  • Bev Shean steals the show - she is fantastic. One of the best Katishas I have ever seen. This production is such a mixed bag though. "For he's going to marry Yum-Yum" was ruined. Why was it necessary to replace Pitti-Sing and Peep-Bo with this trio, and where is the women's chorus - not to mention the lack of Pish-Tush. If they had left the basic script alone this was have been stunning evening with the reorchestration.

  • It was the mid nineties. Crappy instruments is what they did best ^_^

  • Please....no....

  • Anyone know if they are going to put out a dvd of the 2008 version of the EssGee mikado they did this summer?

  • Haha!

    My favorite song, nicely done!

Though I'd rather it was just Pitti-Sing, instead of the trio singing that part.

    Still, I love it!

    Katisha's parts are so... melodramatic!

  • if only they made a cd version of this. i have the penzance, but wish they had a full mikado cd.

  • Lavish production, costumes, set, voices, performance, direction. I can't understand why you had a synthesiser instead of a proper orchestra to complement the it!

  • Because they were doing a pop adaptation. An orchestra just wouldn't have made sense. I am a bit surprised they didn't use guitars, though.

  • Bev Shean does a FANTASTIC job with this song! This is my favorite song from the opera, wonderfully done.

  • Great just great!

  • This company did "Mikado," "Pirates," and "Pinafore," and in all three productions substituted the women's chorus (General Stanley's daughters, eg) with a doo-wop girl-group trio, and adapted lyrics as necessary. So there are actuallly "four little maids" here. They also eliminated Pish-Tush and split his lines/songs between Pooh-Bah and the girl group.

  • wow thats rather cool all the songs are as i know it but who is the other little maid if there is yum-yum, Pitti-sing and peepbo ..?

  • They made up another name for the extra maid so there was Pitti-Sing, Peep-Bo and Yo-Ko listed along with Yum-Yum in the programme.

    sudanim's got it right :)

  • ow i see! lol i had no idea is it an austrailian version?

its awsum but i still prefer the origional lol i would get to confused! =]

  • always found yo-ko to be funny. like yoko uno or however you spell her name, i cant seem to remeber.

  • the show was recorded in "New Zealand" at the start of its tour run of "Australia" and "New Zealand" it is avaiable from essgee web site on dvd

  • Great Production. Where was it held?

  • Absolutely Brilliant....Love Katisha Looks real evil Reminds me of the sea witch!

  • Kreator01: Which "sea witch" are [were] you thinking of?

  • Disneys Little mermaid!
