Why are people calling the Eclipse sucky? Maybe the drivers, yeah. But Even the old 94' model of this car can beat a stock Viper. It's on youtube. beat it by a car length. Don't allow yourself to believe the typical stereotypes. For 2.5 years i drove a WRX with 385awhp and 366awtq and was a low12 high 11 car. All of that but average of 18 mpg. I just traded up for a 99 Vette with just about 425 rwhp and it could outrun the WRX easily, yet it averages 26 MPG and on the highway ive seen 31 (long trip). Dont think that just cause something is fast and has a big engine that it has to use more gas!

In all honesty, if I had to pick an import to build a race car out of, it'd be a 1G or 2G Eclipse GSX/Talon Tsi. They're usually pretty cheap, and good parts are readily available. They may not be the most reliable thing in the world, but around my neck of the woods, there are quite a few GSX/Tsi guys who drive them to the track and go single digits or 10s.
