Ms Franklin singing was on point but my issue was that she didn't perform most of her hit songs such as Respect. How are you going to perform and not sing Respect, Chain of fools, Natural Woman or other songs that made you famous. She performed some songs, I aint never heard of. She didn't perform long at all in my opinion. She did receive standing ovations but people were talking about the song selections after the show. She was also late coming onto the stage.
Amazing to see her at 68 in such fine form--I never knew she could play the piano so well either. Such a shame to think that her age & appearance would be dealbreakers in today's music industry: I can't think of any female R&B artist working today who has this much real talent. It's a pop star's world now, and Aretha's lucky (so are we) that she got her break during a time when real talent, not cookie-cutter pop conformity, were the measure of success.
@orahone Yes, she was really on that night. She was getting standing ovations for almost every song. The crowd was wild and she was feeding off the energy.
I was at this concert and it was simply spectacular. It was very hot and muggy but Aretha still gave an awesome show. She was really in great form that night. I haven't heard her sing this song live in a long time. She even mentioned that she can't believe she is doing this song tonight. Her confidence is really gaining in the last few months. The crowd was really into her and she gave like 3 encores. She didn't want to leave/
This concert was so good yall I couldn't record to much because I was so into it. I love this woman!! The only thing there were no backup singers this time but Aretha was on point. hope she well and recovered by oct. so I can check her out in atlantic city.
