The A & E version with COlin Firth was 6 hrs long and the script was verbatum from the novel...which we all know was originally titled " First Impressions" this movie version eliminated characters and took the highlights of the story...I refer to it as the cliff noted version...I did adore the acting and the inaccurate mannerisms and dresscodes of this version.

Yes yes, veryval, don't get me wrong, this really is a wonderful movie, executed beautifully, and the romance is very touching. I cry of happiness when watch it! But when you start study he book specifically (and I don't mean just the details), the true message is somehow missing from this movie. For example this movie gives the impression that it was love at first sight, which it wasn't. But enough about that, I still think this is one of my favorite movies.

Well, it may not have been for Elizabeth, but Mr. Darcy readily admits to having affections for Elizabeth soon after meeting. I suppose in one way or another that can be seen as love at first sight. In the book, Mr. Darcy seems rather smitten very soon.

Of course, the romance has been dramaticized from the book to the movie because of time differences. What we consider romantic now if different than what they considered romantic.

Pride and prejudice is one of my favorite books! I adore the tv-miniseries that was made in the 90s. I love this movie too, visually it's perhaps the most beautiful movie ever made. But I still seem to think that in the describing of the book and capturing the deepest message of the book, this movie just didn't succeed as well as the tv-series. The image of it and the whole structure of it is a bit too modern.
