does the americans remember who helped them with independance france and even Hati i bet nobady know one knew tht but anyway ppl help ppl don't use it as a weapon later we know the US helped with the liberation in Europe but don't use it as a manipulation tool later on don't use the blood of human beings as a weapon
The french were smart enough not to follow the U.S.A into a foolish war that was based on a lie. Look at what happened. The french made a good move there.
@etetepete Because TV wants to brainwash (you know it). Think about all the lonely persons who sit in front of their TV after work, the TV is for them a presence, something reassuring, so TV programs mustn't be too clever... Everything is based on feelings, people vote for the most flattering and charismatic person, not for the most intelligent. And the stupid thing is that the president himself has NO power... So all of this is a comedy for money.
The invasion of Iraq was not a victory. The American government should compensate Iraqi citizens for going into Iraq due to bogus CIA reports. Now all that remains there are gravestones, a pulverized infrastructure and great political instability that has set the Iraqi people back generations. What is the US doing to rebuild the infrastructure of Iraq? Talk is cheap, Obama, show the Iraqis the money .
what a preposterous interview, C. Amanpour lost neutrality here and therefore my respect. she was clearly biased and tried to make Chirac look guilty . (Americans feel betrayed by france. O' Chirac. Freedom fries) what an absard interview. but luckily as it turned out chirac was right, and all most all Americans were as pig-headed as C.Amanpour.
The Americans were just manipulated by their government and their media (Murdock media). Bush and the republicans were punished by the Americans voters however those media still work in the US and nobody blame them for that.
The most deplorable part of the war is that irak founded a bacterio/chemical weaponry labratory during the 1980s (and miserably failed, and closed shortly after) and that bush did not use that as an argument to fight iraq, you can see now how irrational this war was, now...
8 years down the line, i think america/britain look back at this knowing chirac was right about "a less dramatic method". I mean ..i dont think there will even be ONE page about the war with Iraq in USA history books..
WTF sanctions against france for not going into Iraq and bombing the place to hell man americans are stupid I am was not against the removal of saddam hussein but the US and UK went about it like a bunch of third world morons
France is the greatest country on earth well i'm canadian so canada and france are the best countries on earth and Jauques Chirac and Jean Chretien were right on Iraq i'm not against the war of Iraq but the US and the UK were unorganized and did not handle Iraq in a wise way they were too ignorant and didn't want to listen to anyone
What an annoying bitch, that's an Inquisition type interview, she's biased and wants to make Chirac look bad. I admire Chirac for just keeping the cool and answering with enormous dignity. War Is bad, cruel and unnecessary! The death toll is often the "measurement" of how big of a war that was, but the corrupted minds of those who survive it is the real threat, because it keeps the spirit of war alive.
"But if I see my friends or someone I dearely love, going down the wrong path [French, accentuated by Chirac : "que J'ESTIME lui être préjudiciable"], then I owe it to him to tell him, to warn him : "be careful" "
@Guildou and look at Sarcozi. This guy is literally kissing Putin's ass (sorry), but that's the only way I can represent Sarcozi's presidential years.
@Guildou Well, then the US has to take its focus off from European Union and think of real strategic partners in Europe. I would personally advice Estonia, Poland, Latvia, Georgia, Turkey e.t.c. Because these states are able to become strong allies of the US.
All I hate about European Union is their so-called "balanced" game which contradicts justice and gives permission for criminal states to commit genocides whenever they want.
@Ichkeria1 Well, ont the other hand, USA practice torture, abduct innocent people, violate international law on a regular basis, have helped to to multiple coup d'etat against democraticaly elected gouvernements, and i can continue like that all day...and its from you than justice will come? Make me laugh, sadly laugh.
USA can do great things...but this country is certainly not a example to follow in matter of justice.
Your allies and friends are not supposed to bow to your every wish. European countries have a huge history, and a lot of experience. If you don't care about Iraq, think about your own men. Why did they die for? Why?
That's quite a lovely love declaration there. Sorry the Americans didn't see it at that time.

Why do I allways get the feeling that TV journalism in the USA is very unprofessional?
This interview was extremely infantile considering it was only days before it's host nation declared War on another nation.
I think more mature and precise questions would have been more appropriate.
Why was the level of the interviewer so low?

Pourquoi "ancien Premier Ministre" ? C'est vrai par deux fois (1974-1976, 1986-1988), mais en l'occurence c'est surtout le Président de la République.
= Why "former Prime Minister" ? It was true for two times, but here he is above all the President of the French Republic.

US should listen to France when it comes to counter insurgency and anti terrorism-France has been doing those things decades before the US did!
