@guzmanpiano69 we never did all that dumb stuff, well at least I didn't, and if you wouldn't cheer because you won 1st ever state championships, then maybe you don't have love for your school, the arts, maybe even your peers around you, all that hard work out of love for those 3 things is what made that moment so great for us

Overreaction to winning? It wasn't like a 30 minute party erupted in the stands, These kids were recognized for hard work. Even if the scores were 1/10 of a point apart, they were still the scores and there was still a winner. Not every state has always operated in a scoring system that held competitions and championships versus festivals and the State festival. AZ has openned that door and you always have the option of performing the way you want.

When did it stop being ok to celebrate a job well done and winning? I could understand saying something about cheering for not being 3rd place or something like that, but if you win, you should have some pride and cheer.

@gonatego2 @daveyjones03 @werephantomsin15 I'm pretty sure if you didn't have the best season the year before, the band didn't like the season, and when you go into the first ever state championships with great staff, a drill instructor from SCV '89 who knew his shit when it came to marching, an awesome show, and a band hungry to kick some ass, you would flip out too if you would have won... But you didn't...

@ArakTheHorse really because i didn't flip out when Mesa High won the DIV 3 state championships. Also you had it all going for you guys you like you said you had a drill instructor from SCV a show that pretty much was all general effect and really loud. I also bet you had the funds to back it up and the players. We had none of those things. So please dont say that they would have reacted that way when we didnt. We always stood at parade rest or attention we clapped but not for ourselves.

@ArakTheHorse we never did all the dumb stuf bands do like the wave or run to get your bands name thingy. When youre in uniform you are there to perform not to lollygag and play grabass. So get your shit straight, because we were State champions before you, and we did not "flip out" when we won, we stayed at parade rest which you guys were not doing. Way to not respect the activity you and others do by not standing.

Wow, schools place now? I remember marching for Highland back in the late 90's when it was "friendly competition". I agree with @gonatego2, we were not supposed to scream and holler, we were taught to remain poised... but that did not always happen. I remember rushing the field once in California (I didn't, but most of the band did).

I actually dont like this. I marched under Eric Heanfler for 3 years, and we were always taught to act with poise. Never ever over react to winning. Unprofessional
