It's nice to see classical musicians not take themselves so seriously every once in a while. And as you can see from the video quality, it has been a WHILE.
Surely one of the most gifted comedians of his or any other era - Rest in peace, Maestro Borge - you have been an inspiration to me and my entire family!
can someone tell me what Borge answer when the guy with the viola says "Bach"? because I am learning english and some parts are difficult to understand
A person who likes classical music is referred to as a long hair. The joke about a bald headed long hair goes back far beyond Victor Borge. It's got nothing to do with dogs.
one of my faves... the greatest dane known to the world... i think it is sad he had too leave Denmark, but knowning that he may have been killed had he stayed, i appreaciate his flee to the states...
Because he was poking fun at Nazi Germany in the earliest part of his career and it got him on a Nazi blacklist. Victor ended up fleeing on the last ship that was able to leave Europe for the United States before our entry into World War II.
This reminds me so much of Leo Bernstein's collection of Young People's Concerts (1958-1973), which is very serious (but also very good). Since this clip of Borge must be from the early 50's, his parody precedes it's soon to become serious counterpart!! It does make me wonder whether Bernstein was inspired by this interaction between Borge, the orchestra and the audience!?!

@choirfreak26 If you can't come up with a generic comment about the dislikes then you're an even bigger cocksucker than Victor Borge.

He says "ah, you are the long-haired type?" because the viola player doesn't have any hair. Hope that helps. :)
