira yet what the frack is she? God or the Devil?

  • You don't think that Ellen is an older version of Six do you? Just a thought.

  • Hmmm... that's a fascinating thought. But I don't know if it would make sense in the grand scheme of things. We'll find out.

  • I thought it was interesting that we've never seen a picture or anything of Ellen when she was younger. Tigh only met her a few years previously. Six and Ellen both have similar appetites for men. Theyre both drawn to powerful men (Tigh/Adama/Lee/Baltar/Zarek). They even look alike, to the point that Tigh got them confused.

    Time will tell I guess.

I was pretty shocked about the reveal to be honest. I always thought the 5th Cylon was Karas dad and she was a hybrid. Explained a lot.

  • @chrishartwe77 It could be so simple that Ellen created the Six as an image of herself, because she wanted. Hence the similarity. Sounds sensible!

  • very nice catch

  • HOLY FRAK!

That's cool, whether it was intentional or not (since it could have been meant for just that episode) ... it's interesting.

  • If you look at the end of this episode, they kinda even elude to it. Caprica Six asked Gaius, what her test war? And he says: I'll never tell.

  • Why would Baltar not out Ellen though? He got himself is so many jams, you'd think he would've sold out Ellen to save himself many a time. Anything to save himself.

  • Virtual-Six isn't someone you say no to. She didn't want him to say anything, so he didn't.
