English O is so much better detailed than American (with the exclusion of Atlas 2 rail) and now that MTH is coming around with European models it is a bit of a kick in the pants for the American modelers because while they are left with HUGE couplers and less than realistic chassis, the European modelers will have a field day with the great quality of MTH British and German equipment
@Amtrak1194, erm, Atlas is american and MTH do awful models, the reason british O is better than american is it is finescale, alot of it is kitbuilt but there are some decent ready to run manufacturers, such as Sancheng Brass/Tower Brass and Heljan.
I am in North Central Florida on five acres and I am thinking of putting an O outside myself; but I am stuck on the best way to situate the tracks. How do you all choose to set up your right of way? Is it an elevated and uses a cement form? And how do you attach the tracks to it - with wooden stringers place down the middle of the right of way? Thanks for any help or suggestions you might give me!
ya and very stong, bu they have made some nice things lately like a sante fee passenger car for $44 each but i cant relie on them older trains are the best around like a old alco erie
I have never heard it called that before, it's normally referred to as just "O gauge" and in scale terms is exactly double the size of "HO" which literally means "Half O".
The guy who owns the 4F does tend to go over the top on weathering, also the guy who built the manor seen at 3:14 and 2:18 went over the top too, having been asked to weather a realistic amount to suggest the loco had been out of Swindon works a week, well as you can see it must have been an intense week!
what make are those trains. they are very good. i'm considering 0 gauge myself and need some nice English locos

2:12 to 2:30 was a little disorientating for me because it seems so real xD

I love O gauge's realism.
If I win the lottery I'll definitely make a large O gauge layout. xD

The overdubbing of "real train" sounds to this clip has been very effective

I'm sure the loco builders would be flattered to know you think that, d/w I know for certain it's 0 gauge.
pedanticmongrel 3 years ago
I am an O Gauge modeler but, the detail on some of these models and your camera angles just make it look so real, great video 5 stars.

shadowrivals 3 years ago
are you sure? you know G scale is narrow gauge on gauge 1 track, anyways I know it's O because I filmed it.
pedanticmongrel 3 years ago
Sorry about that. I didn't know. Keep up the great work! This might sound stupid but do you have the O Gauge Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends?
