747SP is the ugliest thing, it looks NOTHING like a real 747 ... I am used to seeing these sons of bitches up close ... once you get used to the "rare factor" ... I tells you, they look like under developed mutant aircraft .... Iran Air was one of the companies that specifically wanted this plane built.
Note: at present ownership of the Airport from Los Angeles World Airport to the City of Ontario is being fought over, as the City of Ontario is alleging mismanagement and Los Angeles World countering these allegations. Should Ontario city win, it would undertake measures to make the airport less expensive to passengers and lure back low-cost carriers.
@kyoshero3000 That's because according to the FAA N Number database, it's a Canadair CL-600, which almost began life as the LearStar 600, until Canadair bought the rights from Bill Lear :-)
Jon - keep your eye open during the time of the Haj (Mecca Pilgramage) for "another SP". Saudi also flies their 74SP to LAX to pick up friends and Royal and fly them to Mecca. They are rare indeed (only 16 left) but they do come to LAX.
Too bad you dont have any video of the old Pan Am 74SP's leaving LAX for Sydney or Kai Tak... :o(
All jon5700 fans; I would just like to let you all know that i go to different airports every weekend, so i'll have plenty of aviation footage every week. Im also currently in creation of making a FSX movie, which will be starting in two weeks time. Dont miss it, and please subscribe, i may subscribe back if your channel is good!
Yeah that must be the A9C-HAK The owner of this plane is the King of Bahrain..i changed a body gear brake on this plane ;) And it's big sister is the A9C-HMK It's a 747-400. Also a really nice plane. They are completly different from the inside and..psssst.. the A9C-HMK got golden thrust levers ;) Nice Video man
Of course, this CRJ must have come from another subsidiary since it's SW, it must have been part of SkyWest, because my dad says most Comair CRJ's they have gotten, end in CA for the tail numbers.
Unless you actually look up the tail number for the CRJ, you'd never know if it was a 100 or a 200, since the 200 is identical to the 100, except for more efficient engines, it's hard to tell, but it's part of Comair.
My dad is a mechanic for the Atlantic Southeast Delta Connection.
@flytheairbusa380 747 Special Performance. It is a a section shorter than a regular 747. It was built that way for greater range and speed. All the while it had the same fuel capacity as a 747-200, and similar P&W JT9 turbofans. It never really took off in popularity due to the release of the 747-400. Hope that answers your question.
i feel the same way John i live right next to Burbank airport and i go sit and wach planes all day its amazing and i love your videos keep it up! and one day you will see me flying.
Ah....What airport do you do this from? You get absolutely wonderful air traffic. Here in San Antonio, we have MD-80s, 737s, and A320s. Rarely anything else.
@9T6Q the 747SP is no longer used in commercial service, but it's still in use with various governments & private owners. This particular one is used by the UAE (United Arab Emirates) & it's in Kentucky for the World Equestrian Games in Lexington...I saw this very plane parked at Lexington-Blue Grass Airport two weeks ago when they had the fall race horse sales at Keeneland Race Track. During the Kentucky Derby, they frequently use Blue Grass Airport because Louisville is way crowded.
I remember flying in this CRJ-100, also with Delta in a flight from NY to Kansas City, MO. I remember the weather was very bad and the pilot advised us that we will pass through turbulences continuously and will try to avoid the storm ahead. It was amazing. I was sitting down in the back, just beside the engines and could feel the plane going up and down, and I also could hear the pilot speeding up and slowing down the engines, from 0 to 100%.
I was sitting down in the back, just beside the engines and could feel the plane going up and down, and I also could hear the pilot speeding up and slowing down the engines, from 0 to 100%. Big and fast turns to right and left were also part of this amazing flight. One of the more WOoooow (with a big smile) flights that I have had. Nice souvenir man, thanks for this video.
