Seagal isn't an MMA fighter. Take out the rules of the UFC and give Seagal about 15 yrs back and yeah, he'd be able to hold his own against Randy. Beat him? IDK, but he'd hurt Randy. Their strikes come from a combination of Muy Thai and boxing. Their grappling is primarily juijitsu and judo based with some minor variations on greco-roman stuff. MMA fans never cease to amaze me... Seagal is almost 60 years old now, and endured brutal training in Japan. They don't just hand out dan ranks in Japan to any westerner in those days... Aikido originated from juijitsu schools from feudal Japan in a time when you would get killed just for walking on the wrong side of a samurai passing by you. The same moves these MMA guys use today came from the same roots that also formed Aikido. Yet they want to bash it any chance they get. Sad IMO...

Everyone should realize that no martial arts style is better than the other, it all depends on the person & MMA clearly demonstrates this, u see a lot of MMA fighters that mostly train in BJJ & muay thai but they lose to another guy with the same style, does that make it clear now? i hate people who always say BJJ is superior or muay thai is the shit, they make it sound like its an invincible art when the fact of the matter is it all comes down to the person.

As far as K-1 there are no K-1 fighters that owned K-1 then came & dominated UFC recently either, that I know of? @0713mas No but training your bone in your hand to the point of being able to hit steal at about 50% more then just few times without fealing it or chance breaking it,is another way to create heavy hands, and nobodies face compares to the wieght of steel so when you do train like that u dont even have to hit somebody that hard for them to feal it. But we've had few people come out of k1 and have a pretty good mma career. But the only sport it seems mma fighters can go into and fight on par is wrestling,juijitsu,greco. but when it comes to muay thai,kickboxing,taekwando,boxing they would almost always lose.

Seagal isn't an MMA fighter. Take out the rules of the UFC and give Seagal about 15 yrs back and yeah, he'd be able to hold his own against Randy. Beat him? IDK, but he'd hurt Randy. Seagal is fast as all Hell even now and even though Aikido is a defensive martial art there are many many many ways to hurt an offensive opponent. If Couture laid back and played defensively and Seagal was silly enough to go on the offensive it'd be no contest, but that isn't how a fight would go between the two.

Seagle back in the day was a real bad ass he is a 7th dgree black belt. He trained in a hard form of Aikido not some pussy form like Ki-aikido and could beat Couture if they were aloud to fight without gloves and aloud to use small joint lock which you are not aloud to do in the UFC

MMA fans never cease to amaze me... Seagal is almost 60 years old now, and endured brutal training in Japan. They don't just hand out dan ranks in Japan to any westerner in those days... Aikido originated from juijitsu schools from feudal Japan in a time when you would get killed just for walking on the wrong side of a samurai passing by you. The same moves these MMA guys use today came from the same roots that also formed Aikido. Yet they want to bash it any chance they get. Sad IMO...

Everyone should realize that no martial arts style is better than the other, it all depends on the person & MMA clearly demonstrates this, u see a lot of MMA fighters that mostly train in BJJ & muay thai but they lose to another guy with the same style, does that make it clear now? i hate people who always say BJJ is superior or muay thai is the shit, they make it sound like its an invincible art when the fact of the matter is it all comes down to the person.

Your mentality that Randy has been trained NOT to do those things so he won't is wrong. It's not like he would say "Oh no, a knee to the groin is illegal in the Octagon, I can't use that in this alley." Randy trains, eats right, and has recorded KO's and subs. He'd take Seagal down, mount, and rain elbows or pass to the left side and apply a choke. The end.

@iJasonUr so your saying a armbar doesnt work if resisted? alot these simple sub techniques are practiced in aikido. how can your wrist resist the force of 2 arms/shoulder and gravity twisting down on it, it cant thats why people fall and break their wrist all the time.now i agree they can be resisted if u react fast enough befor the proper pressure is applied just like any submission. Also the choreograph is just way to over exagerated,they should just do it proper and not use full pressure

Black belts,dans make you perfectionist in that art, not a fighter. your giving seagal to much credit his cardio would be done long befor that. some Aikido moves do work in the mma its just some would be on the brink of being illegal since youd need to hook into the glove.

As far as K-1 there are no K-1 fighters that owned K-1 then came & dominated UFC recently either, that I know of? I'm a big fan of K-1 also, wish UFC would steal Iron Mike Zambitis love watching that guy fight!!! Apples & oranges I like them both, just not a fan of chest protectors & point sparring matches or coregraphed demonstrations giving people a false sense of security take their money & waste their time.

@0713mas No but training your bone in your hand to the point of being able to hit steal at about 50% more then just few times without fealing it or chance breaking it,is another way to create heavy hands, and nobodies face compares to the wieght of steel so when you do train like that u dont even have to hit somebody that hard for them to feal it. You can turn your bone to near steel like becouse the holes in the bone fill.

@0713mas Well we've only see 1 person come into k1 from mma and do alright he still got knocked out once but he also beat some the better ones in k1. But we've had few people come out of k1 and have a pretty good mma career. But the only sport it seems mma fighters can go into and fight on par is wrestling,juijitsu,greco. but when it comes to muay thai,kickboxing,taekwando,boxing they would almost always lose.
further away u get from the sport the more injuries risked.

@girtrute My point is MMA's high percentage fundamental (not basic) delivery systems stand up, clinch & ground can be practiced at full speed with little gear. Foul tactics can't be trained realistically so they are lower percentage. The idea of advanced techniques is a myth there is only advanced practitioners who are able to use there speed power timing conditioning & aggression to apply techniques from advantages positions
