But the fact is that Morello is an innovator compared to the rest of the crowd.... Maybe what he does on the guitar isn't technically speaking all that difficult, but he was the first to do that kind of stuff on guitar. Innovation.

Whats cool about Deftones is they didn't ride Korn's coattails to success at all. They carved out their own niche, yet still remained frineds with Korn.

They became commercially succesful on their own merits. Not like a lot of other Korn wannabe bands.
