I second that completely, mthivier. A lifelong fan, I was profoundly impressed and moved by her endorsement and continuous support of Obama. I even got a chance to speak with her about it. And the wishes she sent back to our volunteers and staff have spread to reinforce and inspire thousands more. She faced down rifles as a 21 year old - when MLK couldn't be there, she'd stand in. Joan Baez *IS* Amazing Grace.
Joan Baez posseses a unique ability to make all things right with this God-forsaken universe, at least for the duration of a three-minute song...many of Obama's younger supporters who aren't familiar with her may not realize but, though she was one of the most tireless campigners of the '60s and '70s, she has NEVER publically endorsed a major party politician, must less a candidate for President-- Obama is the first. That's a pretty damned impressive endorsement if you ask me!
Thanks for writing what you did. I've been a Baez fan for over 20 years, but was disappointed to see her support Obama. It comes as a big surprise, especially when you realize that Obama supports the New World Order, the same as Bush and his Dad. Every 4 years they pull the wool over our eyes, as we are THE SHEEP. I hope you will take some time to watch The Obama Deception and The Zeitgeist Movie
I know she claims BHO is the first, but she did endorse her X husband in his failed bid for the US House of Reps and she, for all practical purposes, endorsed Carter over Reagan too. She gave a "Carter's so much better than Reagan" speech at all of her appearances during that contest.
