If a person has an overclocked processor and video card, things like this can happen. I've been told on multiple occasions that I run through walls, and start fights earlier than my party members despite being behind them.
Everything on my side of the screen is normal though. FFXIV doesn't have processor caps like XI did, so some people are "on a different page" when it comes to character positions and such.
