Keep at it m8,my callsign is VO1MDS,it took me 5 years to learn it,BUT i never gave up,it takes awhile, but keep with it,a little at a time. I use CW sometimes when i have the nerve to grab that key..lol
practice the letter "A" di dah B Dah dit dit dit c dah di dah dit d dah dit dit e dit so dah dit dah dit ,dah dah dit dah is the letter c and q which means cq when you practice it say the word dah, like dah ,not dash and pronounce this like your verbally hitting a drum and when you see a stop sign say the letters out loud in morse code. dit dit dit(S) Dah (T) Dah Dah Dah(O) Dit Dah Dah Dit (P) say all those dits and dahs out loud and say it just like your talking just like that.
You can download software to decode CW and then plug in a cable from the headphone jack from your recever to your computers audio in jack. Do a google search for CW decoder software. But it is best if you learn how to decode it in your head.
Find your self a Tape on learning CW.. Learn the 'Sounds' not the # of Dits and Dahs.. after.. it becomes almost a 2nd language.. As you were talking, the CW in the background.. was 'CQ CQ CQ DE AE4GM AE4GM K'.. who is in Fredericksburg, VA ! Just takes Lots of Practice.. and don't get discouraged! Look forward to hearing you on the Air Soon as a Ham.. Good Luck and Practice, Practice, Practice!

Hi
Those CW signals that you can hear are generated by a keyer and are too fast to learn by.
A Dahh is exactly the same as a Dit, but it is three times as long.
To learn CW properly you can't write down the Dits and Dahhs and paper and then decode it.
You have to be able to see the letters and words form in your head by listening to the sound, NOT by visualizing the dot-dash patterns.
Do a search on the net for 'The Koch method'.
It is one of the best ways to learn CW.
