because you use black batteries for Black motor engines, i.e. Thomas and re-chargable batteries on white motor engines. I expect that your'e using the wrong batteries for the white motr ones as they already make the whining noise

I like the hornby model of Henry, some people have said it looks weird but I think they just wanted him to look like what he does in the books. Look at the front cover to "Henry the Green Engine" and you'll see what I mean.
