the second man who's reloading is the legendary firearm designer "Tony Neophytou" the one who designed this gun and many other cool weapons, hats off to you sir even when he's reloading he's badass!
@Kosh800 Meh. I think it'd have to be some sort of HE round. A 20mm piece of lead would take a chopper or jet out easily if it hit it right, but add some phosphorus and explosives to the core? :D
This gun is useless against modern MBT armor. But very effective against light armored vehicle such as Stryker. It can penetrate the armor and kill any soldiers or crews inside that vehicle.
@TYARKugl I'm talking about modern Main Batte Tank Armor such as M1A2 Abrams. What kind of armor that you talk? If you talk about body armor, then no doubt this gun can penetrate it easily.
Today you will be learning how to give away your position but who really gives a fuck send a few down range lets see what this bad muthafucker can do to that tank
holy fuck that'd be LOUD indoors. I mean like a small grenade going off. I don't think I'd want to be inside that room LOL
Its a good demonstration though, since it takes a 2 man team to pack it, when workig together the increased firing rate would be a nightmare for the enemy, yet bolt action accuracy. It would anti-material the shit out of everything.
yep thats right. Sometimes a two man op, but generally was a solo effort. Thats why it got the name "Charlie The Bastard", its a heavy critter at 19kg loaded, but if you are reasonably large framed like myself, its not so bad. Ive lugged mine, with a can of ammo, over 2kms to my range(for errm..fun). and to be honest it wasnt to bad. mono-tray extended laying down the back, over the shoulder.
This NTW is my dream rifle....or an anzio 20mm, or even a Solothurn or Lahti. the list goes on
My .55 (15mm) spits out 805 grain solidcoppers at 2980. Will hole anything with the right projectile. And it's got a 5 round clip. 1 man operation and transport. I'd still sell my left nut to buy one of these jobs though 2 man crew is cool, cooler than a solurthurn or Lahti, but not by much coolness...
@shotfirer1972 Is that the 14.5 x 114? I've never heard of any rifle that used that to be truly one man. Then again I don't know about very much past .50 bmg.
Still, the NTW here is "one man" in the sense its operated by one person. It's just that in this video someone else is loading them quickly and they aren't using the magazine. The only two man portion to this rifle is that it weighs 120+ lbs and breaks down into two backpacks.
@Stizogm Well, they make barrels for this rifle chambered in 12.7x99mm NATO (.50 BMG), 12.7x108 Warsaw, 14.5x114mm, 20x82mm and 20x110mm high explosive.
the 14.5mm cal is just WIN! headshot at 2.5kilometers... and if you don't hit the person, the shrapnel from the bullet hitting the floor near him will... and probably kill the person...
Would be fun to see someone in a Master Chief costume jump around with that thing, turning 180 degrees and no-scoping another guy in an Elite suit and screaming BOOM HEADSHOT. No, that would actually be rediculous. How the hell would you call this thing a sniper? I think OHOAMG would be more appropriate. Wonder what OHOAMG stand for? Shouldn't be to hard, right? Just figure it out yourself. What the hell my comment is strange.
.50BMG is a 12.7mmx99mm and a .5o russian is a 12.7x108mm these two have almost the same nergy. thats a fact
.50BMG: 20 000J
20x82mm: 28 500J
14.5mmx114mm: 32 675J
20x110mm: 37 000J
The range depends on the weapon used normally from shortest range to farest range its. 20x82mm, .50(2), 20x110mm and the best range is for the 14.5mmx114mm
You can't have the best of all worlds without huge losses and by looking at the size and weight of this weapon it has lost allot of it's functionality tactically. It's good for 20mm that's about it, and as a 2 man tactical weapon i don't think so because it just weighs too much on foot and the fact you have to split it on carry. Id mount it on a small transport like the russian Ural side car bike. That way at least you'd be able to bring enough ammo, extra barrels and get out quick.
@39483294jdw0 Enter the Truvelo 20x110mm Anti-Material Rifle, another South African first. It's the first rifle to use the Hispano rounds. More portable.
@39483294jdw0 This isn't a conventional sniper's rifle. This is an anti-mterial rifle, they fire those rounds at radar dishes, parked aircraft and vehicles, and very rarely personnel. It's more of a indirect weapon, you'd most likely never see one being carried into combat.
I got to fire one of these at the Kentucky Gun Show at Knob Creek, the recoil is actually not that bad compared to other rifles, because the stock absorbs the recoil extremely well.
this gun can use one of the rounds to tighten and loosten the barrel for configuration swap. thats so awesome. its too bad this gun isnt in military use anymore.
@Roflzmahwoflz it was way too heavy and put soldiers lives in danger when trying to get out quick. it needs to be broken down into two halves and put into two backpacks, one with the barrel and ammo and the other with the rest of the gun. it could only engage a small area due to its large size and inability to maneuver, so it would have to be pointed at the place where the target is likely to be ahead of time. amazing gun with amazing range and massive firepower, but mobility was the killer.
the NTW has 3 configurations: 20mmx82mm 28 500J 14.5mmx114mm 30 675J 20mmx110mm 37 000J no .50bmg for this rifle! not enough powerful. .50 bmg only 21 000J
@jeuxpclol101 agreed, this gun is probably the most versitile super rifle in the world, it fires the biggest commercially legal bullet in the world, the 20mm, which you can get practice rounds for for less than $5.00 each
@RIOT690 Is it really a 20mm? Is it not a 12.7mm (50 cal.)? As read on Wiki the Black Hawks use 2 M240Hs, 2 M134 Miniguns 7.62mm and two Gau 19 50cals.
Maybe that one had a 20mm. I guess not all of them have the same gun configuration.
Anti material rifle, aka, when you see an apc or tank with two eyes peeking out at you though the gun or sight ports, thats where you put your cross hairs and they go bye bye. Transport truck and car engines don't like this round very much either.
Its an anti-vehicle rifle that can be configured to fire 3 different types of ammo. (12.7 mm or 50BMG, 14.5 mm Russian machine gun round and 20mm anti tank) He was firing the 20 mm version.
No it's not, the Halo sniper rifle was based on this. It was adopted by the South African Defence Force in 1998, three years before Halo was released, and prototypes had been around since the early 90s.
this is the actual most powerful manportable sniper rifle in the world it can fire the huge 20x110mm hispano round capable of delivering armour peirceing explosive warheads at ranges of 1500m for spot targets and above 2000m for area targets btw i know it also fires the 14.5 x 114 mm round which just happens to have even further ranges and has been tested to be accurate out to over 2600m
@manypersons that's right. Lahti L-39 was an anti-materiel rifle, designed to punch through bunkers and tanks, to kill personnel inside. It was, however, used as a sniper rifle against high-priority targets and as a somewhat effective counter-sniper weapon.
@poobert it depends on what round you use the 14.5x114 mm round in armour peiceing round is the best and can go through up to depending on range up to 4inch of steel
Technically, the U.S. forces are not allowed the use of a .50 or other heavy machine gun against people. But in a pinch, no one will make a fuss about doing so. The point of this is that while one does what one must to defeat an enemy, one must not go out of his way to inflict undue harm on said enemy. (this does not account for artillery, which certainly does cause undue injury.) It is also the reason that full metal jacket ammo is the only approved munition for combat. Rules are such fun...
St Petersburg declaration, 1868, to which the United States, along with most remaining countries on earth, was NOT signatory. With the Raufoss round, which is explosive, there is some debate over whether or not it is St Petersburg compliant. General consensus is that it IS. Combined with the Hague conventions, this is why we use FMJ.
And it is NOTHING to do with not causing undue harm. It just lost meaning as weapons changed. .50 is legal for AP.
.50 is leagal for A.P. (since most all of the ammo is A.P. as supplied.) never said it wasnt. FMJ is standard issue whether A.P. or not. And yes The U.S. uses it because it is more humane than other types of bullets.
@beardo52 Actually they use it because it is cheap, reliable, and has been established and combat-proven for almost 90 years. Humane or inhumane has very little to do with anything in combat.
And you DID say it wasnt; "Technically, the U.S. forces are not allowed the use of a .50 or other heavy machine gun against people"
But whatever. neither of us are here for an argument.
@Ottawagunner yeah they used this as a template for the halo sniper. The difference was the magazine loads underneath, and was also semi-auto not bolt action like the real one
The game designers made the gun look like the Denel NTW-20, so your statement is wrong, the Halo sniper rifle looks like this one, not the other way around.
I fired this one. It kicked my back like a boss.

are you being serious? i really hope your just trying to be funny
eryman17 2 years ago
No it's not, the Halo sniper rifle was based on this. It was adopted by the South African Defence Force in 1998, three years before Halo was released, and prototypes had been around since the early 90s.

looks like the halo sniper :D
tittydonut123 2 years ago
this is the actual most powerful manportable sniper rifle in the world it can fire the huge 20x110mm hispano round capable of delivering armour peirceing explosive warheads at ranges of 1500m for spot targets and above 2000m for area targets btw i know it also fires the 14.5 x 114 mm round which just happens to have even further ranges and has been tested to be accurate out to over 2600m
manypersons 2 years ago
and you can't call the Lahti L-39 a sniper rifle because it has no sniper scope and is never intened to be shot at infantry on armoured vehicals
manypersons 2 years ago
@manypersons that's right. Lahti L-39 was an anti-materiel rifle, designed to punch through bunkers and tanks, to kill personnel inside. It was, however, used as a sniper rifle against high-priority targets and as a somewhat effective counter-sniper weapon.
XIIIphobos 2 years ago
@manypersons
What is it's penetration at max range?
poobert 2 years ago
@poobert it depends on what round you use the 14.5x114 mm round in armour peiceing round is the best and can go through up to depending on range up to 4inch of steel
manypersons 2 years ago
Thats Halo for you :d

Technically, the U.S. forces are not allowed the use of a .50 or other heavy machine gun against people. But in a pinch, no one will make a fuss about doing so. The point of this is that while one does what one must to defeat an enemy, one must not go out of his way to inflict undue harm on said enemy. (this does not account for artillery, which certainly does cause undue injury.) It is also the reason that full metal jacket ammo is the only approved munition for combat. Rules are such fun...
beardo52 2 years ago
they're allowed to if they have to but not just for fun
TheRandomnessofAandP 2 years ago
@beardo52 incorrect for so many reasons... sigh
MrGospelMan 2 years ago
.50 is leagal for A.P. (since most all of the ammo is A.P. as supplied.) never said it wasnt. FMJ is standard issue whether A.P. or not. And yes The U.S. uses it because it is more humane than other types of bullets.
beardo52 2 years ago
@beardo52 Actually they use it because it is cheap, reliable, and has been established and combat-proven for almost 90 years. Humane or inhumane has very little to do with anything in combat.
And you DID say it wasnt; "Technically, the U.S. forces are not allowed the use of a .50 or other heavy machine gun against people"
But whatever. neither of us are here for an argument.
MrGospelMan 2 years ago
It should be legal because artillery rounds are much bigger.

is it just me or does halo sniper look like the this gun??
It was made in 1998 so it came first
Ottawagunner 2 years ago 5
im saying this is probally where they got the idea
xBADxB4NDITOx 2 years ago
HELL YEAH
Ottawagunner 2 years ago
@Ottawagunner yeah they used this as a template for the halo sniper. The difference was the magazine loads underneath, and was also semi-auto not bolt action like the real one
simonmitchellbird 1 year ago
@Ottawagunner yep, the idea struck me just before halo was released. and actually it is too similar to be just a coincidence
AlexanderBathory17 1 year ago
@Ottawagunner The Halo Sniper was modeled after the Denel NTW-20. When you wiki around a little, you should find more about this.
nst6ldr 1 year ago
The game designers made the gun look like the Denel NTW-20, so your statement is wrong, the Halo sniper rifle looks like this one, not the other way around.
nst6ldr 2 years ago
thats what i meant i sait it looks like it not that it copied halo
xBADxB4NDITOx 2 years ago
The Halo sniper was indeed based off this rifle.
